I agree with this video, it does not matter the race, and race can be a good cosplayer. And not to be mean, but the comments on how only asians can cosplay because they have anime features, wrong. Last I check asians did not have eyes half the size of their heads (no race does) they are not born blonde and are typically not tall. Though a lot of asian cosplay is amazing I have seen equally great ones done by westerners and outside races.

i saw one of his proudtobe Asian videos and he compared western and Asian coaplyers. he got all tthe amiture/beginner western cosplayers pictures and compared them to top notch great Asian cosplayers. i don't find that fair, there are many great cosplayers who arn't Asian. I agree with this video totally! Cosplaying ia a world wide thing! :)
Regardless of ethnicity, all of the girls in this video, with or without makeup are lovely. I can't see anything wrong with cosplaying regardless of ethnicity or anything else. If you enjoy it, do it. Personally I love to see cosplays from all over the world, because the perceptions of characters from person to person just brings out a whole different type of creativity. So everyone, have fun with it. :)

In order to vent (don't get me wrong a few of my closest friends are Asians, including 我的女朋友) and I end up getting on their case for bad mouthing other races a lot. Their is a lot of open racial intolerance in Asian cultures. That being said, I've watched a lot of anime and I have never met an Asian person with natural hair color other than black. I have yet to meet an Asian with an eye color that's not brown. Few Asian girls I know have naturally big chests. these tend to be western attributes.

Thats true i went to convention recently and i saw a picture of myself wich was taken by someone with a expensive high quality camera, and i saw snapshots of myself taken by average digital cameras. The first picture made me look very good because of the lighting and high quality of the camera, while the snpashots were more realistic and didn't make me look that good as on the high quality photograph. It's all about the lighting and quality of the camera and such.

It shouldn't matter where you are from. The point of cosplay is to get out there and enjoy yourselves. Of course there will always be more elitist cosplay, and people will always try to do the best they can, but that shouldn't stop everyday people from going out there and having fun doing something that obviously makes them happy. Something I also don't get about ProudAsian's unnecessary harshness and racism, he repeatedly says things against "Westerners" cosplaying Japanese created characters, but what if the characters are created to be European, or any other race? What if the character isn't Asian? Does that mean we still "can't" cosplay them?

Sometimes it's the viewpoint of what is perceived to be rather than what is. So, if the art form was to portray a European but the art style is not then it is culture based on perception rather than a literal instance.
I´ve always thought cosplay is about ur sewing skills, patient, being brave and creative and most of all, having good fun. All these videos about how western can´t cosplay anime, cause they don´t have "right" faces and bodies, but also responses of them, showing that u need to have "right" shape of face n eyes n "right" figure to cosplay, disgust me. But i kinda like this one, coz it shows, u can cosplay nad have fun doesn´t matter what and u also can have good shot, if u have right conditions

Not everyone is going to like you and you may be strange or weird to others but just being yourself and what you like to do matters most. I have friends who share what I'm into and some who don't still like me for who I am. Race also doesn't matter to me anymore and just proud of what I am. I'm super mixed and just felt like I didn't fit anywhere. After High school you really start to change and I think I've done good. All that really is... the heart. My Heart... defines me. It really is a matter of opinion. I think all of those girls were really pretty. Even the girl you showed towards the beginning where you showed what she looked like with and without her make-up on. I wish it was possible to get racism to stop, but it seems Proud is just one of those people who likes to hold a grudge over an entire hemisphere over things that happened in the past. (I found this video through one of his videos were he also pointed out our "enslavement" of all people.)
Even when Asians have nautral double eyelids, their eyes still look smaller because they don't have the same degree of depth in the eyesockets that make Caucasian eyes look fuller and thus bigger. Caucasians have very high crease line which is far from the lashes, this make their eyes open bigger vertically. Not only that but Caucasian eyes are also longer horizontally and open wider as well. Caucasian eyes really are bigger in every sense. I'm sorry but this is purely anthropological.

So, does this mean we who are not asian boycott this export as well? So...Not only tokyopop, but everything else goes out of business? And what if we cosplay to show our support for what happened? This is all so true! I really hate seeing all of those videos from that guy... I'm half-Japanese and half-Filipino. I have the features like those cosplayers in the pictures. (Small nose, round face, large eyes, etc.) And I do put effort into my cosplays and crossplays.

Regardless of ethnicity, all of the girls in this video, with or without makeup are lovely. I can't see anything wrong with cosplaying regardless of ethnicity or anything else. If you enjoy it, do it. Personally I love to see cosplays from all over the world, because the perceptions of characters from person to person just brings out a whole different type of creativity. In order to vent (don't get me wrong a few of my closest friends are Asians, including 我的女朋友) and I end up getting on their case for bad mouthing other races a lot. Their is a lot of open racial intolerance in Asian cultures. That being said, I've watched a lot of anime and I have never met an Asian person with natural hair color other than black. I have yet to meet an Asian with an eye color that's not brown. Few Asian girls I know have naturally big chests. these tend to be western attributes.

It was a huge thing in the middle east and Africa for years, and look at American history and how Jewish and Irish people have been treated. Thats true i went to convention recently and i saw a picture of myself wich was taken by someone with a expensive high quality camera, and i saw snapshots of myself taken by average digital cameras. The first picture made me look very good because of the lighting and high quality of the camera, while the snpashots were more realistic and didn't make me look that good as on the high quality photograph. It's all about the lighting and quality of the camera and such.

Something I also don't get about ProudAsian's unnecessary harshness and racism, he repeatedly says things against "Westerners" cosplaying Japanese created characters, but what if the characters are created to be European, or any other race? What if the character isn't Asian? Does that mean we still "can't" cosplay them?

Sometimes it's the viewpoint of what is perceived to be rather than what is. So, if the art form was to portray a European but the art style is not then it is culture based on perception rather than a literal instance.

Not everyone is going to like you and you may be strange or weird to others but just being yourself and what you like to do matters most. I have friends who share what I'm into and some who don't still like me for who I am. Race also doesn't matter to me anymore and just proud of what I am. I'm super mixed and just felt like I didn't fit anywhere. After High school you really start to change and I think I've done good. All that really is... the heart. My Heart... defines me. It really is a matter of opinion. I think all of those girls were really pretty. Even the girl you showed towards the beginning where you showed what she looked like with and without her make-up on. I wish it was possible to get racism to stop, but it seems Proud is just one of those people who likes to hold a grudge over an entire hemisphere over things that happened in the past. (I found this video through one of his videos were he also pointed out our "enslavement" of all people.)

Even when Asians have nautral double eyelids, their eyes still look smaller because they don't have the same degree of depth in the eyesockets that make Caucasian eyes look fuller and thus bigger. Caucasians have very high crease line which is far from the lashes, this make their eyes open bigger vertically. Not only that but Caucasian eyes are also longer horizontally and open wider as well. Caucasian eyes really are bigger in every sense. I'm sorry but this is purely anthropological.

This is all so true! I really hate seeing all of those videos from that guy... I'm half-Japanese and half-Filipino. I have the features like those cosplayers in the pictures. (Small nose, round face, large eyes, etc.) And I do put effort into my cosplays and crossplays.
...But I still think that cosplay is just something you can do for fun and not have to worry about what others think. No matter what nationality you are. Otaku are people that span across many nations! Be proud of who you are!

Some people (regardless of what race/skin color) are naturally photogenic/beautiful. And of course, it depends in the eye of the beholder.
Simply... photogenic beauty can be found in people of every race/skin color, cultural background.

I have Asian features (because I am originally from Japan) but I'm Italian.I think you're totally right :3 I want to clarify, however, that some characters manga / anime are western and draw them in another way,(like all rozen maiden, bianchi and gokudera from KHR) and they can not make a decent cosplay these characters. Cosplay is a hobby! It does not matter if it's perfect!the important thing is to have fun c:

So.... I REALLY think that people shouldn't make such a big deal out of this!!! JESUS CHRIST, people! I'm Asian (Filipino, to be exact ;3), and I don't freak out that "westerners" are cosplaying. One of my best friends are German and she is an AMAZING cosplayer!!!

Im an asian, and also my parents told us we have a bit of spanish blood. but i wont use this as a sugar coat to this issue.my point is, why should we make insults on both sides.are we planning to make some COSPLAY WORLD WAR? why insist right? thats why i dont agree that only asians should cosplay and are the ones who are good in cosplaying.

everyone has the right to cosplay to. dont let anyone make u feel down. but dont fly high so much either. dont we remember that there are some anime or game characters that are modified from the european era?some like aristocratic sceneries, try watching vampire knight and ouran high school host club since these shows are common. have u noticed the carriages? the antique cars? the gothic structures of their buildings? so there's no use on being selfish.

I'm too, an asian.and for me its not that bad for western people to cosplay as long as they can hold on their characters they portray.what should we focus on are to those who really ruin the cosplay culture like attitudes of cosplayers while on their costumes or even self proclaiming so much like "HEY!I AM A PROFESSIONAL COSPLAYER!YOU SHOULD ALL BOW DOWN TO ME!" even then though we all knw there's no such as a professional cosplayer.

Ok...let me start by saying who cares who looks better when they cosplay?! I think of cosplaying as something that is fun! People out there shouldn't be consumed on who looks better or who has the best cosplay...they should just enjoy themselves. Westerners aren't cosplaying to be racist, and I don't see how anyone could see it that way! Cosplaying is meant to be something fun and a way to express yourself at conventions, not to create battles between the races. I wish people could accept that..

its a good thing that westners appreciates our culture.. and i would like to.emphasize that where ever it is.. what evr race it is.. there would be good and bad cosplayers on both races.. and nope. cosplaying is fun. i know. cosplaying is for fun. for self fulfilment for recreation..for arts.. craftmanships on making our own costumes.. being detailed and enjoying evry part of it. ah.. and most of all.. its for the organizers' busimess soo ugly or not aslong as theyr earning theyr not gonna care

i am an asian.. and living now in asia. ive.been cosplayin.. and yes i do believe that photography has a huge role in making cosplayers pretty.. but the.point.is.. if you want to see pretty faces.. go to a pageant show.. cosplaying is for all the races.. ugly or pretty the important thing is your cosplay should work.. i hvent seen any westners being racist on asian about cosplay yet. i think they are pretty aware that since its part of us since the start we should know alot about it..
