This is not the infamous "Freeze Out" game during Jordan's rookie season. This is a charity game. They only ever had one NBA Allstar game in Chicago while Jordan was a Bull and that was in 1988 when he won his first Allstar MVP. Scottie Pippen's All Star Classic was another charity game held in Chicago that also raised money for Push-Excel.
I get too emotional watchin these games...Life is too fast, always will remember jordan. I thank god for bringing us Jordan, Our God of Sports...Jordan, Ali, Woods the greatest athletes to ever live thus fat
First of all Kobe said it best: he is his own person, and a different player than Jordan.
Second, I'm probably preaching to the quoir but anyone who is jumping on the "Kobe is better" bandwagon needs to watch this video. MJ looks like a man among boys and this is his ROOKIE YEAR ALL STAR GAME!
The all-star defense is moving out of the way for him because they are tired of trying to keep him from scoring.
I watched a video of Jordan playing with the olympic team in '84 against NBA stars like Magic and Isaih. He dominated that game and he had never set foot in the NBA.
Simply: The greatest ever. "By acclamation the greatest player of all time". THE GREATEST THERE EVER WAS, THE GREATEST THERE EVER WILL BE. Thanks Michael.
Yo Hoops (this is your new nickname hoopsencyclopedia), you do know that this is the famous Jordan "freeze-out" game, where Magic and Isiah conspired to give MJ very few shot attempts in his first All-Star Game to teach him a lesson. Air had some insanely jealous contemporaries, even as a rookie! George Gervin who pretty much scored all over Mike in that game says he knew nothing about it, and I believe him, Ice was a stand-up guy.
i wish the NBA was still about actual skill and the love for the game. LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, etc. are good players(they're in the NBA), but they get overrated sometimes and can't be compared to people like Clyde Drexler, MJ, Magic Johnson, Rick Barry. too many names.
It's because of the hype. I bet you if players like Bryant and James had much less hype, they would perform better than they are now on the court. Fame makes people dumber.
MJ knew about the hype and how it can affect your game. So he started living up to his own expectations, not the media's expectations of him. He overcame the hype and got even better than the hype portrayed him.
LeBron and Kobe are two of the best in the league today, but they aren't living up to their hype.
It's kind of unfair, but it's true; their hype revolves around Jordan and the old NBA era where it was typical for the top players to average over 30 points. This season Kobe is averaging 28 ppg. Jordan averaged that his *rookie year!* Jordan consistently shot over 50% during the season. Kobe often shoots below 50%. Same goes for LeBron. Both commit 3+ turnovers a game.
man, all these young players nowadays, they cant be compared to the young mj. its like an urban legend. the 80s is the start of the modern era of basketball, and jordan averaged 27 in his rookie season.
hey son of a bitch ichbinjetarzt, none of these motherfuckers who play today can execute half of these moves jordan did in this video you dumb motherfucker. what kobe does is some gay shit that anyone can do. get the fuck lost motherfucker, you wouldn't know perfection if it came up and spat in your face. you lowlife son of a bitch.
damn it it was ironically....learn some sarcasm.why do u insult me....why? stay polite dude and dont use such words like "son of a bitch". If you want some anger come to my adress...im 1,90 metres tall and practising theiboxing.
Like Wayne Gretzky, Pele, Joe Montana, Babe Ruth is a legend of their sport; Michael Jordan is the legend of basketball. It's not an opinion, it is a fact. IT IS NOW OFFICIAL!!!!!
Jordan and Kobe are great players. Jordan by far is the better player and Kobe has a chance to go down as a top 5 player from his own era. Jordan should be compared to Shaq and Duncan who are the only leaders with multi-championships. Read my channel description. I guarantee you that it teaches you more about the game and the history of MJ and the history of Kobe.
Hoops, you continue to do it! I guess this excel game was like the rookie game now? Am I correct to hear that the rookies played the all stars? They apparently 'froze' Michael out the next day? Bird gives Jordan the props as the toughest he's played against?
I'm posed many questions but one true final statement: Jordan is gone, Jesus saves, HE has got you or you need Him.
The first clip is from the real all-star game his rookie year. That's the freeze out game. The push-excel game was the rookies vs. all-stars (not sure if they were all legit all-stars tho). They don't have that anymore.
Hoops thanks for the reply. You have said that you lived in N.Y. for a time. Did you see Mike play at the Stadium or MSG? By the way I read your stat on Jordan's shooting percentage @60% in 50pt games. Great stats, I don't know where you get em' You don't seem to get in the petty "who's better" scrums.
Please more Pistons/Bulls 87-90 esp. playoffs. I can even handle losses. Don't know if you can bear to put that up though.
Haha - I'm still in NYC. I saw MJ play 4 times (3 against NJ since NY tickets are hard). The 50 point stat sheet I did myself. It's incredible when you see who he played the best against.
I don't get too into the 'who's better' stuff because it's silly. The images and numbers speak for themselves. Besides, it's usually kids and they will grow up eventually.
Hoops you put up with me, what can I say. I saw a clip that you ran twice near the end of your lastest. Jordan in a Blue Jersy (All star, maybe.
I was Beyond the Glory, Vince Carter. I thought at that time Vince outjumped Jordan in some crazy highshool dunks. This Jordan dunk you have looks the same, suspension on strings. Where did you get the dunk contest Air Jordan warmup shots. He said the vets didn't dig that
I guess it is, the Magic game because it seems that we see it twice. I was talking about the red?black Air Jordan warmups in the beginning with the the reverse layups and dunks. Then you see later it looked like he was in a dunk contest with them on. I read that might have been the reason for the freeze out.
The warmup dunks are from a TV Charity Show where MJ played against Charlie and Martin Sheen. It was hilarious.
The freeze out happened during his rookie all-star game. MJ said he got into an elevator and saw Isiah and some other stars and was so nervous he couldn't talk. They thought he was being 'standoffish' and so they denied him the ball during the game.
1:10 was a Bulls practice clip. 8:40? That's the Celtics but are you sure you got that time right? Reply in the 'Artistry' video comments so we can take the conversation to the right video.
Ok all of youtube says your the one to ask. Jordans First NBA Game. do you have it? can you get it? I know the one aginst the bucks whe he went bannans is his 2nd. but you the man can you get the 1st??
These comments are for the Artistry concerning the Air Jordan black/red air Jordan warmups seen about 1:10 and 8: and 8:40. I didn't know if that was a dunk contest or not? Each of those clips has a black and gray color under the backboard out of bounds.
Did isiah freeze Jordan out the next year? What about some more Jordan vs. 'Nique! It's like asking Santa. 87- 91 remind me of good times. I would wait excited all day at school just see a game on WGN of CBS on the weekend. You take me back to a simple time to marvel at the ability...
Man i loved basketball when Jordan was around. Notice how Jordan kept the ball in play after the buzzard? Now a days, nobody would do that, they'd jus dribble the ball the last 10 seconds of the game.
well this was just an exhibition. Actually if you continue to play in the last few seconds these days, that is now considered disrespectful. oh well that's how the NBA plays these days....
