Considerar este senhor "the worlds best Portuguese Guitar player" é a coisa mais caricata que ouvi até hoje. Não tenho nada a criticar na forma de tocar do Edgar Nogueira,mas é tudo muito mecânico. Então e o sentir? E a musicalidade? No estilo tercnicista, Jorge Fontes era infinitamente melhor. E se recuarmos um pouco mais, o Jaime Santos foi o mais virtuoso dos guitarristas tecnicistas. Já José Nunes arrancava a melhor musicalidade da sua guitarra.
E ainda ninguem se lembrou de misturar o flamenco com a guitarra portuguesa.....ou seja, a guitarra espanhola sempre esta a acompanhar a guitarra portuguesa, mas criar algo mais inovador....

Lucros de CDs? a podridao esta ca dentro, e ha quem queira que o fado seja algo apenas reservado a elite, longe da maioria do povo portugues, o mesmo povo cujos antepassados ajudaram a criar e a desenvolver o fado. D A B e a b. Coimbra guitar usually tuned to same intervals but a tone lower. The three lower pair of strings are tuned in octaves on both instruments so that (for example) the high octave string on the 'A' 5th pair or course is the same pitch as the 'a' on the second course. The octaves are paired so it works like this:
dD aA bB ee aa bb from low to high. The d octave string is wound, the other octaves plain. Hope that helps..
No they are different instruments from the lute family. A mandolin is much smaller and it has 8 strings (4x2) tuned GDAE, it is usually played with one plectrum. A Portuguese guitar has 12 (6x2) strings, and the tuning differs, and it is usually played with more finger plectrums, which enables you to use the Figeta technique (may be compared to finger picking).

Ao ler esta bacorada acerca do Lá de Portugal do Prof. Edgar N., tenho que responder já que o autor não pode e deve-se estar rir de tanta ignorância. Aquilo é um "grupetto" ou um conjunto de notas tocadas em ascendência e descendência sobre toda a escala da guitarra e é um movimento muito bonito e muito difícil para tocar bem.
Já agora veja o voo do moscardo tocado pelo Professor que se calhar para si também é uma escala!
A obra do Professor é demais para cabeças tão pequenas.

Talvez, Edgar Nogueira tenha mais destreza que o Paredes. Este também era um amador. Mas, isso não quer dizer seja melhor compositor, ou improvisador, que o Paredes.

Tanto quanto tentar comparar a guitarra de Lisboa com a de Coimbra: ambas são muito diferentes, e ambas são deveras belas. Sendo de Coimbra, reparo que a guitarra de lisboa tem tudo... só lhe falta a alma que a de Coimbra tem, o choro, a tristeza e a amargura. E é nisso apenas que a de Lisboa perde em relação à de Coimbra, e já é muito.

Are the Portuguese guitar and mandolin the same?

No they are different instruments from the lute family. A mandolin is much smaller and it has 8 strings (4x2) tuned GDAE, it is usually played with one plectrum. A Portuguese guitar has 12 (6x2) strings, and the tuning differs, and it is usually played with more finger plectrums, which enables you to use the Figeta technique (may be compared to finger picking).

Ao ler esta bacorada acerca do Lá de Portugal do Prof. Edgar N., tenho que responder já que o autor não pode e deve-se estar rir de tanta ignorância. Aquilo é um "grupetto" ou um conjunto de notas tocadas em ascendência e descendência sobre toda a escala da guitarra e é um movimento muito bonito e muito difícil para tocar bem.
Já agora veja o voo do moscardo tocado pelo Professor que se calhar para si também é uma escala!
A obra do Professor é demais para cabeças tão pequenas.

@zgrifens "Com respeito ao voo de moscardo, basta ver quem o acompanhou ao piano (maestro Jorge Machado) para dar toda a garantia , mas eu vou mais longe, gosto mais desta versão da guitarra portuguesa, do que muitas versões de violinos estrangeiras para o qual ele foi escrito. Além do mais nunca ninguem tinha ousado tocar tal peça na guitarra do fado.

que dá para saber como se toca, que ambas têm a mesma
regra de afinação, lisboa e coimbra, a principal diferença é que
a de coimbra afina um tom abaixo logo dá sons mais graves.
Por isso, não queira minimizar os adeptos do professor.

Dizer que Edgar Nogueira é melhor que Carlos Paredes é um tanto ou quanto inocente. Tanto quanto tentar comparar a guitarra de Lisboa com a de Coimbra: ambas são muito diferentes, e ambas são deveras belas. Sendo de Coimbra, reparo que a guitarra de lisboa tem tudo... só lhe falta a alma que a de Coimbra tem, o choro, a tristeza e a amargura. E é nisso apenas que a de Lisboa perde em relação à de Coimbra, e já é muito.

As tecnicas usadas na guitarra de lisboa sao mais dificeis de aprender do que as de coimbra.
E quem disse que o edgar nogueira ta a tocar com metodo de coimbra?
Ta a dar mais uso aos bordoes mais nada, isto porque nos instrumentais de guitarra de lisboa se usa mais os bordoes com o polegar e nao com o indicador.
Na minha opiniao,esta um pouco acima do chainho, em relaçao ao paredes, ta acima como interprete mas nao como compositor.

Won't talk about racism or if latin americans are "pure latins" or not.But i wish to correct some facts: The Roman (and not Italian) empire is with by far the worldwide most known of all ancient empires. That's unquestionable, Portuguese and Spanish empires were huge in their days (they splitted the world in two) and had a lot of influence, but the roman culture and legacy is still very present in latin nations in the whole europe.
