picklehead7 - No you use small cell all year round. You never use regular foundation. The point is to try and reduce the size of the bee's so that the broad cycle is shortened and reduce the amount of Vero Mite. regular Cell Foundation is between 5.2 - 5.4 where small cell foundation is 4.9
to the post i accidentlally deleted. the use of smaller cell tyoe is it reduces the brood cycle. The mite needs a longer brood cycle. bee larva grown on in small cell emerge fast breaking the cycle.
@picklehead7 yes the difference is small but it effects the brood cycle which is the important part here. We need a shorted cycle for the mite to not develop.

Is small cell foundation used at different times of the year?
And do you use regular foundation as well?
Finally how much smaller is it than regular foundation? - like 2 tenths of a mil?
