I understand what you mean, but it's all in the fundamentals. A band in comparison like Slayer is considered to be Thrash Metal, but check out their lyrics. It talks of Satanism and Death and all that kick ass shit, but it's not categorize ass death metal, even so the lyrics are death oriented. So basically if comes down to the technique in which the music is played.

i hope my earlier comment didn't come off the wrong way, but i have bee playing guitar for a very long time, and i know that this song is in dropped d tuning no mater what your sources say. you did an ok job. wasn't perfect, but it may help to actually tune the guitar to what it sould be tuned to. you can find the tab for this song on the net for the guitar pro software. it's much easier in drop d tuning, the way it was written. look at the guitar pro tabs and you will see. good luck.

well man, tabs are often wrong. and for example, on the link alive cd/dvd, at one point, joe tunes his guitar after a fan reaches out for it and detunes the lowest d-string. he strums the strings one at a time, and its tuned in d standard. also, gojira DONT use one finger power chords, that's where many gojira coverists on youtube go wrong, they often play the way powerchords would be played in drop d but in standard d tuning. confusing but you get the idea.

hey man, nice job. 2 things.. mostly all, if not all, gojira songs are in Drop d tuning and not d standard. so tune the whole guitar to standard tuning and drop only the low e string down to d. and 2ndly, around 1:54 it looks like you are muting your strings with your fret hand. instead, you should just palm mute (with your picking hand) and play open chords instead of stangling the guitar around the 1st fret.

hey man, just trying to help you out, but it's actually easier to play because you are only using one fnger for the power chords instead of 2. and the people who have told you that it is in D standard tuning are just wrong. watch some gojira vids and you will see he is using 1 finger (drop D) power chords. can somebody else who knows back me up here? not being a dick, but i was just trying to tell you how the actual band plays. tryin to make it easier for ya. next time i won't bother.
