copied? haven't heard the original one by Ustad sahab. Tunes can be copied but can the singing be rivalled, there's not a single personality today in HFM that can rival Rafi, Manna Dey, Asha Bhosale. The singing, the lyrics, the aura, is what makes this song amazing!
lazad87 - thanks for this as I wasn't aware the MD had copied the composition. Does anybody know if Ustad Khan's name was mentioned in the film credits as it would be a shame if it wasn't?
I remember watching a clip of this on the only asian tv programme on the bbc when I was younger, amazing how I've just found it, thanks for the upload
Wow, let me try to describe what I feel and think about this immortal Filmi Qawwali. If the music lovers do not agree with me, then my humble request would be to pardon me. ”In the history of music in our subcontinent, hundreds of filmi qawwalies have been produced both with small and high budget display. But this Filmi Qawwali has no extravagant projection. The producer of this film has gathered all the petals of the rose in such a classic way that it has become an immortal gift".(26th Dec.2010)
I hope and wish the Indian cinema lovers will keep these songs in such a archive that it is never lost or destroyed, one gets to hear and se such great composition by the great masters in thousand years,Manna da and Roshan the great duo's.
just to point out that thuis tune is very slimar to Nusrat Qawwali: Na Butkade Ki Talab Mujhe, Na Haram Ki Dardi Talash Hai. It's on youtube listen to the tune but the lryics are different.
@TheVeekay the tune of Na Buttkade ki Talab Mujhe was a Qawwali composed by Ustad Fateh Ali Khan, his father. He didn't like audio recordings so there is only one album of his ever produced and that was made by Radio Pakistan, it does have this tune including the ending 'yeh hai ishq ishq'.
My father Pandit Shiv Dayal Batish is the singer that is singing the part of the person to the left of the main singer Qawal. He is wearing the white topi. Namashkar, Ashwin Batish
Thank you. It was my father's birthday on 14th December. We celebrated with a three hour broadcast of his old movie songs and his latest releases on Batish Records. Our online TV and Radio station Ragmala Broadcasting. Ashwin Batish
@surendrabatish I bought tabla music from your shop few years ago, spoke to you on phone, its around when your great father passed away. What a coincidence reading your mail here and seeing your father. Amazing history your family.I'm in UK
u are fuckin insane.....lata doesn't screach idiot.....u remind me of people who to show off...try to project themselves as different from others...without any knowledge of proper things.....
@stuer3500 The tunes used in the barsat ki raat were in fact copied from Ustad Fateh Ali Khan, who was nusrats father. this song "na to caravan ki talash" was copied from ustad fateh ali khans "na butkade ki talab"
This qawwali climaxes in the second part, where Rafi (Bharat Bhushan) comes into the picture and one also gets the glimpses of the incomparable Madhu Bala.
Amazing Rafi, Manna, Asha, SD Batish, Sudha Malhotra, all are inimitable and unparallelled.

SD Batish, wow..what a singer! So many super songs in the 1950s:)
But again, this is the perfect qawwali, nothing beats this, from before or since.
Also, does any one have the Fateh Ali Khan one to share? I have the Nusrat one, that's very good also...

Sahir was an atheist but deeply spiritual. Because of his this great attitude he was able to write this great piece lyric.
