What are the specific dimensions of the magnets? Radius, thickness and weight will be a factor, also how many coils are wound? Did you hand wind the coils or use a drill or some mechanical means of winding the coils? Also you will need to measure the amps, volts and ohms of the current into the device.

put a microphone in the middle of the magnet and you will hear what you are playing. if that doesn't work try near the coils or at the centrepointe of oscillation. The Rodin Coil does this minus the magnets. Make the exact same setup elsewhere in the room; keeping it eye level may be needed and, hook the coils to a microphone for the 2nd one. If doing it through a computer, try line in and/or enable stereo mix in speaker settings. Something tells me ohms readings could be helpful. -AAN
You should get much better results by changing the coil arrangement. An axial coil around the magnet generates a flux that is 90 degrees out of phase with what you are trying to achieve. The coil should be wrapped horizontally, then the magnetic fields are aligned to push and pull against the bottom magnet. The more turns and bigger the wire gauge, the better ( Amps x Turns ). Reference the direction of the windings of the original coil you pulled out of the speaker.

Can you imagine the lights as magnets tuned into THE frequency spinning around in a disc formation? The quicker the spin the faster it is propelled and with the slightest fluctuation in one magnet determines the direction of the force?
You could connect your amp to provide pulsing for your transformer setup. This way you can find out best pulsing frequency so on for your coil size. Once you have this info you use it to build a pulsing circuit that replicates it. I like the fact that u can use a computer synthesizer to tweak pulses on the fly. Might want to think it through careful though cause I don't think the back EMF spike off the firing coil will be good for your amp.

When playing with higher pitches you can actually move things at a distance from you.
