@thatwhichisgiven What's worse is that I would still watch it because I'm like a huge John Green fan and a nerdfighter. So there would be no skipping it, even if I don't want to watch it.
According to Wikapedia data "constructed" his daughter. Does that count as reproduction? Juliana Soong couldn't have children so Data and his 5+ siblings were created. Does that make Juliana capable of reproduction? Is construction the same as reproduction? Food for thought.
i found the vlogbrothers almost 2 years ago now while i was trying to do a project on The Great Gatsby and i was running out of ideas and things to go off of but John you saved my life!!!!!! :)
Can i just say, when you said that we are your biggest inspiration, i almost teared up. I think that is the first time a person that i am a fan of said that their "fans" were their biggest inspiration, and meant it whole heartedly. Unless you are going on a promotional tour soon, then you are a great liar ;)
So I went to type in the pizza shirt address, but put /awesome. I thought it was a bit silly, then I realized Pizza John shirts are full of aweosome and win.
Wish my English teacher taught that way. Having to figure out what the heck a writer means in blah book at blah point just... annoys me. However, thinking about why what the author is saying is important and how we could use that in our own lives... sounds more appealing to me.
Vegetable: an edible plant or part of a plant other than a sweet fruit or seed. This typically means the leaf, stem, or root of a plant.
Cigarette: a small roll of finely cut tobacco leaves wrapped in a cylinder of thin paper for smoking.

It wasn't until i reached the checkout desk that i realized i was reading all of the blurbing book club books, at the same time. Thank you for subliminally influencing my library picks this week :D
You are SO right! My thoughts exactly: Apply reading to your life. That may sound nerdy, but we are nerdfighteria. If it has to be classic AMERICAN literature, I say Looking For Alaska. Otherwise, Hunchback of Notre Dame, 1984, or Don Quixote.

@parejj not particularly. That is, I read it as an American -- but I come from a totally different part of America (and from a different time) and am unfamiliar with most of the place names -- but I had no problem with it. It was about a set of fictional characters, for the most part, and didn't engage much with the wider world of then-current events. (That being said, I, personally, thought the book utterly dull and dreary. But then, I like happy stories.)
I'm so in love with that book. My class was doing it in English this past January, and I ATE IT FOR BREAKFAST for about a month. Whenever my sister and I took breaks from studying for midterms, we would bake brownies and get into heated discussions about what a crazy bitch Daisy was and how Nick and Jordan were such BAMFs.
My love for you and Hank just grows stronger with every video. <3
I can't wait to see what nerdfighteria has to say about this book!
I just wrote a class test where we had to retell the fireworks prank in Looking for Alaska from Lara's point of view, then we had to "speculate why John Green chose Miles as the narrator". Suddenly I noticed that you actually remind me of my (great) English-teacher. :D
@capperann: I just saw your reply and don't know how to tag you back: basically, that teacher was the worst I've ever had; we didn't get any of the critical thinking or explanations of the slang or understanding of what was going on (my teacher would sit at the back of the room and watch us read). I was also in class that shouldn't have been a university prep class because all we ever did was presentations and not everyone had to do all of them. So I basically associate everything to that.
Hooray - I'll read it - just read chapter 1 in eBook form ~ 26/193 13% of the book ^__^ I've never really read any great USA literature~ will be exciting ~ Some words I didn't know: privy - in the know of something secret feigned - made up story or excuse (feigned sleep to get off class) epigram - witicism, witty saying/poem (neat/concice) supercilious - disdain, contempt (super, sillious) libel - (lie-bl) - defemating publishment intimation (to give) - give an indication of something
woah! John, I feel so proud to watch these kind of videos like at the end - about the critical appreciation jazz about authors, and then say eff yeah I'm a nerdfighter!
I answered a questionaire today and it asked whether i had a role model and i also know this sounds cheesy but you john, are my role model. In your videos and in your vlogging you have changed my life and inspired me to accept myself for who i am and...well...i want to be you when i grow up....well i still want to be female. But yeah other than that, you :) thanks DFTBA
I really like that the Nerdfighter Blurbing Book Club is back :) Every summer my mom tries to ship me out of the house as soon as she can for as long as she can. She kind of hates the thought of a three month break of the living hell that is middle school. But having 2 weeks to read a book will make the book one of my prorities and spending time on the Nerdfighters Blurbing Book Club will be a good alternative to living hell number 2... Summer camp.
I've already read The Great Gatsby....... you know, I loved that book. I loved it so much so that I didn't really notice how sad it was until months after I finished it. XD

THANK YOU for choosing the Great Gatsby!

By the way, I got an A. You're my hero :D
