ay caballero, yo quisiera regresar a cuba por un tiempesito aunque sea, todo eso tambien lo llevo en mi corazon, aunque yo tenga poco memoria de ella. un buen saludo pa todos, de una cubana
Also some are mixed with Chinese but I dont know about Tainos though. The Arawaks indians were Native people in Cuba, but most were killed off early by colonists.
@gekeda Native Americans from the USA immigrated in significant numbers to the Republic of Cuba and Taino descendants are in Cuba are rare! Most people in Cuba have Spanish, Canarian, and various African roots and some have Chinese! The indigenous descent populations in Cuba are rare if any and barely anyone descends from the indirectly!
@gekeda Tainos and Ciboneys are an Arawakan indigenous peoples of virtually all the Caribbean islands and South American nations. Caribs are also another group of indigenous peoples in the Caribbean islands! The indigenous peoples of Cuba were called Ciboneys! Most were killed off! Only few Cubans have any indigenous ancestry!
@gekeda The Guanahatabey and Ciboney peoples were among the original hunter-gatherer societies to inhabit Cuba by about 4000 bc, the former living in the extreme west of the island and the latter mainly on the cays to the south, with limited numbers in other places.
@gekeda The Taino (Arawakan Indians) arrived later, probably about ad 500, and spread throughout Cuba, the rest of the Greater Antilles, and the Bahamas. They developed rudimentary agriculture and pottery and established villages that were unevenly distributed but mainly concentrated in the western part of the island.
@gekeda By the time of the Spanish conquest, the Taino constituted nine-tenths of Cuba’s inhabitants. Estimates of the total indigenous population at the beginning of the 16th century vary widely and range as high as 600,000; however, the most likely total was about 75,000.
@gekeda By the 1550s only some 3,000 scattered individuals remained, their communities having been wiped out by European diseases, severe treatment and unhealthy working conditions (particularly in the Spanish gold mines), starvation resulting from low agricultural productivity, and suicides.
@gekeda Diverse ethnic groups have been settling in Cuba since the time of European contact—including Spaniards and Africans and smaller groups of Chinese, Jews, and Yucatecan Indians (from the Yucatán Peninsula in Mexico)—who have created a heterogeneous society by superimposing their cultural and social characteristics on those of earlier settlers.
"Life And Energy"---I should have been Cuban. Finally got what I am missing in the USA...Need to get out of here. This video made the truth come out.... I need life and energy more than anything! so much soul in the rumba...Makes every little hair on my body stand up...
Sure those kids are happier because they play outside with other kids and get dirty as kids should...They are not growing to be sociopaths growing up on computers, separated from other kids, with minimal physical contact in controlled and sterile environments.
Sorry spazzacake, you're wrong. I saw NO abject poverty during my stay in Cuba, with Cubanos and not in tourist places. I saw very little ordinary poverty, in fact there is more equality in Cuba than any other place I've visited, except perhaps, the Pacific Islands. The poverty you saw, was your perception of it, and this and their meagre opportunities are caused by the Gov of USA. Viva la Vida en Cuba !!
there is real poverty in Cuba but not disease, hunger, crime and illiteracy as in other 3rd world countries. USA is to blame to some extent but Cubas own restrictions also hurt the country.
@kanakaken I don't know what parts of Cuba you saw but most of my fam is there and poverty is real in Cuba. they don't have shit and they are always in need. Havana is falling apart for Christ sake buildings collapse and people live in fear of that thank god the quake did not strike closer to Cuba the same thing that happened to Haiti would have happen to them
mambomambo1 We stayed in Havana 3 nights Varadero 1 night Santa Clara 3 nights and the rest of the time in Santiago de Cuba, Boca de Dos Rios, Pilon and Manzanillo. After Varadero we stayed only 1 night in an hotel the rest of the time was in private homes. I don't judge people's wealth by what I have or how much disposable money I have I judge it by how the whole community is living. I saw NO ONE living on the streets like there are here in OZ and NO beggars also & no one was starving for food
mambomambo1, I DID see some anomalies like Cubans with money paying to stay at hotels on holiday I can't comment on them because I didn't speak with them all I know is they payed 23 times less than me to stay. The worst place in our travels was Havana it was the only place that had a hint of danger about it. That's because there are too many people living there. The biggest fear of most Cubans I met was of spies within their communities who might inform on them for some minor infraction.
@mambomambo1 Wow! Havana is falling apart? That is a damn shame! You would think that with Havana being the capital it would be better off and top notch!
@chsn09 thats because I took most these pictures in the old Havana where most the poorer people live. Other areas are nicer and the tourist areas are great but thats not really an excuse I guess
@gekeda Oh cool, but yeah usually the historic areas or old areas are supposed to still be preserved better and excellently! Yeah that means that if they are having the tourist and other areas nicer it makes you wonder if the government really cares about their own people! SMFH! That is typical of most places, they cater nice to the tourist when they could be using that same effort with their own people! "To each his own"! But you are right! That is NOT an excuse! Are you Cuban or from Cuba?
@chsn09 un slave se habla mucho crapos! hey bro how many booty have you pop tonight ? my African Whore wife coochie is too smelly ! i am getting me a hoochie mama tonight
You cant compare the poverty in Cuba to US. Try the comparing them to rest of Latin America. Cuba would probably be like Jamaica or Haiti without the revolution or the Favelas in Brazil. But I agree most kids future is uncertain.
