woohoo got to give props for my sister razan ahmed the un press officer who made it all happen, just not too sure about some of the statements the journalist was saying, i can only say this for khartoum because i havent been anywhere else, but khartoum is actually quite developed by comparison, water is very easily accessible by the bottle and its cheap, roads, sanitation, schooling, it's all doing quite well, don't get me wrong the place is no utopia but it's not unbearable to live in either.

How do you know how they were being looked at? You weren't there. You're inserting your pre-conceived notions into a situation that you weren't present at. I've traveled all over Afghanistan and I can tell you that 99% of the kids are very friendly and curious, but once in while you definitely get a look of hatred.

What do you think the purpose of a primary and higher education is? To learn to count to ten? Sure, but it is also to expand your mind and growth. One book, no matter how good, can do all that.

COMPLETELY UNTRUE. Sudan has hundreds of NGO's as well as all the UN factions. There is 1 international school, 1 British, 1 American, 1 French, 1 Diplomatic. There are thousands of white people and lots of other africans as well as chinese/philipino's. Not everyone wear jalabiya.

I don't see why all the sudanese people are getting worked up. Do you actually live in Sudan? Because all the people i meet have a good view on religion and the differences between west/east. They don't impose, and they respect that westerners are allowed to have their own perceptions of Islam

Brotha, I am A Orthodox Christian from Eritrea in East Africa. Eritrea is 50 Christian and 50 Muslim. I live in Sudan and know the people. I am very disappointed because you got it wrong. This people welcomed you to show you who they are and the best thing you can say is they are the next terrorist. The Old man is doing that because as far as he is concern all they need is to know ALAH. Don't generalise there are good and bad in every religion, race, country etc.

Umm, I know it's a habit of most people who don't live in these circumstances to go there with pre-concieved notions and that let's face it the Westerners glorify in pidgeon-holing any and everything but seriously, I'm quite sure a smile is universal and signifies openess and friendliness not hatred. All I saw in those children's eyes was openess and curiousity. Not every moslem is a terrorist eh? Chill. Enough with the heightened paranoia.
