Makoto is really sweet in it (while in the anime, you will instantly hate him, because he's pretty much a HUUUGE deuche-jerk through the whole 13 eps, so you get really happy when he gets what he deserves)

I'd suggest the manga first. Makoto, Sekai, and Kotonoha (heck, EVERYONE) is so much more normal, and very lovable/caring towards each other.

The anime screwed that up. They made it so you pretty much hate all of them very quickly.

To make it worse, she totally forgot about it, so the reading was for nothing. They never seem to publish good manga/anime over here, do they -_-;

@z55177 From your comment I assume you're allergic to fanservice, which you confuse with Cowmilk Plot Stuff(or whatever tropers call it).

Well, unlike Melancholy Love Hina has been purposely made as a harem, thus it has to have tons of fanservice, while Haruhi has used it to cover the plotholes. I personally don't mind fanservice, unless it is either overdosed or covers plotholes, which is why i barely made it through both seasons. The movie was actually good tho.

I enjoyed Clannad and Kanon for the emotional "slice of life" and I don't mind fanservice either, same reasons you pointed out, (and fanservice in those two was nice and subtle)

Love Hina had no appeal, the characters were ridiculously over the top retarded and fanservice was abused, BAD. And fail plot.

Melancholy, just didn't get it. And didn't find the chars appealing.

I made myself suffer through Kaichou wa Maid Sama - AWFUL. The characters, the plot - UGH. Shitty fanservice
