Sorry I haven't commented on this in forever. I want thank everyone for your kind things to say about my wonderful horse! I <3 him so much and it was a truly awesome day! Spruce Meadows is definitely a world class venue and is my favorite place to show. That day is still one of the highlights of my riding career...so far! :D
Wow great job, too bad about the 2nd round. In the first though your horse cleared the jumps with ease. Also I liked that after each jump you stayed up and didnt fall on his neck. Many riders who jump as high as your cant stay up.
you guys looked amazing! Your horse is absolutely gorgeous, makes those big oxers looks effortless! and your riding is amazing! COngrats on 11th place! I'm jealous that you got to compete with Eric Lamaze and at Spruce Meadows!
gorgeous round!! i agree with everyone...your an amazing rider and you have a fantastic horse! i can only dream of competing at Spruce Meadows! def dont think my guy can jump like that...so yeah a fancy jumper might help me get there one day! :~)
wow you did an amazing job just to get into the top 12, u also did a good job n the second round, the grass looked slippery n you where against an olympic gold medalist, i think you still did an amazing job, winning it or not!!!!!
great riding! you are incredibly soft/subtle for a rider who jumps at this height/level. great eq. too. fantastic horse too! jumping 6ft on a cross canter is no easy task haha!
Hi, Are you coming back to Spruce Meadows in 2010? Rupert won this year for the ATCO Six Bar challenge. I will tour a good number of family friends are coming.
Thanks! It was awesome. For this class you don't have to qualify per the horse show organizer's rules however the USEF has its own rules. This show has 3 FEI divisions at heights of 1.45m, 1.50m, and 1.60m. The USEF determines your eligibility for a division by your ranking on the US computer list. If you're not ranked high enough they can restrict you to a lower height or not allow you to show FEI at all. There is a National portion of the show that isn't restricted the same way.
I don't know. The poor horse had to wait for 3 hrs between rounds and he wasn't able to go back to the barn. They have stalls there but he never went to the bathroom or really relaxed. I think that had a lot to do with why he was a bit fatigued. I felt in the 2nd round he was not as strong as in the first.
wow that was great! im going to go there next year. i made the zone 10 1.20 team but stuff happened and now i cant go. next year 1.30 team!! woop woop!
Sorry you missed out on the zone 10 team. It's a lot of fun doing that so you should definetly set your sights on it for next year. Once you show at spruce you'll never want to do another show. It's awesome!
Wow! Your horse is amazing - and your first round was great. Great ride to the water and the combination. It must be incredible to ride at Spruce Meadows! Congrats!
Thank you! That's sweet. it depends on the GP but that one was at a top height of 5'3''. the spreads can be pretty wide up to around 5 feet (i think). The CN International had a 5'6'' vertical. Doesn't get bigger than that but that's pretty huge.
Yeah 5'6'' is 1.70m or just a hair under. I did the International last year and I don't remember if the 1st round had any jump that big. The 2nd round tends to be brutal and huge! You should've seen the double oxer double liverpool CN combo at the end. It's insane. And it's right after the awful black CN planks. I didn't make the 2nd round :) not even close - but in my defense I lost my stirrup to the most difficult line on course...I'll post it.
Thank you! I was really pleased with this class. So far this has been one of the highlights of my career. Hopefully this year I'll have a clear first AND second round ;-)
It was awesome! I wish they'd shown my 1st round because that was so much better. I think the 3 hrs of waiting to go in for the 2nd really took it out of both of us. By the last jump I was just so relieved to be finishing. I'm thrilled they showed me at all though. :-)
Thank you! It aired in california just last monday. it's very cool being on TV. That's a first for me. Hopefully, next season is just as good. Thanks again for the kind words. Have a great holiday season. -alicia

Wow awesome in the first round! your horse was really tired in the 2nd one (I read why, that's just too bad)... Excellent ridin anyway !
Question: how do qualify for those classes ? I see you talking about zone 10 stuff, what is that (please)?

Congratulations on your 11th place, your round was effortless and Donnie looks like a superstar.
