  • My Russian blue and white cat is always asleep she does love a little cuddle and a brush everyday . I spoil her alot . I got her when I was 8 and now I'm almost 15 and she is 7.

  • @Uberchic1000 I love the name, Duchess! I just got mine and named her Anastasia or "ANA" for short.

  • *bring

  • lol my russian blue is around me all the time he can, will being home rabbits and rats as big as he is (18 pounds give or take) hes amazing outside, he plays fetch, and hell talk all the time.

  • @Uberchic1000

Я пренебрежение кошка, поэтому у меня больше времени для водки :\

Less time spent with the cat, Means MORE TIME FOR DRINKING VODKA

  • We're about to adopt one from a couple who felt the cat was too affectionate and playful for them to handle. They were considering sending her to the pound... which would most likely put her to sleep.

  • @Uberchic1000

    гелий является алкогольным, нет????

  • A gorgeous breed.

  • If you like Russian Blue Cats check out mine search Zinba the Russian blue or go to my channel - MsNUTuber. They are so gorgeous.

  • My Russian blue is 10 years old. He has been my friend for a long time. His name is Lucky.

  • Mine died yesterday, his name was Dusty and he got ran over, he was my best friend and we grew up together. He was extraordinary, when we moved one day we left him and the next day we found him lying on the door step, he followed us for two miles, he was the best, I hope he's happy where he is now.

  • Wtf ever ! My russian blue cusses me out ! Always meowing an shit . I feed her 3 times a day an pet her alot ! Fuckin cat wants to be tha damn queen !

  • @danielrosstheboss maybe she wants a mate?

  • i got one yesterday

  • I had a russian blue once. He was born with green eyes and his owner had abandoned him because he did. I picked him up at a vets office where he was being given medicine for worms (giving him a distended stomach). He was a great pet, i named him elvis. He was fun, energetic and loads of fun to play with. But i left him at my grandmothers while i was moving and he made his way outside and never came back...i miss him but...i already know that the next cat i get will be a russian blue, no doubt.

  • Russian whites, blacks and tabbies are only available in Australia. Maybe your cat isn't a particular breed!!!

  • OMG I want one. So adorable!

  • very quiet ? HAHAHAHAHA

my russian blue talks ALL THE TIME

  • @rastamees yeah same here

  • @rastamees lol and my russian blue isnt very gentle, hes a little fucker, attacks my feet all the time in the hallway and in the kitchen

  • @Nayr907

yeah well mine is really calm :P shes gets bored with playing very fast

  • fuuu :D

I have 2 at home and they aren` t eaven close at how she described it.

They are the only cats, which will cuddle only when they want. They do realize, how expensive they are (alteast here in europe, where they cost 600-650 € each), so they are wery snobbish. They can somehove sense the most expensive thing in ur house, sit on it with their head proudly lifted up and just look expensive whole day

despite that, they are still one of the most gorgeous cat outthere (:

  • My Russian Blue is sleeping between my legs right now......

  • i have one. one time i took a shower for about 15 mins and when i opened the door i just saw her meowing at me

  • We had a Russian Blue when I was about 15-16. It grew very attached to me. I left for the Army when I was 17 and it ran away. So if you become bonded with a Russian Blue...stay with it for life.

  • I have a black cat and he does what these Russian Blues do O-o He looks like them but is just Black.

  • @Mooam so he's a Russian Black :)

  • @niokiniki Mine is right now! XD

  • What she describes is like totally my Russian Blue Charlotte! =O

Amazing! She follows me everywhere including to the bathroom and stuff and she really loves to lie on my lap on her back and pur <3

  • What she described is my Russian Blue, Sora, to a "T"

  • I have a Russian and he's a total handful, love him to bits tho.

  • I got my russian blue at an animal shelter and after researching it I found out she is a pure russian blue. Inky likes me and my family all in the living room and if i'm not there she meows and follows me until I go back XD

  • Whilst reading more of the comments, I noticed quite a lot of ignorance, which is prevalent on these things. So yes you CAN find Russian Blues at a shelter, as I found mine there. There are distinct characteristics you can learn to look for to distinguish. There are also flaws relevant to certain breeds which may make them "undesirable" to certain breeders, giving them away or sending them to a shelter. I've seen Siamese, Persians, Maine Coons, Chihuahuas, Labs, Papillions, etc., at shelters.

  • @boompsie My Russian Blue was a rescue animal.

  • i found my boobookins @ the humane society - there's a russian blue breeder or 2 within a 40 mi. radius, so I'm guessing he probably came from there - it's totally their loss and my gain, because I believe the only reason he could have possibly been given up was because of that white chest spot that some of them have. Other than that he's a text-book russian blue, from the mauve foot pads to the fussy, aristocratic behavior. And yes, mine likes to be held - I cuddle him like a baby all the time!

  • my russian blue talks to me ALL the time,it sounds like she's always singing, and she will cry if I don't take her outside with me

  • @ashleeblossom Our 11 month old Russian (Ponyo) does the same thing; it is very musical, the way she talks. She loves to climb trees and car rides. Just like our last Russian (Riley) that passed away 2 years ago. We used to take him everywhere. Best cats ever and both from shelters.

  • do they like to be held?

  • @usopenwinner123 depends on their mood, my russian blue likes to be held but not for too long then she likes to sit next to me. but they don't protest that much when you hold them

  • I have a little 4 month old russian blue kitten named Charlotte! She is soo friendly, she sits with me and purs all the time but in the evenings she can get really playful and hyper! SHE RUNS REALLY FAST!!! And she mews so little

    =D <3 <3 <3 Love her!!

  • I have a Russian Blue named Sheba... I'm not a fan of cats but my wife is but I have say to Sheba has claimed me and I love her...

  • just bought one, so stoked. I don't really want to send her outside too much either.

  • im sure the lady knows what she's talking about but my russian blue is a hyperactive, super loud and very flighty cat...and sheds a crap load of fur all the time

  • they get jealous with other pets something u should think about if have another pet....my dog got scratched on the nose...thanks god it wasnt the eye...

  • wanna pet that cat

  • i have a russian blue named Mina. she was an adopted cat from a humane society and the sweetest thing. she sleeps next to me most nights, and is very snuggly. plus she's so friendly with other people. I LOVE MINA!

  • @niokiniki -Mine lays on the keyboard too. If she thinks I'm not paying enough attention to her, she walks in front of the screen until I smarten up.

  • Our Russian Blue is named Raisin and we love her very much.

  • @niokiniki I feel you. Mine goes on the keyboard and on my laptop she steps on the net connection or the power button to shut it off.

  • 0:29 , Not intrested in your things"

  • They are so gorgeous and elegant. I definitely want one. Their personality seems perfect for me. I want a sweet, gentle cat who doesn't get up to too many shenanigans, who are affectionate and friendly but who will give me space and peace and quiet when I need it.

  • I owned six cats in my life before I finally adopted a rescued Russian Blue. They are magnificent, and I say this having known and loved many wonderful cats.

  • My Russian Blue lied on my netbook keyboard and she disabled the touch-pad. Now I have to use a mouse.

    BE CAREFUL!

  • The Russian Blue showed up in America around the 1960's, and its offspring breed the Nebelung was created in the early 1980's. Like if you've got one of them or both!! <3

  • Yes wonderful cats!

    Adore our Russian Blue.

  • @niokiniki

Yes my Russian blue does to:-)

  • i dunno but british blu are still most awesome tho all cats are great(not all actually)

  • I still love my long-haired siamese. :|

  • My Russian Blue cat is very active. His name is Sampson, and he loves to get into things, and so that last part of this video, where it says, they are not that very active, this lady, has yet to meet mine. :) He loves to pick fights with my oldest cat, Midway, even late at night. I love my cats Sampson, and Midway. Sampson is a rescue from the local animal shelter. Someone had the nerve to abandon him along side of a road in Fayetteville, and now he is spoiled rotten in his forever home. :)

  • This looks just like my cat except she has really yellow eyes

  • @SunlitAries1625 then it is not a Russian Blue, all purebred cats should have vivid green eyes, what about her coat, does she have the silver tipping?

  • @kikigi78 Oh i know she's not a russian but she does have silver tipping where her coat is a different colour underneath its a very light grey and has lavender paws...but once again she has this tiny white dot on the very tip of her tail and on her chest that you hardly notice

  • @SunlitAries1625

maybe you have a British Shorthair, then? To me, they look similar to the Russian Blue, but have yellowish eyes. Just a guess.

  • I had a Russian Blue and he talked a lot.

  • are russian blues aggresive? i heard if petted wrong they will bite you.

  • my russian blue had a bowel disorder I think, she was halfway through her bowel movement, and hasnt been able to push it out fully, now the feces is keeping the sphincter open and now it looks like its swelling up... What do i do?!

  • @sahilms please get the cat to the vet right away. Sounds like this is constipation but can't be treated by yourself. For the sake of humane treatment of your animal, please take her in...

  • @meisha1971

i did, she ate some foreign substance apparently, and shes all better now :P

  • @sahilms get it checked at a vet

  • i want that cat now lol... does it crap a lot? lmao

  • reading these comments makes me very happy that there are lots of other Russian Blue owners who are happy with their cat!

I hear so much about dogs, it's hard to be a cat person these days!

  • My cat is mixed, but I'm positive he's a good part Russian Blue. The description she gives is exactly like mine. My profile picture is of my cat. I love my little boy. ^-^

  • When people hear the word "Cat" they picture a fat long-haired white cat. When they hear "Dog" they think nice big animal hero.

  • I love my russian blue called Mika

  • @fobfan275 hahaha that's my husbands name :)

  • russian blues really are the best companian. I have had 2 russian blues throughout my life and I love them. What the lady is saying is exactly what I love about whisper. She is very quiet and doesn't bother me all the time but she loves to stick by my side wherever I am and whenever I'm hanging out on the computer she sits with me. I love her so much I've had her for years!

  • @softlyserenademe I want to purchase a Russian Blue and I wondered where did you buy yours? I really think this is a great cat. Thanks.

  • @vylythemovie actually mine that I have now was a stray that a family friend found and gave to me but I see them at local pet stores sometimes so that might be a good place to start :)

  • @softlyserenademe Ok, because I found a website that selled them and i don't know if they shipped them or we had to go pick them up so I am a little worried. Also, I would like to actually interact with one BEFORE I buy it so I'm positive that this is the right cat for me and since the type are pretty rare its going to be pretty hard to purchase one.

  • @vylythemovie Check the no kill animal shelters. Better than buying one.

  • i absolutely LOVE!! my russian blue!! they are the ideal companion.

    lol.

  • my russian blue cries/talks ALL THE TIME! but i love him

  • very accurate. i wake up with her on my bed right by me or under my bed. she meows when hungry.. even tho food always in dish and she bolts when i walk towards her.. she always follows me around. she forgot to say they have striped tails

  • this lady is spot on with her input.

  • i love my russian blue! this video is soo accurate

  • That Talking cat Burnsy was a Russian Blue! Mines called Smokey, and he's soo cute :D

  • I have an indoor Russian Blue and he's such a great cat. Easygoing and loves people. He constantly jumps on me though.

  • I had a Russian Blue mix and he talked more than any other cat I've ever had.

  • i miss mine

  • I got 2 Russians from a breeder but only because I am allergic to cats. No regrets though, they're gorgeous cats. One of my Russians knows how to play fetch.

  • @eleanorfan1990 I was in the beginning but not as violently as compared to my friend's mixed Bengal X Mau. It took me about 2 days to react to them. After a bunch of anti-histamines and a month I finally desensitized. Not allergic anymore.

  • my russain blue (she is so mushy bingo cutness stinky skippy yaya san andreas meemee angstlich angst! mini!!! zeslich beatifull shtillshtillbenim CUTE! CUTE!!) was just roaming around the school near my house and she really is one when we brought her to the vet they all said she was pure russian blue

I would love er even if she was not a russain blue though nomatter what she is she is still my baby

  • Mine talks all the time and often demands you go after him...not very cuddly, he likes to stay close but not too close :)

  • Fuck that my russian cat live out side never had a problem of him running away

  • cool vid. I have a Russian Blue and she talks all the time tho

  • I've had one for a while and he's awesome :) he is very, very smart

  • I had a russian blue growing up and it was not gentle at all. It loved to lie in wate for people to go by so it could punce on us. It was even less gentle with the other cats and dogs on the block. He was the only cat I have ever seen chase dogs (even big dogs like boxxers)

  • We need to breed more of these cats

  • Hi, I've always loved cats so much but never really had one. My family have always been dog people while I consider myself to be a cat person. I really want a Russian Blue cat but currently own a 2 yr old Bull Terrier. I know it must be a terrible combo but i really a Russian Blue. Any advice?

  • my Russian Blue cat is right beside my right now

  • i am adopting russian blue kitten next week and i wanted to know ; will it get along with my other cat (not a russian blue) , she is 7 years old and was a mother a few times

  • I am adopting a half russian blue today from being put to sleep tomorrow. I can't wait to pick her up!!!

  • I was not allowed to have pets and a Russian Blue from next door adopted me. She spent more and more time at my house and I thought we were good friends, but now she only wants to live here. She is my dearest friend. i love sara

  • @hiddensurfer Haha, that's such an adorable story. The only time I've ever met a Russian Blue was from a neighbor's house a block down, and whenever I tried to go up the driveway to pet it, it'd run away, whereas its buddy the calico would come up to me and rub itself all over my pant legs. Haha, what silly kitties they were.

  • mushy

  • i have 2 of them both rescues =) amazing cats and funny

  • Got a little blue russian female called "Elsa" (just like in Born Free and its lioness). She lives with my other female bengal cat. They just get along very well together!

  • Got a little blue russian female called "Elsa" (just like in Born Free and its lioness). She lives with my other female bengal cat. They just get along very well together!

  • my does not shut up if you're in the room. i love him but he loves the outdoors with all his furry little heart. has his own routine for going in and out. even goes out with the dogs for the morning. got him very young and does not seem to believe he is a cat.

  • I think this is a great breed but they require a lot of attention and get into trouble without it! Mine is loving, incredibly gentle, intensely curious, best friends with my big dog, and loves people although he is partial to me. Although I think my cat is the best in the world, i wouldn't recommend him for anyone that is looking for an independent cat.

  • - unless they want to be fed! OMG my RB is a little piglet! She wants food all the time. She even cries by the dog bowl when it's close to being empty!

  • blue russian cat i love them, I really recomand them for everybody , who loves animals, they are very inteligent , i had 2 but they died so now i`m looking for another but i can`t fiind another one because they are so rare:((

  • What is the social relationship with them like? Do they make strong bonds, or have prefrences for people?

And I know how hard it is to not talk about how wonderful your pet is, but I want to get a feel for these kinds of things in order to figure out which breeds would be happiest in our home.

  • My Russian Blue has the right personality for a single person: very affectionate, but independent enough to not mind being alone. I don't know about bonding with other people, but I can say that he's very high strung and does not adapt well to change--for example, I wouldn't be able to get another cat because he doesn't like them and is too old to adjust.

And he wants to be on my lap *constantly,* which can get a little old. Still, he's certainly worth it.

  • @WhiteMageMentality Get a somali. They are the most loving, engaging, and interesting cats. Nothing beats being woken up in the morning by a somali snuggling up and purring and insisting on a good cuddle before they start their day.

  • I have a russian blue and he is very affectionate. I am in college and he loves my roommate and friends but he is partial to me. Mine loves my 65 pound dog and they play often. If you are looking for a cat that doesn't need much attention, I don't recommend this breed. He travels well, is intensely curious, cuddles with me all night every night, and spends all the time he can with people. He is by far the best cat i have ever had but without enough of attention they get in trouble!

  • @WhiteMageMentality My Wulf is a momma's boy. He does love other people just fine, but momma's his person. :)

  • My Russian Blue was a gentle loving cat who loved to give affection but hated to be held! He never meowed either...he would make a strange gurgling noise instead. We adopted a Korat who meowed which the Russian Blue eventually started to imitate. My psycho ex-wife has both kitties now:(

  • @OrisLover Did you marry her when she was psycho?

  • No, or rather, I didn't think she was psycho..like she says about me, I think she "misrepresented" herself.

  • My Rusisian Blue is very vocal. She's loves to be right next to be and she is only gentle when she wants to be. She does try to take a swipe at me and even bite. She's insane, but I havae her for it.

  • Its funny how cat breeds aren't always exact to the personalities. My Russian Blue isnt anything like this. She is loud, whingy, ANGRY, hisses, bites and attacks. She is an outdoor cat and loves being outside! That said, she has personality and i love that she is Assertive!

  • british shorthair is better i have a british shorthair he purrs all around me i am 9 yers old my cat is 1 he is playful he kisses me and headbuts me he loves me he goes good with new pets, new people and loves to eat.

  • british is better!

  • Check out my Russian Blue mongrel in my vids hehe he likes to play =p

  • i got one yesterday and its mean as hell it already attacked my dog starting chewing on my mothers plants and knocked over a plant pot and got the dirt all over and on top of that i caught it when it was ab/out to pounce on my birds cage and doesnt' like to play either it would rather attack my hand if i tried to play with it

  • NOT VOCAL??? my russian blue loved to talk to me.

  • my kitten is a russian blue! omg like 90% of what the lady says is tottaly kitten!

  • @PinkSweetHeart11 what do you mean by totally kitten?

  • how much are they usually

  • depends if its a pet cat or show cat. think few hundred euros for pet cat and up to around 1000 euros for show cat.

  • k thanks

and do you know why some look wso skinny and more grey like this one and some look more filled out and darker

  • They did some interbreeding to expand the gene pool early in the breed's history out of Russia. There were two breeding schools of thought. In the skinny ones they have been mixed with Orientals to look more sleek. I prefer the stockier type - which is what our two Russian Blues are. I think they are calmer and have less "Siamese" traits. But it is a matter of preference.

  • yeah that's what i want thanks so much I've been worried about them having the "Siamese" traits cus the siamese are kinda crazy

  • I love its fur color & texture!...this breed is similar to the british shorthair..I'm prolly gonna buy a cat but idk which breed i'd enjoy the most. I'd like an indoor cat.

  • british short hair has much tougher built, shorter legs, very muscular (think bulldog of cats). Russian blue is skinny and graceful cat. British are also not natural breed i think, and they come in variaty of colours. Alice from Wonderland cat was actually british shorthair afaik. :)

  • I Love my russian blue, I saved her from a family where the husband was abusing her and she was so scared she wouldnt come out from under my bed but now, 12 months later, Im so in love with her, and I was never a cat person until she come into my life. I love u my pretty pud.lol how sad am I lol

  • To KirillKrasov

You got it a little mixed up. Nastya is a short form of name Anastasia. Natasha is a short version of name Nataliya/Natalia.

  • I have two Russian blues one named Boris and the other named Patou and they are two nice cats.

  • For being such a tyrant, she is actually pretty smart. This cat follows commands. She comes to my bf when he calls her. She sits when commanded. She lays down when commanded. I didnt know that cats do this. I have never had a cat so I am trying to learn.

  • My bf has a russian blue and she really hates me. We are going to get engaged soon. We both agreed early on that we would never part with our pets, as I have 2 pitbulls. I dont know why she is so mean but I try to pet and kuddle her since her domain has been intruded. She scratches and bites me. She hissses. I am afraid that she will seriously injure my dogs. She loves my bf and I just dont know what to do to integrate us as a happy family. I am trying so hard to overcome my fear of her.

  • i have a russian blue , he adores me but he never lets any of my family members or friends get near him ..

i kinda think russian blues are a one mans cat ..

but i dont think you are doing the right thing tring to pet her .

the best way to gain an animals trust is patience ! if you have patience then what you need to do is just sit far from her and keep calling her .. not screaming but with a gentle voice dont get too close just sit it may take even hours but eventually she will try and get

  • close to you .. when she dose dont do anything just let her smell your hand or something whatever she wants to do.. just let her get used to having you around .. you are invading her territory taking her man and now tring to touch her who do you think you are ??

thats what shes thinking and shes right shes his first wife ^^ respect her and her privacy and let her get used to you ans she will respect you belive me .. same with the dogs dont just put them in the house : S put them outside ..

  • if theres like a glass door thats perfect put them outside and let the cat just watch them and understand whats going on .. shes not mean and shes not doind this cause she hates you shes just scared and protective .

  • I have a Russian blue called Kolja. He's 13 years old and he has been with my family since he was 2 months old. Russian blues are extremely intelligent cats.

  • my brother got his russian blue from a shelter!! we don't know where he came from but I think he was either an alley cat or a cat from a hoard.

  • haaaaaa

u got a grey MUTT not a russian blue

i can bet my house on that

  • I pity you.

  • so pray for me then ( LOL )

u got a grey mutt not a russian blue

    i guess d truth hurts

  • is it usual for a russian blue cat to be very devious ,mean, and vocaly annoying?

  • @Diamondzgalx , no they are very nice cats, I have one myself. Mine always lick's me, and sometimes he meows but thats not often. they are very friendly cats : ) not annoying

  • Can someone recommend a good Russian Blue breeder in Colorado/Wyoming?

My wife and I are looking to find one.

  • I don't know about breeders but sometimes shelters have them. Its better to get cats from shelters for many reasons.

  • I have a Russian Blue named Natasha, Tasha for short. She's beautiful and a sweety.

  • Actualy short form of name Natasha is Nastya.

  • Oh, I miss my Russian Blue.

  • i have a russian blue kitten,i love this race

  • my cats are moggies but they are cute too ^^ all cats are cute - beyus

  • How can you tell if a gray cat is a russian blue or just a gray cat? We got a gorgeous all blue/gray cat from a shelter that they called a russian blue but how can one tell? What do I look for?

  • A genuine Russian Blue should have, first of all, green eyes . The paws are braun, with a slightly lilla shade. Important: the fur of a Russian Blue has two layers (like real sable): very dense lower fur and longer but thinner upper fur. These cats are very elegant, with long slim limbs and tail. By the way, maybe the American bread is quiet, but the original Russian is extremely lively, very athletic and courageous. Any way they are quite fun. Good luck to you and your new cat.

  • Ask him

  • all shelter cats are MIXED BREED

    not PURE BREED

    except ur very LUCKY ( about 3 % )

  • adopted a russian blue today from a shelter!! :)

  • no

    i prefer abyssinian

  • @kelliesmomma russian blue in a shelter? there so cute there gone by the time you get there

  • @kelliesmomma i did too today!

  • You can get lucky. I would say that the probability is a bit more than you guessed, but not by much. It's astounding how many pure breeds are "given up" for some reason or another.

  • not in UK though

  • exactly. my russian blue was from a shelter. she had been removed from a neglectful owner and had some serious issues with people. we took a chance on her and it worked out fine. she's become a great housecat and gets along well with her siamese "stepbrother".

  • ........ Idiot.....

    Love the Blues

  • haaaaaaaaa

    ur funny

  • My russian blue is named Dante

couldnt find any cute names starting with a D..hahaha

    R.B are so cuuute

  • Mine's not very vocal but she does usually meow a greeting. Mine likes to spend most of her life in my bedroom and if I'm gone too long she'll come looking for me but usually retreats back to the bedroom again - I know it's tragic! I wake up every morning with her yellow eyes boring into me...yay breakfast time!

  • we adopted a russian blue last year and in february this year he was hit by a car :(. so sad i absolutely loved that cat and he was huge.

we tried to keep him indoors but he just would not stay and would meow always in the morning to get out to go to the toilet.

really miss him.. not sure if i should get another or not.

  • Koryan, what a sas story! But you cannot get your cat back. What you can do is to give your love and good home to someone else, who might need it. When you loose your pet, there is only one medicine agains your sorrow: get a new one, make another animal (and yourself) happy. Wish you good luck and do not be afraid to try again with a new kitty.
