  • CUTE. SHAME ABOUT HER SPEECH IMPEDIMENT. COULDN'T UNDERSTAND A SINGLE WORD.

  • @LUKADATAS I think it's a problem with the fidelity of the audio, you can download the series "Twistin The Rock"... and there you can find a clean version of this song (btw she had a great voice)

  • @JPandCo i was just making a joke - explanation - she's singing in french - further explanation - i dont sprechen da frog. (bracketted reply - no kidding)

  • she had never recorded any lp during her career. Only ep's on barclay label and AZ label.

  • jE NE ME SOUVIENS PLUS DE MA PREMIERE CIGARETTE, MAIS MA PREMIERE PIPE OUI !!! COMME TOI, J'avais seize ans !!!

  • aha du délire!

  • My god, Gillian's even cuter and prettier here than she was in The Owl Service - which is something I really wouldn't have thought was possible...

  • She is amazing in the film, Beat Girl. She looks like Bardot!!

  • Miss Hills apparently penetrated the Gallosphere some time before her Blow-Up colleague, Jane Birkin. She was probably a globe-trotting trust-fund brat in the Peaches Geldof mode, only with better looks and actual talent to back it up.

I wonder whether she ever fell under Serge Gainsbourg's, er, radar?

(It's a great shame, incidentally, to see such a pretty girl starting to ruin her looks and health with smoking.)

  • I'm glad to read such a good appreciation! Actually she was a beautiful actress and singer who had a pretty nice repertoire. Gillian Hills appeared before France Gall, and there are many many singers who were greater than France Gall. Gillian actually sang one written by SG, that I actually don't like. "Bufalo Bill" is a song written by SG to Stone and I don't really like it also. I think France Gall is famous due to all her vids who are running through internet.

  • many people have already sent me messages about being kind of hard with this girl, but I'm trying to grab the attention of youtubers to other unknown singers. Gillian Hills would be practically forgotten if there were no compilations like "Twistin the Rock" who has saved singers like Jocelyne. FG is a very nice singer, but is still famous thanks to Michel Berger (who was actually a ssuuper good writer with Patricia Paulin). Many good vids of the 1960s have been forgotten, anf FG is already compl

  • @JPandCo She doesn't float my boat - never did! As a red blooded male I can tell you France Gall has me droolingevery time I see any of her videos covering many years throught the 60s, 70s, 80s 90s and even now! Why do you think Gillian Hills is unknown - because she had no talent perhaps! I remember her and FG - and FG was the one for me - then and now.

  • @thompsi99, I'm glad to see you took your time :D well, I do think she had talent and a good voice, she recorded many EP's, but unfortunately she was not talken in consideration at her time. I don't think she's unknown... that comment I post it 2 years ago I think, she appeared in some films, changed the color of her hair too many times and was very grroovy! I invite you to listen to more songs of her and you'll find a great example of the early French yè-yè

  • @thompsi99 just looked up france gall on youtube.....i wouldn't climb over gillian to get to france....watch beat girl..mmmmmmm...she'd be trouble and fun in equal measure....

  • She's just adorable. :D

  • Early(?) sixties faded memories come back to life with this charming little piece.

  • Almost 50s I think!

  • and part 2:

    we were doing some (?)

and i was thinking that i was going to be vanished

I was having some tears under my eyes

    and it was delicious

But i don't know if it was because of the tabaco or because, because of something , something that Jimmy told me that night: I love you

    _

So this song is a perfect example of a 60's french song, lyrics were "blah", music were simple but all of this were charming! Was'nt?

  • OK folks, here my translation ( part 1) My first cigarette: Six month ago, i was 16 yes, and him was too In this mansion, where there were all those students, my friend Jimmy was there Oh Jimmy, Jimmy, he was a champion I remember one night where near the talkbox, for the first time, i hold in my fingers a cigarette and jimmy , jimmy was with me my heart was almost beatin' hard but his one, was normal
  • To Stompallliberals-

Hope that you've seen the film Beat Girl with the gorgeous Gillian Hills.

Recently saw the unexpurgated version of this 1959 gem and it was far superior to the version that's been broadcast on a local college station here in PA. Check it out if you can!

  • What a beauty!

Recently saw the 1960 English film 'Beat Girl' and Gillian Hills is

a total knockout. Those eyes...she does kind of look like Bardot. Wow!

  • Could someone post an English translation of the lyrics?

Ah, the innocent days when a young person's first cigarette was a rite of passage, and smoking was sexy!

  • Furry lungs a speciality!

  • smoke dat ciggy baby
