  • thanks guy!!

  • Hey bro i was wondering if the Behringer can handle drop tunes and its not true bypass right? i have the morpheus drop tune and like it im just seeing if there was somthing even better so i can record almost perfectly with out de tuning the strings. Also i saw the reviews on the dejitech whammy was really good for drop tune

  • @lizardgizard222 i havent tried it with a drop tuned guitar but it should work fine, i'm just guessing tho. as a drop tune pedal it works amazingly great, and for the price you cant beat it.

  • @sup1967 Thanks man and have u played the new degitech dt?

  • @lizardgizard222 nope, haven't. how is it?

  • ummm, am i right in saying that the boss pedal is set to flutter? from the shot you showed i think it is set to flutter s that would explain the "flutter", or am i wrong?

  • @djstixtrix its hard to tell in the video but no, flutter is an alternate whammy type effect.

  • I had a question, do you think i can play in E-A-D-G and passed in B-E-A-D with the behringer us600 ??

Sorry my english is not really good :/

  • I don't like this video, I LOVE IT! Thank you so much for the great and simple review.

  • does the US600 pedal go before or after the Distortion pedal

  • @AwesomeFunnyFilms it should go before the distortion. harmonizers track better on clean signals.

  • Hi gary, since you're obviously a Star Wars fan you may not find this question so odd. I'm in the 501st Legion, with both Boba Fett and Stormtrooper costumes. I'm trying to help out our resident Vader, and was wondering if the Behringer or the Boss would work to reduce a vocal pitch to a decent Vader level. I play bass guitar and have worked a bit as a sound guy, so I know how the pedals work, just not sure if the effecy would work on a voice well enough. Thanks Gary.

  • @timmerred5 they should be great for dropping vocals as well. may the force be with you.

  • I AM IN LOVE WITH YOUR GUITAR!!!

  • Boss 3:08 Beringher 3:38 Morpheus 4:15

  • Fantastic presentation

  • excellent review. to the point and very thorough. thanx man!

  • I notice the rubber foot-pad fell off your behringer, same thing happened to my UF-300, nothing a bit of liquid nails didn't fix..HAHA

  • I've been using the Behringer US600 for a couple of months now. It works great, but it raises the noise floor significantly and is by far the noisiest pedal I have ever had in my signal chain (even when it's turned off). It also doesn't track dissonant chord voicings very well (I get tons of artifacts on certain voicings). I am considering replacing it with the morpheus, however, I have a couple of questions.

  • How is the latency compared to the US600? Can it track chords like dimished, flat-5, etc without the warbly digital artifacts? Does it raise the noise floor much (if at all)?

  • awesome review - I have the PS-5, and I'm "upgrading" to the Behringer on the strength of this.

  • Embarassing for Boss.

  • something is wrong with your avatar - its on its side! lol

  • Thumbs up if the first thing you paid attention to in this video was the decal on the guitar.

  • Dude. I dig your style. Awesome vid! Awesome guitar! Awesome rig!

  • BOSS is honestly overrated. Their pedals are overpriced for what you get, which is mediocre technology at best. Some of their pedals are great, but a lot of them are trash.

It's hard to make a pitch shifter sound good, especially in polyphony. You'll pretty much always have latency in a pitch shifter because it has to read at least a bit of the signal before it can transform it.

  • That's freakin convinient, i want one, since I drop tune a lot but dun wanna have to actually to drop tune the guitar. I allways have one in drop D but when I want to play in for example drop E I dun wanna have to retune the guitar.

  • Awesome video! Looks like I'm going to buy a US600! I already have a Digitech Whammy 4 that I never use.. I guess its obsolete now that all these other pedals are out.. I wonder how the new whammy DT holds up against these?

  • The first useful review I have ever seen in my life!

    Thank you!

  • unbelievable...i really underestimated behringer. it was the best pedal of the three

  • Behringer is better in comparision with boss PS5? How you record the audio in this video? direct box?

  • Thanks a lot for this video Gary !! I've just discovered these pedals like 15 minutes ago and i was ready to order my morpheus pedal right when i saw what it could do, but after seeing this video i probably will buy the Behringer since it's much cheaper and as good ! Thanks for making me save 100$ gary !

  • Why is it that harmonizers even need tracking? Can't it just apply the effect to the entire input and have no polyphony problems?

  • Rock and Roll Fantasy!!! at 2:16, I love that song!

  • were do you buy that jedi guitar i can feel the force

  • I don't understand Boss. Some of their stuff is good and some of it is absolutely horrible.

  • 2:26 Trevor Rabin sound! (Owner of a Lonely Heart) IMHO

  • I really have to say, you have the coolest guitar ever.

  • Nice. Now do it all over again without distortion.

  • @simaojoseph That would defeat the whole purpose of the video. I have a pitch shifter in my old Digitech GNX3 and it's just fine until you cut the distortion on, then it sounds like the Boss here. Drop tuners are usually good for having two things: latency and a choppy signal. And you can't really test for a choppy signal without a little bit of distortion.

  • 02:13 CKY Tone.

  • anyone else not seeing much of a difference at 4.56 (comparison between behring and boss)

  • Is this the guy from those awful expert village videos? He's gotten better.

  • Anyone try the Morpheus with the 1.2 update and how much of a difference it makes ?.

  • Only difference between boss and beringer. Boss (Metal), Beringer (Plastic)

  • @GuitarKingMother and the Behringer tracks polyphony and the Boss doesn't.

  • right on! I had just bought a US600 on ebay - U'r vid confirmed what I had read elsewhere. Thanks for posting, I was looking for a good direct comparison w/ the boss. cheers!

  • I would still go with the Morpheous droptune because it is much easier when you need to switch between multiple tunings on stage. because all you have to do is hit a button a few times max and you can have any tuning you want. And they have updates you can download from the morpheous website to make it sound a little clearer which i really like.

  • Good for you ,these were my experiences and conclusions as well. The PS-5 was a disappointment all the way around. The US600 has a delay included as a feature also. Very cool vid, great info, thanks.

  • I wouldnt even use a Behringer pedal if i got it for free... Havent tried one behringer product including Bugera that didnt suck!

  • 2:02 - 2:11 Nice use of the pedal's toggle like a kill switch. :)

  • Great video man, really helped!

  • heyy..........cool nice video ..leaned new thing ...one question ..iam new to guitar world...iam planning to buy some following pedals ...pls tell me which brand of pedal is little cheap (less ) & has good effect:distortion petal/overdrivepetal/phaser/chorus/reveb/delay pedals

  • @ferozmachi I would go for behringer myself.. but what kind of hypocrisy is this (since I use EHX, JimDunlop)? anyway... just get the multi pedal such as Line 6 POD XT Live or POD X3, Zoom G9.2tt, Boss GT-8 or GT10... Distortion+Phaser+Chorus+Delay price = 1 Multi Pedal effect filled with 75+ effect...

the only thing I dont like about Multi Pedal is Digital.. the sound is not pure/organic/warm... but worth the penny!

  • @ayamtido .thanks for the information

  • how come u turned the boss to drop b and tried to play a regular chord and said it was wavering? u can't set it to a drop tuning u cant play a regular power chord and expect it to sound good.

  • Comment removed

  • @crymsinfayde001 None of these pedals effect strings individually, the intervals are still standard.

  • Hey guys:

I got a question: I got a pitch shifter in my peavey vypyr 30w but it somehow really cuts out the whole tone during shifting. It really doesn't sound very good.

I'm using a Boss metal core ML-2 pedal for additional gain.

I'd like a pedal to just downtune my guitar without having to put thicker strings on it and stuff you know. Is the Behringer one good for this purpose?

  • @PandaPanda18 yes it is, and for the price you cant go wrong.

  • @sup1967

I just bought it: two probs: latency in drop tunings and with expression pedal EV5 doesn't work properly - I've tried ALL possible combinations and it only goes from a 3rd to a dim 5th above the signal. No octave whammy stuff ;( any suggestions?

Thanks a lot for the reviev.

  • how come theres no cable plugged into the output of the behringer and the droptune?

  • @BenWillWinThis watch again. there is!

  • @sup1967 aah hehe i didnt see those sneaky little cables! lol

  • @BenWillWinThis sure there is, if no cable...no sound.

  • that's a pretty dang cool guitar

  • Wtf?! I see ppl bitching about how crap the Behringer is as compared to the Morpheus. Try this, get your heads out of your ass. The Behringer costs around 30 bux, and the Morpheous costs around 200 bux. The Behringer costs less than one sixth of the price of the Morpheous, but you want it to have the same features. Get a life! The average people wont know the difference, they only care about what you play and how you play it! especially if you only play in clubs/pubs... geez

  • I had the Behringer and have now the Morpheus. The Behringer is taking your tone character totally. Fun for fucking with it around at home untill it brakes (it does brake! Always!), but if you care about your sound, get the Morpheus! You can clearly hear at the end of this video, when the guy plays those single notes, how Behringer fucks your sound up..

However, even Morpheus is not perfect either, it will take a bit from your sustain. But with a tiny gain adjustment on my booster its solved!

  • Behringer is very suitable for my budget. So hell yeah , Behringer ftw !!

  • most of the Behringer pedals are reconstructions of Boss pedals (same components), and sometimes with some improved features (like cleaner signal).

So, haters, why the hell then would sound worse? because it's wrapping isn't made of metal?

Behringer: You pay for product, not for the label.

  • Sometimes people give more importance to the brand than the quality itself. Many are unwilling to admit that behringer has several really good products in the same way that the boss has some crap products.

Boss has many excellent products, but that does not mean it has to be better at everything. And the same goes for any other brand or something.

Tip: Review the quality of the product, not the label on it.

  • Sorry, but I'm not convinced. I still prefer morpheus. I know it's more expensive but has much better quality pitch.

  • If you are looking to buy one of these morpheus droptune pedals just click on my link below. Thanks

  • dang that growl is bad ass

  • would u recomend this for giging if someone did want to take 2 guitars (us600)

and is there a loss in gain?

  • @xom400 i have this as the first pedal in my pedaltrain for a while. signal is still strong and sounds great. the drop tuning with the Behringer live is undetectable to the untrained ear. i might notice it if someone was using it but the average schmo wont know. for the price you really cant go wrong!

  • @sup1967 thanks man ill get it then :)

  • False.. very false

  • @steveclarkeee222 not everyone is going to agree with me, i'm sure.

  • @steveclarkeee222 my roommate had boss ps5 and sound shakes noticeably.never tried morpheus drop tune...

but behringer us600 was the only pitch shifter i could afford. and i saw this video and it helped me decide on what to do... i bought the us600 and lived happily ever after...

it is really a cool pedal for that price actually all behringer pedals are affordable...

in fact those factory made pedals costs like 5 dolars per pcb so that doesn't indicate it's low quality

thank you so much Gary :)

  • yeah there is no way the behringer sounded better than the morpheus.. yeah it was a better than the boss but you can definately tell that it wasnt as clear as the morpheus.. i have the morphues and when you tune your guitar with the pedal on it is exact.. the only problem is the trim level that is next to the input.. im having trouble adjusting it to get the best quality

  • I had that behringer, but i dont have very good experiences with it. It weakened and darkened my guitartone even if bypass. When i used the effects, it sounded completely different, like some kind of synth. You can hear this difference in the end of this vid, when sup1967 compairs the single notes from Morpheus, then Behringer..

Mine failed working with battery. Reability is very bad, propably it died in the hands of the guy, who i sold it to.. Thatswhy its 75$..

  • can you drop tune one string like keep the rest standard there is a song i need to switch between drop d and c tuning?

  • @relax235 no, this doesnt do alternate tunings, only pitch shifting as a whole. there is no way for any harmonizer pedal to detect what single string you are playing.

  • @relax235 only conventional way you could do this, that I am familiar with, is through MIDI. there are plenty of examples of being able to set, say, your E, A and D strings to sound like a bass while the G, B and E are set to a piano or keyboard setting. through a MIDI program you may be able to set just one string for a detuned effect. another thing that comes to mind is the Voice Capo. check it out, you might find it to be what you need

  • NO BRAINER. The Behringer is benefitting from the buffered bypass of the BOSS PEDAL, thus stabilizing its input signal. The boss gets a weak signal, as u are using singlecoils...HAA HAA....So then the boosted guitar signal is at its most compressed and highest level at the end, where the morpheus is...This is not aside by side true a vs b vs c comparison.

  • @newfosgatesucks nice try. look again. the guitar has humbuckers. very HOT humbuckers at that. Duncan Distortions. no weak signal. the BOSS just doesn't track polyphony.

  • @sup1967 hahaha good come back you told that guy newfosgatesucks lol, anyway good vid and I was wondering if you could help me out, I got a brand new 6505+ with matching cab and a brand new RP 1000 and can't figure out how to hook it up threw the back of the head unit. I can only get it from the front input and it sounds like shit got any advice?

  • @bdoginit01 if you are using the behringer as a drop tuning pedal it definitely needs to be put in line before your distortion. either the head distortion or your pedal/processor distortion. hope that helped.

  • @sup1967 I just meant for a true a vs b vs c comparison, placement in the chain is an issue, and is not a fair comparison.... On the budget, I like them. And I give you kudos - the boss IS HORRIBLE at polyphony. I haven't played with the behringer, but I have to say the quality performance of their latest run or two of effects is great. Do have my complaints on them but that is the pricepoint difference. All in all I am FOR the Behr.

  • Actually it is COMPRESSION not SIGNAL LEVEL that causes the result - trust me-I don't like Boss pedals, Im just saying that in actuality, not in theory - the most compressed signal is at the end of the chain. I have a few Behringer pieces - functionally they are ok, etc...I wasn't jabbing them, but the changing feel/latency/compression as pedals increase help a tuner unlike MANY articles say. I once had an undesireable Arion that worked fine right before the amp, and sucked first in line....

  • I think you said it but rly wanna be sure, can you go from standard tuning to Eb tuning with the behringer?

  • @jussy995 yes, no problem!

  • @sup1967 thanks! :D

  • Can you hear a difference ONLY using 1 half step down? I tune in C and we have some stuff in B, and I was wanting to use this to drop me down 1 half step to B and I have some clean parts. We play Modern Rock so tone is key. I haven't had a chance to play one in person.

  • @jussy995 yes

  • hi got a quick question for you...i generally have my guitar in drop d tuning...if i picked up the behringer could i use that to drop it down to drop a? i love my low sounds :-) please reply man...cheers :-)

  • The Rebel Alliance all the way!

  • @MagniRPetersen Héhé awesome !

  • dont go for the Behringer us600, ITS A TRAP

  • whats the song at the end?

  • Boss is definitely out.

  • @SUP1967

Please let me know if the Behringer US600 can track well on half step up to whole step down tuning in terms of chordings both in clean tone and in dirty signal? That is pretty much as far I would use the Pitch shifter from down tuning on an EADGBE guitar.

Hope to hear from you soon and many thanks for this helpful post.

  • This is an awesome review! I'm thinking of buying a Morpheus polytune for me to use in gigs in order to down tune my EADGBE guitar up to 1 whole step but after watching this video I think I will opt to tryand get a more versatile, cheaper and working Pitch shifter pedal from which is the Behringer US600.

  • GREAT

  • I'm getting the Morpheus. The Behringer is just too ugly.

  • can we hear the harmonizer function on the us600 ?

  • lol. i am displeased with the conclusion of this vid... he forgot that the morpheous also has one of the best sounfing octiver iv ever herd... and it looks cooler... but seven string guitars are much better than any effect drivin drop tunnings, or normal drop tunnings...

  • Would a pitch shifter pedal be placed before or after the distortion pedals?

  • @wajang1000 depending on the sound you want. putting it before or after your distortion changes the characteristics of the effected signal. if you are using it as a droptune or whammy only i recommend before. as a harmonist it should go after, or through the pedals distortion loop if it has one. always consult the manual as well.

  • éé, não tem jeito, na maioria das vezes os Behringer são o melhor custo x Benefício, eu tenho 03 e não me arrependo!

  • I was convinced by this demo, I got the US600. I always wondered why Behringer had such a bad rep. After three days my Behringer blew a speaker. First day power would quickly cut in and out when the switch was touched, then within 2 days the power would also cut in and out rapidly when switching between modes as well. It would send huge speaker ripping pops and power surges to my poor amp. Day 3, random power surges, now one of the speakers are blown. I guess now I know why they are reviled.

  • sure, it may be biased, but even if this was an unbiased review, the behringer still clearly wins, boss pedals just suck imo

  • I want to hear the behringer do harmonys like the intro to "bringin on the heartbreak". also can this behringer track moderate lead runs?

  • pretty biased review.. it should be encompassing durability (which the behringer would lose outright) and quality of sound (which the droptune wins easily)..

if you're starting to play guitar the behringer would do you as a first pedal but if you gig regularly you couldn't trust the behringer without a backup, there's a reason it's cheaper. same with the bugera (distributed through behringer, i used to own one) amp he's playing through. they're fine as a first tube amp but aren't pro grade

  • @mutelullaby yes the Behringer is made of plastic, but plastic is pretty durable. if you step on it reasonably normal, not intentionally stepping on it like you are trying to break it, it will last a long time.

also the overall intent of the vid was bang for buck. Behringer wins. If you are a tone freak and a nation touring artist I'm sure you'd prefer the Morpheus. But for polyphonic harmony, this BOSS is the worst.

  • @mutelullaby also my Bugera head still has the original tubes in it, about 1 year old, and it still sound amazing!

  • @mutelullaby i disagree about the non-pro grade of the Bugera as well. It's the best tube head i've ever had. I had various Marshalls over the years and they all broke within the warranty period and then had to wait for the part to be shipped BY BOAT FROM ENGLAND taking up to 9 months to get fixed. horrible customer service. Bugera - only 1 factory repair in the 2 years i've had it and i also broke the input jack stepping on the cable - repaired in a week!

  • buy the Morpheus Droptone.

  • thanks this relly help me alot to choose

  • hi,

I was planing to buy a morpheus drop tune but i havent got enough money to get it and i want a harmonist too... So i am planing to buy behringer us600 but i have a question:

Is this pedal transparent or in other words: when we use it for drop tuning does it has any effects of our original tone's gain ?

    thanks :)

  • morpheus seems the best, behringer has the best features though.

  • Hey! The Expertvillage effect man #1

  • I can't believe I used to think that Boss pedal was amazing what a piece of shit thank god I didn't get it.

  • That Boss pedal is an overpriced piece of shit. Boss pedals are all overpriced pieces of garbage.

  • Should have done a demo with a clean signal too.

  • I have both the morpheus and the super shifter, i think he missed the fact with the boss it has a tone of feature and it basically gives your guitar a flyod rose. but anyways ill probly get the behringer now. behringer makes the some of the best amps and mixers too

  • how is it with trem picking though? alot of these pedals cant keep up with seriously fast trem picking ALA black metal or death metal style..

  • Gary Schutt is endorsed by Behringer, so no wonder it's biased.

  • @rickbos i am endorsed by Behringer. the US600 is a great value, you get the features of the PS5 and the smoothness of the Morpheus for less money, but if you only need to droptune then the Morpheus wins cuz its the only one that drops chromatically.

  • @sup1967 what do you mean chromatically?

  • @rickbos I am, but this review is not based. it is my honest review. for price and quality the Behringer is the best buy. the Boss is horrible at polyphony and the Morpheus is really really good, but only really good at one thing.

  • @rickbos What would you buy then?

  • @rickbos Don't you have ears?

  • A much better review than what we are all used to (where a company guy tells you how great something is..). Thanks for doing this video. All I would add is that the focus of this video is SOLEY for people looking to use a pitch shifter as a replacement for having a guitar in that tuning. It needs to be said that 2 out of the 3 units werent designed specifically to do polyphonic pitch shifting. But hey...this is a creative field and I am VERY grateful to have this review. Thank U!!!

  • You can find the Morpheus in guitar center for 199.99 :D

  • Great review - I wish more were like this

Very clear comparison of the sound, allowing it to ring out and sustain. Much more useful than just rabbiting on about features or making flashy noise.

    Well presented - excellent job!

  • Excellent review! I thought at first the morpheus will win. I was surprised that behringer beats boss. I did a couple of behringer comparison and review myself (GDI21 vs sansamp) and acoustic modeller. Both are great pedals especially for the price. Well done, and excellent playing. This is a lot of help to guitar players out there. Keep it up!

  • Thanks this was a great comparison!

  • wow behringer cheap yet effective

  • owh and another thing, the behringer is not capable of going one and half step and 2 steps down, which is very important for me since I'm playing death metal. I'm getting the Morpheus since it is made specially for droptuning.

  • One thing I notice with the Behringer, it's creating a lot of noise without a proper power supply. I'm using a Roland PSA power supply but it needs a much better one, like a 1Spot or Godlyke, doesn't matter if u daisy chain it or not.

  • Gary I think you helped give more comfort in the Behringer line. I think I might get a harmonist/shifter pedal. Can you use a external switcher pedal to change tones live?

  • Thanks for the review!

  • the chord wasn't clear in the behringer and it had that 'wobble' to it cause you had the flutter effect on if your settings were at what the picture showed.

  • the morpheus is better with more gain than this. we use them to drop from B to F# with 6 strings and they work great.

  • @nephilymbass

guitar pedal don't have a gain input, why does the morpheus? changes the gain structure of the guitar to the amp.

  • @sup1967 nephilymbass didn't say the Morpheus had a gain pot - he said it works better with higher gain.

  • in all honesty we only use them here and there with full on distortion. the guitars are already in C# standard or drop B. So playing Meshugguh type riffs with a clean tone would be kinda silly. But I think a lot of people haven't thought to use the droptune without starting at E. I've seen a lot of people say you can't get to F with one, but you actually can if your starting at B. The Morpheus sounds much better starting at B and going down than using ridiculous string gauges like a .70

  • behringer maybe the better one but its not the best

the boss is the best you can do allot with that thing but its not build for droptune its build for soloing

  • @greendayfan19

the Boss and the Behringer are pretty identical for features, but the Behringer is a cleaner processed signal.

  • I have a six string guitar and i was searching for alternate drop tunnings without having to change strings, setup etc. I was ready to spend my money on the Moderus ...until viewing this video.I realized i was just a victim of the new marketing.I bought the behringer and i have to say that it does the job perfectly for 1/4 the price.Thank you very much for posting this video!

  • A good honest review, thanks. Behringer often gets a lot of negative comments in forums, not because people have tried Behringer products but because they have heard other people saying negative things about Behringer and they adopt these opinions as their own. It's good to see a great value Behringer guitar pedal get a good review by somebody who has actually tried it.

  • morpheus FTW....

  • Aaaaaaaaaand I've subscribed.

  • miss your guitar work a lot gary schutt...

  • Awesome man, really enjoyed this video, I'd love to see more like this. Thanks for saving me a couple hundred bucks!

  • Excellent!!!!

  • thats sick
