Did anyone else notice that when the TIE fighter gets on Luke's tail and I think it's red leader who says "Red 6 can you see red 5?" then red 6 asks where red 5 aka Luke is? Red 6 is Porkins who was shot down already before the fighters even came in
@ussmissouri63 It's easy to believe, that, in the heat of battle, not all of the rebel pilots knew Red 6 had been killed. It's also possibility that the person asking Red 6 if he had seen Red 5, was a mistake.
In truth, when I was re-editing this, I just couldn't separate the voice and Sound effects from the musical score that everyone in the world can recognize. It was hard enough, just to re-edit it this way without messing up the musical score.
And let's not get started on the tactical stupidity shown by both the Rebels and the Imperial Forces. Three ship formations to start with! Air forces around the world saw the fallacy of that in the early 1940s!

I say that there were other heroes in that battle other than Luke, so I wanted to convey that Wedge took out one of the laser cannons and someone commended him on a job well done. As far as Leia looking relieved, I'm sure, as a leader sending troops in on a suicide mission, she felt bad for every pilot that died as it happened. Wedge didn't die at that moment, so she felt relieved. Heck she might even known him personally.
There is science now that if fully utilized will even eclipse the imaginations of these artists. Google "Scalar Waves" and you will see hundreds of informative links.
This sure makes for a more interesting version of the battle; but that cut footage was kinda... painful to look at compared to the current footage. Probably because of how sluggish it all was. Not to mention your cutting of some of the dialogue kinda messed up the pacing of the whole thing. Like where Luke thanks Wedge for intercepting the TIE that was on his back.
I wonder if they'll try and do something like this for the Blu-Rays.
But you don't see or hear any damage from Vader firing at him in this re-edit. It looks like he evades Vader's shot but then decides to initiate a kamikaze dive.

Did anyone else notice that when the TIE fighter gets on Luke's tail and I think it's red leader who says "Red 6 can you see red 5?" then red 6 asks where red 5 aka Luke is? Red 6 is Porkins who was shot down already before the fighters even came in

@ussmissouri63 It's easy to believe, that, in the heat of battle, not all of the rebel pilots knew Red 6 had been killed. It's also possibility that the person asking Red 6 if he had seen Red 5, was a mistake.
In truth, when I was re-editing this, I just couldn't separate the voice and Sound effects from the musical score that everyone in the world can recognize. It was hard enough, just to re-edit it this way without messing up the musical score.

@moruitelda You say I took it out of context. I say that there were other heroes in that battle other than Luke, so I wanted to convey that Wedge took out one of the laser cannons and someone commended him on a job well done. As far as Leia looking relieved, I'm sure, as a leader sending troops in on a suicide mission, she felt bad for every pilot that died as it happened. Wedge didn't die at that moment, so she felt relieved. Heck she might even known him personally.

This sure makes for a more interesting version of the battle; but that cut footage was kinda... painful to look at compared to the current footage. Probably because of how sluggish it all was. Not to mention your cutting of some of the dialogue kinda messed up the pacing of the whole thing. Like where Luke thanks Wedge for intercepting the TIE that was on his back.
I wonder if they'll try and do something like this for the Blu-Rays.

@KaitainCPS Ugh. In the original 0:36 was shown as what caused Red Leader to go down. I grew up watching the original and I don't really like all the re-edited versions with more CGI and things like Greedo shooting first.
