  • Reading all the comments on depth of Squats. I read some say you activate diff muscles going below parallel, some say look at the weight used...etc. Here's something to consider, did you hear him say his knee hurt at the end? Reasons this could have happened...SHEAR STRESS on knee joints for NOT going below parallel. It is actually harder on your knees not going BELOW parallel. Plus the knee wraps don't allow his tendons/ligaments to function properly and get stronger. Squat/Leg press DEEP

  • his hamstrings are so big, he couldn't go any lower! stop bitching about the dudes form!

  • Full squats and half squats train different muscles. With half squats the emphasis is on the quads, in full squats you're activating the glutes and hamstrings a lot more. These guys are also doing a lot of heavy deadlifts and other glute and hamstring exercises so there is no need to be straining those muscles on a quad day.

  • whos to say that full squats are better? he just won the arnold classic and hes does partial range. Sounds like evidence to the contrary to me. Has it even been proven that full range is better? or is that just some antiquated "rule of thumb" with no real proof?

  • @BrokenSporadic its good to workout at 14, dont kill yourself with it, dont get all amped up over pre workouts and protien powders that promise resaults. Im 19 and in afghanistan right now and in my off time i lift. Even at my age its hard to put on muscle. Once you reach 25 or so it gets alot easier for your body to do so. just stay fit. play sports or something, be a linebacker. id wait untill at least 18 to start really going for it. But dont let anyone stop you from what you wanna do bud.

  • He's ALMOST squatting parallel. His knees are making a 100 degree angle with his legs, so it's almost there. Ultimately, though, it doesn't really matter because he isn't training to squat competetively. He's training to build his body and this form works for him. I find those that criticise him to most likely be the skinny little personal training types that treat weight lifting like yoga.

  • There's a massive difference in the form necessary for muscle damage, and the form needed for an "official lift" of some kind... Obviously he is training his legs properly look at them.

  • @TheGutlessOctoroon Difference between BodyBuilding and Powerlifting. Time under tension is key. There is no ONE way to perform an exercise, we work from the template and find which tecnique our body responds to best.

  • @MrRicey80 yup,evryone starts with the same template,3-5 exercises,3-5 sets and rep range of 8-15 for bodybuilding,but when you get over 230 lbs in bodyweight your training will start to creep into the HeavyDuty or HighIntensity training style of DorianYates or MikeMentzer. 2-3 exercises,2-3 sets,8-12 reps.Its all about recovery when you weigh over 230lbs and are muscular,If this guy in the video did less sets and lil higher intensity (more weight) his legs would get bigger.

    his butt is almost parallel to the floor which is good, enough to build muscle or work the muscle, any lower puts so much strain on lower back and works more hips but like steroid4champions said, his legs are huge so it doesnt look that deep when its gtg
