I was in the really pricey part of san antonio, at the mall over there and I saw so many land rovers LR3's and Range rovers in the parking lot and then when I was leaving I saw two range rover evoques. There was more mercedes than anything but I was still in awe to see so many land rovers.

Unfortunately, Range Rover doesn't have a good track record with quality. It can become very costly and will probably spend more time in the repair shop

@swinglow33 Thanks, yeah, I here you but folding is almost never an option. Press conferences are helpful to learn about the cars and in the long run it will make our full car review better. One thing I can say for sure is that it is very bad ass looking in person. It almost looks like a concept car with the exaggerated roofline slope and big wheels. It got a ton of looks!

@LoveTheCity123 Thats because Ford owned it back then. Not anymore they are way better now no more Ford messing around with things they know nothing about. Just like GM and SAAB same thing happened. My friend has a Ranger Rover Sport Supercharged and hasn't had an issue with it at all. Except the Service dept trying to get him to buy services he doesn't even need , I wouldn't fall for every gimmick they try to tell you that your vehicle needs.

@soyntgo4it What do you mean about Ford messing around with stuff they don't know about? They were as capable as anyone who had owned them previously. When they were fully a British company, Rover Cars was letting technology pass them by. When BMW bought them and owned them for years, they certainly didn't become the pinnacle of reliability. The "new" Range Rover Sport is STILL just an updated version of the ute under Ford's control. Hell the new Evoque comes with a Ford diesel engine.

@2003SCT Like I said the ruined the brand just like Jaguar they were unreliable and Volvo But now these companies are doing alot better. Thats the only thing they are using by FORD is the Engine big deal for trade on the new 4x4 system that Land Rover has developed on the new Explorer. No the new Ranger Rover isn't under Ford's control they have nothing to do with it anymore it is owned by Tata Motors owns Jaguar and Land Rover

@soyntgo4it Tata Motors owns them...you are correct on that. Almost all of that so far has been financial and strategic.However almost all design and engineering have been done by Ford and Land Rover and Jaguar. Companies design cars and platforms YEARS in advance and technologies are long pipelines through suppliers. The Evoque is still built on a slightly modified Ford platform and the new (mostly cosmetic) Land Rover Sport is still the Ford engineered and platformed Land Rover Sport.

@2003SCT Yes Ford has lost 15 million Dollars in the last 2 years on the 2 brands. Ford will continue to provide some components, including powertrains, to Jaguar and Land Rover, which are built in Britain, as well as some research and development support. Ford’s finance arm, Ford Motor Credit, will continue to provide financing to Jaguar and Land Rover dealers and customers for up to 12 months. Thanks have done the research you should try it..

@soyntgo4it What?Are you just messing with me? Well two posts ago you said only the engines are shared and other than that, all credit for these cars pretty much goes to Tata. Now, after an apparent Google search, you are saying some components and drivetrains and platforms etc. are actually credited to Ford. lol. The new styling of the likes of the Jaguar XJ and Evoque are a great step forward. But whats more than skin deep IS and WILL BE for awhile engineering from Ford.

I guess you must think that Fords involvement with Aston Martin was awful as well...lending all their ownership, engineering and powertrain development on the Vantage and Vanquish. Again, you need to understand how M&A and engineering work in the automotive world...since you obviously do not, I don't think there is much else we can discuss.
