I'm confused. So the Ball carrier must be the first person at the front of the maul offensively? If so how do you move the ball to the back of the maul in order to get it out without putting somone offside?
It appears on quite a few of the lineouts, the player that is obstructing was one of the lifters. Is he still obstructing even though he never released the jumper? If so, it would seem to be almost a guaranteed penalty to do a maul from a lineout. The lifter cannot just drop the jumper. If he allows the jumper to come back down, it would be nearly impossible to get out due to the opposing players coming into the maul and binding him in.

No, the other players without the ball may not join the maul in front of the ball carrier

the other players of the ball carrier's team may not join th emaul from in front of the ball carrier.
Also, it is truck & trailer if the ball carrier is at the back of the maul and not properly bound.
If the referee calls "use it", the ball carrier may not rebind, the ball must come out.
