This looks like a good bike ad. My most expensive bike costs half as much as monthly passes throughout my biking area (VTA, SamTrans, MUNI, CalTrain all zones, AC Transit, BART, San Benito County Transit, and Santa Cruz Metro). Most of my bikes cost less than a VTA Express Monthly pass.
VTA 68, 22, and SamTrans 390 are completely within my biking range, as is Santa Cruz Metro 35, CalTrain, AC transit 99, San Benito County Transit Business District, and BART Fremont-Millbrae lines.
El Camino is actually my favorite route for going to San Francisco.
Gugario, I don't normally ride on ECR. From downtown San Jose I usually take Park St. to Santa Clara, get over to Homestead which I ride to Foothills, then Foothills into Palo Alto.
Alternate route is Central Expwy, but I don't care for that road much. Monroe to Evelyn is also popular. From Evelyn in Mountain, cyclists get over to Middlefield or California Ave then bike bridge to P.A. depending on destination.
Hi there! Great video! It's a shame there aren't good bike paths to go north in the South Bay. I wanted to ask how long the 20 mile commute usually takes you, and if you have any advise/comments on biking at El Camino. Thanks! And keep on riding.
This is a cool video, mounting the camera on the bike frame gives good perspective without wild pan and tilt like a helmet mounted camera.
Yes, sometimes I find bikers irritating hogging the lanes but I stay out of their way. Unfortunately many car drivers don't keep a safe distance from bikes (them cars can be worst than man-eating sharks!) so be careful out there.
You might note, Chayme, that there are no bike lanes on ECR. If you watched the video you'll also note that I stopped at all reds and stops, nor did I cut any other vehicles off.

I wish bikers like you would get hit by a damn bus! breaking laws and being assholes by cutting vehicles off, running lights, stop signs and not staying in your damn lane...actually they should rip all bike lanes out and require you back onto sidewalks!!!you all deserve to eat shit n die!

I'm not too familiar with Peninsula biking routes -- I normally keep to the South Bay.
San Mateo County just published a new bike map that's a huge improvement over the old one. I know Redwood City has them for $1 each.

There is no bike lane on El Camino Real.
