I'd love cameras on both sides of the cabin to see the view out both sides, a camera facing up, a camera facing down under the plane, a front facing camera at the front, a front facing camera on the tail, and a rear facing camera on the tail :) and a camera on the wings looking back at the plane
It's too bad the A380 is such an ugly plane --- even worse than the 747 and that's BAD. Hopefully, I'll never have to ride on this piece of S***. I once flew a single-engine Cessna ( ferry flight ) from Calif. to Hawaii, a 13 hour flight over open ocean. I loved every minute of it and would gladly do it again before spending one minute on this overgrown liviathon they call the A380. This plane SUCKS.
@iWearGlassesLOL they're Flaps. they're extended during takeoff or landing to increase the wings surface area to it could fly slower. The ailerons are on the far end of the wings and roll the plane. those move in opposite directions.
Holy shit, this is coolest camera angle you can have. I cannot wait to fly the A380 from Frankfurt to NYC in February!! I'll probably watch this throughout the entire flight.
@swawif Crosswinds aren't really a rare occurrence. It's almost expected that most of the time any winds will not be blowing in the same direction as the runway heading.
The pilots do use this during landings, it must make it so much easier during crosswind landings to assist, also during instrument landings to check for ground contact. Brilliant Idea on Airbus' behalf, excellent for the passengers too!
If the pilots have that in the cockpit I think it would be much easier to land,, and its like a video game when theres 3rd person!!!!! xD... They just need a 360 controller.
@jopihoop Haha, no speed indicator, to altimeter, no attitude indicator, no heading reference, no EICAS, no MCDU/FMC, no PFD, no MFD and SOOOOO much more, hahahahaha. If a pilot actually uses that camera to land, he'll probably be the BEST pilot ever known in history and future to come, xD!!!!
A380 is a cool airliner, and I found out that the pilots will use this same tail cam view to help steer the plane, on the taxiways and runways. Also one reason for them to use the whole runway, is that they must be under 10 knots of speed before the nose gear can work effectively. Faster than that the plane will just go straight even with the nose gear turned left or right. I would love to get a ride on this plane.
@bwd81977 That's what they want you to think. The truth is that cloaked lemmings use to be in charge of visually monitoring the aircraft externally from many positions. But after the strike of 2008 and due to rising operation costs, many airline manufacturers installed cameras claiming it was for the the passengers to enhance the flight experience. Now the aircraft can be properly monitored by 100s of eyes and thus keep the plane safe and save money.
yes - the big girl was a treat to fly in, food was average, staff were very friendly and the flight although long was smooth with no turbulence or hick ups a great experience.
@cesnaman friend of mine called it "a flying couch". Just no feeling except it is very stable and silent (which is good but not exciting enough huh? :))
