Neither fighter would allow the other fighter to fall into 'survive' mode. Both fighters styles forced the other fghter to go for the knockout the entire fight or risk being knockout out while getting beat up in survivor mode. This was a great fight a war and fight of the year by the espn sports syndicate. Both fighters surprised me by the stamina and will to win shown round after roound. As a fight fan I appreciated watching ths fight...now if Flloyd and Manny can just get in the ring....

This was a great fight. Not quite as good as Corrales vs. Castillo IMHO, but a great fight regardless. Akira just had way superior hand speed, despite getting buckled by several of Pornsawan's punches. At the end of the 4th, Akira almost reminded me of a young Roy Jones Jr., up against the ropes with his hands down. Great stuff.

I agree with most that this was the fight of the year in 2011. The japanese fighter should have won earlier and easily with better hand speed, punching power, and boxing technique he should have ended this fight around the 5th through 7th round. Still im glad he dicided to make it a slugfest. Pornsawan is like a lot of thai fighters,,,the very definition of rugged. I like it how the referee just decided to take the night off, at least he wasnt too baised.

Great performance rounds 7-8 were epic as far as the competitive nature between the two fighters.. Akira pretty much said fuck defense around the 6 round.. otherwise this fight wouldnt have appeared to be as compelling as it was.. Porn had that one shining moment when he hit buckled Akira but ..i think Akira made the fight "Greater" than it had to be when he stopped moving his head
