  • i have to agree with you Prestes Athena on the this. I think the whole "rape" was meaning more on eh lines of Seduced or taken..i'm not sure myself , but that's what i think, like when Hades "raped" Persephone, I heard the story as being Hades forcibly "Kidnapping (ie raped)" persephone , so taking her forcibly form the Earth above. So i look upon the myth as Persephone being Kidnapped and not Sexually assaulted in the sense of the word rape

    This is a complex answer one which I never fully answered myself. The ancient word for rape was essentially the same word for seduce so some scholars contend that they were translated incorrectly. You should also look at the deities titles or epithets and that is more a reflection of how they were actually worshiped. If you want me to do a video on this I can and go into more depth :)
