  • i just rediscovered this song a few days back. I loved this song back in the 80's, i love it still. timeless. thanks for sharing the vid.

  • Jeffrey may have created it and introduced it to Michael but no one can ever EVER perform the Moon Walk as good as the gloved one did..................Rip Michael

  • jeffrey used to be fine and wow howard would be o k now a day if he lost some weight, dick's daughter is alright as a singer but she will never be up as high as Jody cause Ms Watley has a unique voice then and now and greedy old dick need to make amends to everyone that he did wrong to

  • Jeffrey Daniel is the King. The original Moonwalker! This song makes me crazy

  • I love Jody to death but this young lady can sing better then her. However, something just isn't right without her. The three of them just clicked. It will never be the same Jo Jo come back.

  • Carolyn Griffey is the daughter of Dick Griffey the man who formed Shalamar out of two Soul Train dancers (Daniel and Watley) and plucked Hewett from the LA Club circuit.

If Jody joined (and she has been invited back) they would sell out concerts ... but Jody has some resentment over some stuff and does not like be asked about Shalamar reunions.

  • @GeneralTrousers i continue to come across these erreneous comments about ms watley but only when it's a shalumar fan, resentments why? she's her own successful artist where does this fantasy come from? why should she come back to this nostalgia stuff and glorify the same people who tried to hold her back and still diss her? just watched a hewett clip where he refers to her being in "jodyland"? they resent her imo . she's progressive they just want to cash in. this new girl, well she tried lol

  • @GeneralTrousers Jody, Jeffrey and Howard did reunite in 1996 for Babyface's Cover of their classic For The Lover In You. They did perform on the show Top of the Pops and Jody said the chemistry wasn't there. Check out her Unfiltered on You Tube

  • Anytime someone is replaced they shouldn't even be allowed to call it the same name. Jody should come back.

  • Good performance, however, Jody Watley can NEVA be replaced!!

  • where is jody?? i saw them live in lagos, nigeria when they came to play at my university... great stuff...1981/2 jefferey daniels did his moonwalk and the whole theatre went mad...!! long before micheal jackson came out with it..

  • @horus1971

Isn't that the truth! Jody is one of kind!

  • tnx for posting, had a nice time.

  • hewitt is sensational here

  • great posting.ive got some old cassettes (remember them??) in my loft.gonna have to dig them out.thankyou :-)

  • Shalamar Rocks!! My favourite group of the 80's I even joined their fan club. Keep going with the great music.

  • Carolyn griffey is indeed an excellent replacement, the show must go on! I look forward to new material and wish Her, Howard, Jeffrey, and Jody the best. Great Post!!!

  • I love Shalamar the new and old

  • that wasn't Jody Watley!

  • No it wasn't!.. That was Carolyn Griffey..vid description says so too!

  • Sorry, her flavor in this music didn't match. Yeah she could sing but it's not the same without Jody

  • It's funny, I don't really come on You Tube to watch these clips, only with my children, however it's nice to see what people think and if I may add my thanks to all in support of us and the new Shalamar venture and we are working on new Shalamar material, however, to me there will never be another like the original! I was there and they were MY FAVORITE group of all time!!!!! HOWARD, JODY & JEFFREY together were timeless and I off all know that. C GRIFF

  • You do a wonderful job! Great to hear you are working on new material. I hope Shalamar will perform in Greensboro, NC sometime soon.

  • Great job. Maximum respect. A MAJESTIC woman!

  • cgriff03, thanks for your reciprocity, good luck(^-^)

  • i like caroline, she has great voice, and she is Q.

  • If Jody comes back, Carolyn has a great voice for a solo gig.

  • It's too bad Jody couldn't join, but the replacement is good too. Besides, by the time the group disbanded, both Jody & Jeffrey had left the group, so there were no original members.

  • NO JODY= NO SHALAMAR

  • Exactly...you can replace Jeffrey Daniels. Hell, they did originally. But Hewitt and Jody? They are the lead singers for crying out loud... distinctive voices, and it didn't even sound the same. Might as well have been a tribute band.

  • I dont agree ..Though Jeffrey was not alead singer, he was an essential part of the Shalamar magic. He had a pretty good falsetto, and you might have THOUGHT it was Howard. Shalamars popularity in some places lie in JD dancing and charisma more than anything else!

  • Thank you. Plus Jeffrey and Jody are the original members of Shalamar. There were two other male lead singers including Gearld Brown before Howard joined in 1979. Jeffery's dancing, harmony and charimsa made the group special, along with Jody and Howard's voices and style.

  • Awesome, of course, but that's never "I can make you feel good"... silly host.

  • where's jody!

  • Nice to see real talent that can sing songs without editing by the studio

  • Shame Jody Watley isn't there - not really the same without her!

  • Jeffrey and Jody were the most amazing dancers on Soul Train!

  • You have got to Love Shalamar! If you would like to see more on Howard Hewett watch him on the popular Gigi Iam show. Watch GGTV!

  • eeeexxxeeeelenteeee

  • Nice to see the host acknowledge Jeffrey Daniel as the real originator of the moonwalk; it was known as the backslide long b/4 MJ knew about the move. Jeffrey Daniel taught MJ the move.

  • Carolyn is beautiful black woman

  • Sorry babies but it is unlikely that Jody Watley will ever return to Shalamar now that she's #3 on the Dance Charts this week with "I Want Your Love." I'd love it as much as any of you but it ain't gonna happen folks. Young Ms. Griffey does a fine job and I agree with sanpandy that any new Shalamar is better than none at all. Can't wait till they come to LA ...

  • I could kick myself, when was this screened on TV?? thanks for posting

  • Come on Jody! Give it up! The past is the past! Well 2 out of 3 ain't bad. Go Jeffrey + Howard!! Give the U.S. this treat. Trusting Miss Watley will give in. Nothings forever....

  • hice clip thanks for posting

  • Carolyn is the daughter of Dick Griffey (of the SOLAR label) and Carrie Lucas ( also signed to SOLAR). Carolyn knew the group all her life, & no doubt is thrilled to be a part of the group.Shalamar isnt quite the same w/out a female member, & while she isnt Jody, and isnt trying to BE Jody ( nobody can be Jody BUT Jody,) she is a good replacement. She shares the grp magic & helps recreate the sound we love about Shalamar! I'd rather have a "new" Shalamar any day than NO Shalamar!

  • I agreed with your comment. I take semi-new Shalamar, than no Shalamar. Yes, she no Jody W. but, Carolyn is not a bad replacement.

  • No wonder where Carolyn got the good looks from...........her moms wuz tha hottest thang!!!

  • Hey sanpandy, u r so sweet and thank you for the compliment! Nobody can take Jody's place and I wish there was no need to but the show must go on.... I appreciate u knowing your stuff.... God bless!!!

    C Griffey

  • Thank you! Its an absolute pleasure that you posted a response!...the fans are waiting!

  • Please...who is that chick trying to fill in Jody Watley's shoes...She needs to quit!~ WEAK

  • notice jodys replacement

  • When was this? Who is Carolyn?

  • super performance

  • Shalamar forever!

  • Daaaaamm!

I can't believe I missed this on TV!

    Big up, wicked as always!
