Hey, I just reinstalled my OS, thus I had to reinstall the drivers (no, the player doesnt work without them). I had it plugged in already while installing the drivers and after the installation, the screen turned black. I plugged it off and resetted it and I was happy that it still perfectly worked... except that my PC cannot recognize it anymore. Got any clues? Any chance to format the player, or is it completely broken? If yes, can I make use of the warranty? Thanks for the help.
@DonnyRedNr1 its hard for me to know since its been 2 years since i've had the player, but the first thing you might want to do is uninstall the drivers, the reinstall them WITHOUT the zen plugged in. then connect the player when the driver install is done.
Thanks for the reply. I tried that - didn't work. But I tested the player on another PC and it worked fine, so luckily it seems only to be a conflict with my PC. Cleaned the registry, but that didn't solve it, but I'm sure I will find a solution for it :). See ya!
I have this freaking annoying problem. When I plug the USB cable into my mp3 to my laptop, my ZEN moziac file doesnt appear in my laptop. Whats wrong ?
@IWAN3259 check the device manager to make sure when you are plugging the zen in, it shows up and is running properly. if it doesnt show up, or an Unknown Device shows up, there's a driver issue. get back to me and see what it says.
Okay, if you say the mosaic sounds worse then the clip, I will believe you.I think the sound on my clip is great but indeed it's "warm" and if you listen to it a lot you will notice that it is not very clear in the treble area.My sister has an old samsung YP-1 that sounds clearer somehow, alltho it lacks the middle-tones.years ago I had a zen and it sounded really well to.I have to say, the sansa satisfies me on allmost all points exept batt-life, it's annoying.Any other suggestions ?
@flauwegeit to be completely honest, the iPod nano 5th gen has been the best mp3 player ive used. good highs and mids. decent lows. great battery life and perfect for music, podcasts, and audiobooks. i have yet to find a better audio player. and i am not saying that as some kind of "hey just get an ipod" kind of thing. i really love using it. between that and my sansa fuze, you cant really go wrong

@flauwegeit the sansa clip and fuze use the same audio config so its exactly the same for both. i also have a clip and i think it has some of the warmest and clearest sounds a media player could get. the fuze is just as good. the sansa clip+ is probably your best best. it has a micro SD card slot, so you could pretty much have 32GB of music on the thing if you really want. battery life isnt the best, but for the price, its nothing to laugh at.

@flauwegeit you may not be too happy with the sound. keep in mind that this thing is just shy of $40. the sound is passable, but when i compare it to my Sony S series or my Sansa Fuse, there is just no competition. the Mozaic is just fine for 128kbps audio, but if you want to load some 320kbps music, you wont be hearing nearly as much as you would with higher end mp3 player.
battery life at the moment (its been years, mind you) is at about 33 hours on a single charge. cant knock that...
I have one question: can you turn it on when its inside your pocket and get it to play all audio, skip to a next song and most of all: can you find the volume buttons blindly or do you have to look at the screen to find them ?
@flauwegeit the weird thing about the zen series is that when music is playing, the screen will dim, but never shut off unless you flip the lock switch. so you will pretty much stay on the Now Playing screen where you can change songs, adjust volume and, if you use it as much as i did, navigate the entire device completely blindly. besides the ZEN, its one of the easiest mp3 players to use.

i have a problem...sometimes my player stops playing music and is blocking. it returns to normal if i push the reset button. is this a serious problem??
@magnus067 i did with the moto cliq, htc touch pro2, and mytouch 3g chargers. even got it to charge from the usb on my ps3. it has a very generic charge rating so many chargers work with it.
you have to charge it from the computer, but ive found that wall USB chargers that you plug a cable into for PSP, most cell phones, and DS work to charge a lot of Creative media players.
@UltraSober kinda weird but okay... i have an ipod nano and a 4th gen ipod brick and i still think the mozaic is on par. its more meant to compete with the sansa clip and other smaller mp3 players while the Zen itself was made to compete with the Nano. this one is just for music and high battery life.
At this point in time, I would recommend looking into all the MP3 players in this range. I have been looking at the iAudio 9 for awhile and am really liking its specs, many more audio formats, more video formats (with subtitle support) and a sleeker design. The Mozaic is looking pretty dated these days and there are great competitors offering more bang for your buck.
i have a 4gb one. I like it. I just got it. Is it hard to download music and do you have to pay to download music for it. So far i like it but i need to add some more music lol
i dont pay for music. I can't say where to get it because of legal issues, but Amazon MP3 is a good place to buy music, also Rhapsody is a good service. try those out and see if you like them

I have the 16GB version of the Mosaic which has a slightly different design but the same features i think. It has the built in speaker on it but i cant get it to work....when ever i play a song without the headphones i just don't get any sound and i heard you have to open the menu and set the speaker on/off from there but i haven't got the option either....any idea's?

Fuze kicks the Mozaic on everything except battery, but even then, ive left the Fuze out playing for upwards of 17 hours and it was still playing!! it was an accident and i was sure it would have dies, but the thing was still on repeat....
The Fuze plays more audio formats including .ogg and flac, it plays movies using less power, and has a great screen.
Hmm, the thing is that im already pushing 13gb with my music library and fuze is only 8gb. And i heard that is takes forever to refresh, and even longer with a SD card. Any suggestions on what to do? what player should i get. would you recommend creative ZEN?
the alarm does worrk with the speakers. i tested that and it is effective. off the top of my head, i can recall that the Zen X-Fi has a speaker. also the samsung YP-K5. those are the only ones ive seen..
am thinking of buying the zen moisac 4gb in walmart in august when i go to america. but some people say the walmart one doesnt have a built in speaker will the mp3 still be good without it
you dont have to buy it at walmart... but theirs doesnt have a speaker OR a radio! i live for radio so without it, the player is kinda useless.
I suggest you look at all the options they have at walmart. the Sony players are great, Sansa has their slot card music all over walmart too. they are micro sd cards that fit with their Sansa Fuze player which i use more than any other player.
I dont know what local electronics stores you have in your area, but i got mine from Fry's Electronics. they have the 16GB model there and a bunch of accessories.

i dont understand how anyone can't figure that out. it tells you in the manual on the cd and its pretty much self-explanatory when you install centrale.
when you use your password. set the status to Show. then find a folder in your device's video/tv/pictures section, highlight it, and push the menu button. you will see a "hide folder" option. push that and then go back to the systems section and set the show'hide option back to "Hide" the folder will disappear and only show when you use the pass again. I use this option for all downloaded movies just in case the government comes knocking on my door...
Ok, tell me this. How the heck do you get the password to work on this fellow? I set it, and it does nothing. Just requires me to enter it to switch from "Show" to "Hide"
did you install the software off the disk? that has the drivers needed to run the device. if so, then you should be able to uninstall the device in device manager. i can tell you how if you want.

I got a zen mozaic yesterdey but brught it back to circuit city because I suppossed doesn't work. The manual says that when charging the first time the light is brinking. But mine wasn,t so I thought is defective. But I liked it a lot and I need to know if yours work (the light) since the begining when connect at usb port even before the three hours recommended.
i never look at the blinking light, i look for the lightning bolt on the screen's battery icon. as long as that shows up, your battery will always be charging.
My Centrale software can only transfer Music and Picture Files. It got stuck with a message "pending for transfer" for Video File.
Creative technical support gave up on the problem.
Can anyone tell me how to convert the video file to ZEN Mozaic using third party software.
Unfortunately, I have deleted all the promotional avi video that come with the ZEN Mozaic so I do not even have one that plays. Can anyone send me a ZEN Mozaic avi video. Cheers.
in all honesty, i wouldnt use this player for video. the screen is very low resolution and videos come out very small, pixelated, and often, the creative central program skips frames making the video choppy.
If you want a Creative player with Video, get the Creative ZEN. Its really cheap right now and even has a community based around making Themes and Fonts for the player thanks for Firmware modding. if you look around, you could find an 8gb for less than 90USD.

Thanks again .. precious info.I have a sansa clip do you think that sounds as good as the sansa fuze? I am actually looking for a player that:
1.plays music, nothing else is important
2.sounds impeccable
3.long battery life, at least 24 hours
4.has a simple 1-D oled or screen, no 3d graphs, I think its so uncool
5.has a radio with auto track
6.plays LOUD
7.has a lot of Gb storage space, at the very least 4gb
8.loads via USB both energy and the files+simple drag and drop folder
9.No joystick

Haha! i'd suggest find a friend and have them open it.
Fuze kicks the Mozaic on everything except battery, but even then, ive left the Fuze out playing for upwards of 17 hours and it was still playing!! it was an accident and i was sure it would have dies, but the thing was still on repeat....
The Fuze plays more audio formats including .ogg and flac, it plays movies using less power, and has a great screen.

Hmm, the thing is that im already pushing 13gb with my music library and fuze is only 8gb. And i heard that is takes forever to refresh, and even longer with a SD card. Any suggestions on what to do? what player should i get. would you recommend creative ZEN?

the alarm does worrk with the speakers. i tested that and it is effective. off the top of my head, i can recall that the Zen X-Fi has a speaker. also the samsung YP-K5. those are the only ones ive seen..

am thinking of buying the zen moisac 4gb in walmart in august when i go to america. but some people say the walmart one doesnt have a built in speaker will the mp3 still be good without it

you dont have to buy it at walmart... but theirs doesnt have a speaker OR a radio! i live for radio so without it, the player is kinda useless.
I suggest you look at all the options they have at walmart. the Sony players are great, Sansa has their slot card music all over walmart too. they are micro sd cards that fit with their Sansa Fuze player which i use more than any other player.

funny that i dont play online games at all. it was an impulse buy at the cash register. and it didnt work....

Okay. This is how it is. If you buy this player ANYWHERE ELSE Except Wal-Mart, It will have both FM radio and a Built-In Speaker.
Wal-Mart sells the LX version which has neither of these features. it is just a music and video player.

if you have alot of itunes format songs, the ZEN plays .aac files. this one doesnt so thats something to consider.

if you download them in .flv format, they wont load right. i recommend you download them in .avi format then transfer them with centrale.

when you use your password. set the status to Show. then find a folder in your device's video/tv/pictures section, highlight it, and push the menu button. you will see a "hide folder" option. push that and then go back to the systems section and set the show'hide option back to "Hide" the folder will disappear and only show when you use the pass again. I use this option for all downloaded movies just in case the government comes knocking on my door...

did you install the software off the disk? that has the drivers needed to run the device. if so, then you should be able to uninstall the device in device manager. i can tell you how if you want.

I got a zen mozaic yesterdey but brught it back to circuit city because I suppossed doesn't work. The manual says that when charging the first time the light is brinking. But mine wasn,t so I thought is defective. But I liked it a lot and I need to know if yours work (the light) since the begining when connect at usb port even before the three hours recommended.

i never look at the blinking light, i look for the lightning bolt on the screen's battery icon. as long as that shows up, your battery will always be charging.

that pretty much all your decision. ipod nano's battery life is a fraction of this, but it plays vids better.
the only reason i got this player is for the 42 hours i get on the battery. video doesn't do anything for me as i still have my ZEN and Zen Vision:W.

My Centrale software can only transfer Music and Picture Files. It got stuck with a message "pending for transfer" for Video File.
Creative technical support gave up on the problem.
Can anyone tell me how to convert the video file to ZEN Mozaic using third party software.
Unfortunately, I have deleted all the promotional avi video that come with the ZEN Mozaic so I do not even have one that plays. Can anyone send me a ZEN Mozaic avi video. Cheers.

in all honesty, i wouldnt use this player for video. the screen is very low resolution and videos come out very small, pixelated, and often, the creative central program skips frames making the video choppy.
If you want a Creative player with Video, get the Creative ZEN. Its really cheap right now and even has a community based around making Themes and Fonts for the player thanks for Firmware modding. if you look around, you could find an 8gb for less than 90USD.
