This is pure masterpiece of Drama/Thriller genre. I like Tom Cruise but never found his acting versatile. In this film he showed brilliant/phenomenal acting. Real Tom Cruise.

Jamie Foxx, Jada Pinkett Smith and Mark Ruffalo were great too. I don't know why but this movie reminds me a little bit "The Brave One" with Jodie Foster. Final scenes were intriguing and just awesome

As for the scene with the coyote it's not only the best in the film but it's a good scene in the history of cinema.

I like this director a lot (michael mann).

He gives you motive to stand and think.

yea... my view of vincent really is parallel to yours, the coyote scene is of obvious significance to vincent. i have to say, while many view him as a villian, i just view him as misunderstood or mislead. slightly cynical, but rational. logical. music was iffy, audioslave worked, but good vid.

The first time I saw this scene, I sort of got the idea that the coyote was of some signifigance to Vicent. In many ways, I thought the coyote was sort of a metaphor for Vicent, as you see how his eyes light up when he spots the coyote, and just stares at it intently. As if you're supposed to make a connection between the two. Both are hunters prowling the city, looking for their prey. That's how I always took the scene.

I think the ending is kinda sad. Vince talks earlier about how a man dies on the MTA and nobody notices for 6 hours. He himself dies on the train, probably to be left unnoticed as the train goes all around the city he hates so much.

My bad. I blame alcohol for my poor tact. I do think that Shadow of the Sun, and particularly Chris Cornell's gritty voice, gives the wolf scene a mood and feel more in tune with the rest of the soundtrack/mood. It's a matter of subjective opionion. Again, my bad though for the lousy tact.

The coyote symbolizes Vincient, the assassin. The coyote represents the loneliness and, at the same time, commanding presence that is Vincient. It is a break from the nihilistic attitude that Vincient has held throughout the whole movie, where he stops to actually reflect upon what he is doing.
