I had a hamster. She had one black eye and one red eye, and was white and gold in colour.
She died a few years back, and how she died is a really sad story.
She used to go for daily runs in the evening around my room, and someone left the door open. She escaped and got trapped in the airing cupboard. For five days we had to listen to her squeal herself to death. I've always hated my parents for not lifting up the floor boards, because they said doing so may have brought the ceiling down.

It's worth pointing out that Syrian hamsters don't live together in pairs, unlike Chinese/Dwarf hamsters and two kept together of the same sex will fight.

@Wolfgang42m Not quite. Hamsters are desert animals. Being nocturnal would mean they only leave their burrows at night - the problem with this would be that during the nights in a desert, especially in winter, the temperature can drop to below freezing. You put a hamster in those sorts of conditions and see how long they survive. They leave early in the morning and late in the day to go out during a time when the temperature won't kill them.
they forgot to say that the syrain hamster and a few other types should be housed alone or they will fight non-stop. I had them all my life, I just got my first campbells and am please to have done so, it and the White are two of the hamster breeds who can live with its family. Do not post hate at me as I see many of you people doing here, my spelling is not the greatest so why pick on me for it? or anyone for that matter really? I try and keep my hamster awake during the day doesn't work!

@michshell531 they are pretty easy to care for.. If 1 was the easiest they would be a 4. But you will need to have money if you want to spoil them like I do.
@michshell531 Hamsters are good pets, they don't bite at least I have never had one bite me. They are fun, the bad thing is they only live about 2 years. They don't always like cage mates and can attack and kill each other. Rats are also a great pet to have. Rats are smarter than most if not all dogs. they can be litter trained. They can even be trained to do tricks. They are extremely clean animals. They are extremely loving pets.

I used 2 have a hamster who was named Ralph ( mouse and the motorcycle). He was brown with a white belly and white patches and shiny black eyes. He cleaned his fur about like every 5 minutes. He escaped monthly. He died a couple years ago of old age he was balding and walked very slowly. He was 2. We buried him in our front yard, under a tree. He was a good hamster.

(i'm sort of going through this too) Keep saying what you'll do, how you'll do it. explain everything thoroughly, Try to make compromises. Most importantly, even if you don't get one, its better then not doing anything at all. So to try and make your mother understand the pros of having a hamster. Hopefully your mother will understand.
They must be talking about some other hamsters (than i've had). Everyone told me that they'd live a year or two. I've had hamsters my whole life, and i took very very very good care of them. They ended up living like two years and 1-12 days. Rats can live 3-4 years, mayyyybee 5. But i've never heard of a hamster living more than two or so years. Their wonderful pets though...Best part of my childhood :}
My friend is a huge hamster lover which I would not expect-- she is OBSESSED with them, I love it. my hammy died yesterday, Nov 24. he had everything he needed. Just to clarify, 'hamsterballs' are not tools used to abuse hamsters. It really does depends on whether your hamster likes it or not, some does some doesn't. How do you know whether your hammy likes it or not? Never force em' into the ball as I alwys allow my hammy to choose whether or not she wants a go into the ball. Usually she loves it and will climb into it but sometimes, she doesn't. Every hamster is different that is.
i know this is hard to bielive, Whether you think it is real or not, My hamster had 3 legs. My cat got in the cage and broke her leg. Then the vet cut of the leg and she lived. The 3 months later she died :(

Definition of crepuscular: appearing or active in twilight.
Definition of twilight: the period of time between daylight and darkness.
By agreeing they're crepuscular, you're agreeing they're not nocturnal. Can't be both.

He escaped monthly. He died a couple years ago of old age he was balding and walked very slowly. He was 2. We buried him in our front yard, under a tree. He was a good hamster.

@BloggerTutorialerXD Just keep at it, not enough to make your mom mad though. (i'm sort of going through this too) Keep saying what you'll do, how you'll do it. explain everything thoroughly, Try to make compromises. Most importantly, even if you don't get one, its better then not doing anything at all. So to try and make your mother understand the pros of having a hamster. Hopefully your mother will understand.

They must be talking about some other hamsters (than i've had). Everyone told me that they'd live a year or two. I've had hamsters my whole life, and i took very very very good care of them. They ended up living like two years and 1-12 days. Rats can live 3-4 years, mayyyybee 5. But i've never heard of a hamster living more than two or so years. Their wonderful pets though...Best part of my childhood :}

My friend is a huge hamster lover which I would not expect-- she is OBSESSED with them, I love it. She once had one that got out and was in the walls somewhere, she was so determined to find it that after we hit the wall with a hammer a few dozen times we finally found it. What an interesting experience... lmao.

I had a hamster named Macy(: She was so cute and was brown with a white belly and a black line down her back. We had to get her leg amputaded because i put her in a little toy car and it got cault in the bar tht holds the wheels and spun it almost off:( I cryed non stop the whole night and felt so bad! I had a hamster that lived five years. He had lived through two cases of wet tail. I can't believe he died of old age. By the time he did die, he was balding, partially blind, and wobbling as he walked.

I remember when we first got our first pair of hamsters. The people at the shop said they were both female. And then we ended with seven babies! Sooo cute! We gave most of them away and kept two. Sadly, all of them have since passed on, but they were very sweet. <3

my hammy died yesterday, Nov 24. he had everything he needed. I don't know what caused his death :'( he might've had a diesase or something. he was behaving extrangley for the last couple of days and yesterday morning I found him dead. I'm so, very sad :'( I loved him very much. he was only 5 months old.

I had a hamster once. I must've accidently left the cage a tiny bit open because when I went to go and check on it the morning one day it was gone. I never saw it gain. :P

i had a hamster who couldn't drink from the bottle thing, so we had to get hime a little bow. My hamster after that used the bowl after we cleaned it as a "pool"

@6FaceDrak 3 years is pretty big. And 3 years isn't the max. Depends on how long you take care of it. I had my Teddy Bear hamster for 5 years.

Just to clarify, 'hamsterballs' are not tools used to abuse hamsters. It really does depends on whether your hamster likes it or not, some does some doesn't. How do you know whether your hammy likes it or not? Never force em' into the ball as I alwys allow my hammy to choose whether or not she wants a go into the ball. Usually she loves it and will climb into it but sometimes, she doesn't. Every hamster is different that is.

i know this is hard to bielive, Whether you think it is real or not, My hamster had 3 legs. My cat got in the cage and broke her leg. Then the vet cut of the leg and she lived. The 3 months later she died :(

Okay so my first hamster died after a couple of days but I was in grade one so eh... Then I got another one and that hamster lived for a long time she was a Syrian. My first one was a dwarf. Then my third one, syrian she was real naughty. Then she died after one day. So far I loved my second hamster I remember keeping her in my cage and me and my brother making a house out of Lego for her and putting her in my dollhouse and playing with her... I miss her so much!!!
