  • cute presentation. love it!

  • To be honest... I really, REALLY hate video tutorial. Can you (Google geeks, which I happen to consider the nicest Geeky cooperation on the world) just simply WRITE THE STEP-BY STEP INSTRUCTION DOWN IN A SIMPLE PAGE. Save both of us some time!!!

  • @Punax Most people are visually and auditory oriented and the videos are very helpful.

  • but this vid was posted less than a year ago......

  • what the hell? google has 3d model programming now? o_)0

  • They had it since 2000 ...

  • yes yes ive been told several times now <_<

  • The Get Nearby Models feature is all but useless until more non-commercial models are uploaded. For instance - most of San Francisco exists in 3D on Google Earth but you can only "Get" a very small handful of models. I applaud the functionality but it will be a while before it works the way it should.

  • this is a great vid. i now have sketchup!

btw you sound like Kermit the frog lol

    anyways really helpful - thanks

  • @crubba It is Kermit's voice - some people need more than two jobs these days! (=

  • Glad there are more photo realism features. Would be nice if Google One day made it automatic.

  • If I get Sketchup 7.1 will I be able to use the License code in Sketchup 7.0 ?

  • GREAT work with "Get photo texture". That's what I had been doing manually, It's going to be so nice not to have to create a folder full of street view screen captures! This will speed up the content creation work flow pipeline. I'll probably get some new buildings done in 10 or 15 minutes now.

  • great vid man!! love the way its edited...upload model...up it goes.........:))))) beautiful

  • how do u do number 1????? im having trouble with it can someone explain me it

  • You have to have a geo-located terrain tile, you are building on. (I'm guessing)

So open Google Earth and get a nice overhead view of the building you want to model. Then open SketchUp and click the GE icon "Get Current View" up in your toolbar.

Now build a building, and when you right click a face you see the new context menu option to "Get photo Texture" from Street View. Woo hoo!

  • well i right clicked made a building but nothing happened all it said at the bottom said Make Texture and i did the street view thing

  • #1 is going to help so much!

  • is this aidan??

  • Yes!

  • Pretty sweet :D

  • perfect, now make the streetview thing available in the free version, please? :)

  • Good news! Street View imagery is available in both the free and Pro versions of SketchUp.

  • Like the upload component feature. :-)

  • collada > dxf :)

  • yep cause you can use Collada in GTA! Someone still needs to do that mashup! Monster milk truck was ok, but really a city needs to be built in GTA MapEditor

  • OMG,... good features,... dwg/dxf importer exporter is gone,... NICE THINKING OF THE PRO USERS GOOGLE! WELL DONE!

    BRING @Last TEAM BACK!

Man this request has been since the first Google Skecthup release.

  • I REMEMBER dwg/dxf! I wanted that to make Google Earth Models into a format a game engine could use.

  • What exciting new features!

Taking textures directly from streetview is perfect.

I hope streetview release for Germany comes soon.

Nearby Models is also a fantastic feature! It's exactly what i was looking vor.

    Great job!

  • Grab on streetview. Perfect.
