I can't explain it, but that chord change around 3:31 is my favourite part of the song. I love this tune. It's like a California, Beach Boys flavoured pop song washed up on the Jersey shore. I love how there's a hint of melancholy under the sunshine and daylight. And isn't it comforting to see that more that 30 years later, Bruce is still under the boardwalk?

I can't understand why this song didn't become a big hit last summer. Just about this time last year I heard it for the first time and I was convinced that on every boardwalk at the Jersey Shore, I would hear this over and over, but NO, not once! Why not?????

Great Question. Same with Radio Nowhere. great Song, but idnt go real high on the charts. These young snot kids today just do not apreciate real music. This song will always associate summer in new jersey for me. It's up to us to keep it the hit that it really is

I agree! Although, I'm 21, and a Bruce fanatic. Not all of us youngsters are hanging out in our rooms listening to the Jonas Brothers....etc. I proudly have Bruce Springsteen, The Beatles, Edith Piaf, The Doors...etc in my CD player, and on my MP3 player! : )

That's if taken literally. For me, it means that whatever I once dreamed about, or realistically hoped to obtain, is now out of reach.
It's a sad song lyrically, but those lyrics are hidden beneath the beautiful, upbeat melody.
Just one more example of why he's Bruce Springsteen, and everyone else is not.

I was also at the taping of this video. It was one of the true highlights of my life...seeing Bruce up close and personal. This song will always hold special meaning for me..I'm a jersey girl! Great photos! Thanks for posting...i love watching it over and over again!
