  • Wonderfull <3

  • Omega Centauri is a dwarf galaxy which will eventually be cannibalized by the supermassive black hole at the center of the Milky Way, providing that the Andromeda - Milky Way collision in 3 billion years time doesn't beat to the punch ...

  • I think it would take a lot longer than 3 billion years (a long time, indeed) for Omega Centauri to be eaten up by the black hole. Much more likely is that it will be disturbed by a close encounter with another minor galaxy or cluster, or that it meet the common fate in a collision with Andromeda while quietly orbiting the Milky Way. As a globular cluster, it must have a very stable orbit at this time.

A BH can't "eat" what it can't reach, any more than any other star.

  • Something's wrong with Youtube ... its not taking my ratings or comments ... anyone else having the same problem?

  • nop, i can see your comments, don't worry.
