@gavinggunholdlive Yes, rubber pads, though fairly soft rubber. There is no hole in the snare pad for rack mounting - it sits on a snare stand. Thx 4 watching and commenting!
Thx! I think the camera angle makes it look a bit more cramped than it actually is. Plus, no shells on the drums allows things to be placed quite close.
That was sweet! I think one reason why some people might think you are "cheating" with electronic drums might be some of the hi-hat work on that song. You can't see the open hi-hat subtleties throughout the song. Nice precision, you kept great timing throughout the song, only tiny errors.

thx man! - good suggestion too - I do tend to tense up in the really tough parts. I definitely prefer acoustics, especially for most of Rush's stuff. Electronics have certain advantages (like no mics needed for stuff like this), but definitely lack expressiveness, dynamics and feel (though feel has certainly come a long way in recent years). Thx for commenting. Have a good one!
r those rubber pads or some other material. also can you mount the snare pad on the rack or is there no hole on the pad for that

Yeah, tough for me to stay relaxed with such fast, single-handed 16ths.
Thanks for the comment!

If you look close at the bottom left, you can see the tip of my hi-hat post - no "cheating" here... ;-)

BTW - I mix with my drums slightly louder than the song, so you can hear my mistakes when I make them. It's only fair...
