This is not unheard of, I work in the oil/gas sector. The oil in these area is what is referred to as, 'HEAVY', it's like TAR. The only way to get it out is to pump steam into the formation, and heat it up to a ridiculous temperature. This steam breaks down the thick oil, and it can then be pumped to surface. Usually these formation types are shallow, close to surface +/- 500meters.So if this steam comes up the backside of the pipe it can erode the ground at surface. NO CONSPIRACY, HAPPENS!

California straddles two tectonic plates, the North American plate and the Pacific plate. These two plates are seperated by a transform fault (a very large strike slip fault) known as the San Andreas fault).

another symptom of California's tectonic plates shifting prepare for major quake from Canada/Pacific NW all the way to Baja Mexico and perhaps California breaking away and into the Pacific Ocean. More evidence of major plate shifts from way down deep. Dutch did his best to warn us but the Xe Services were hired to eliminate him from warning us and that they did - he's gone and we only have ourselves to keep track of these earth changes and take heed to stay safe.

Oh yes this happened about 6-7 weeks ago, my son inlaw works out there. He said its very dangerous out there in oilfields. I told carneyart about this when it happened, actually there were 3 other guys there when it happened, david taylor was unlucky one.

I work in the oil industry in California where this happened. This is not a usual event. This was a very sad day for all of us in Bakersfield and the the industries involved. It is not like they take oil out of the ground and don't replace it, they inject water.

Theres heavy oil all over southern California, A movie was made about the oil boom in Southern Cali during 19th and early 20th centuries called "THERE WILL BE BLOOD". The oil is extracted with water in the form of steam, its called steam flooding. This makes me skeptical about the recent strange activity in the region I.E. The Petro smells in San Diego county, Steam and smoke rising hope ranch..ect. All of these may be caused by extracting oil with a more extreme form of this process.
