They are about a fight between John Nolan and Jesse Lacey in which John Nolan reportedly slept with Jesse's girl. Jesse was in TBS at the time (early days) and becuase of Nolans indiscretion we have Brand New now. Watch John in some of the live performances. It's obvious that its very personal. I have heard that since then both John and Jesse remain good best friend like they were growing up.

when TBS VERY first came out, Jesse Lacey (brand new vox) was the front man for TBS and TBS's guitarist, Eddie Reyes wrote a song together, but Lacey quit before the song was ever finished. Lacey was replaced with John Nolan who was later replaced with Fred Mascherino. Lacey went on to the Rookie Lot & then later Brand New. & both bands used the old lyrics of the song to write new ones. thus coming out with "Theres no I in Team" & "Seventy Times Seven."

Jesse Lacey(singer brand new) use to actually sing lead in tbs, way back before they released anything. Him and John Nolan were best friends, but John fucked Jesse's gf, ruining the friendship. Jesse left to create brand new,and Adam was moved from Bassist to lead singer, and the old tbs was created.
