An F1 car can accelerate from 0 to 160kph & back to 0 in 4 seconds! Veyron what? It's not even a competition, how can they be mentioned in the same sentence. Try reading then commenting ppl.
veyron went round the Top Gear track in about 1:16, the 2005 renault f1 car did it in 59 seconds, 17 seconds faster per lap on a short race track, ppl thinking the veyron is faster are dilusional.

People don't understand f1 cars are for motorsport, not practicability - stop moaning about cup holders and it not being road legal... It was built for speed, veyron was built for speed but not as well as an f1 car for reasons like: headlamps have to be a certain height, nose has to be able to get over speed bumps and you need 2 seats....

The f1 car is made of carbon fibre and would kill a bugatti anyday, just look at the nurburgring times..... I expect a few minutes lead from the f1 car, even a formula 3 car could beat the bugatti. Thanks to good old fashioned DOWN FORCE. They can take bends at speeds any other car would have ended up in the hedge doing half that speed. Light weight and powerful engines are a plus too, and also very good brakes that can stop even faster thanks to the down force. On a long straight road a bugatti veyron/ultimate aero or other really fast car would eventually catch it up and crawl past it, but on a windy road nothing can beat a formula 1.
@bikeracerguy thats because nascar drivers and there teams dont spend millions of dollars on there car to go that fast an indy car weighs roughly 1,600 pounds with 800 horsepower+ traction control and every other high tech thing you can jam in one of those cars costing around 7 million dollars for the car, not for upkeep and entry fees. a stock car "nascar" weighs 3,400 pounds with 800 horspower, power to weight ratio in these cars is no comparison. and costs under a third of the price to build

Yes ford did this as well. Stewart f1, Ford Focus rally car and focus road car. Also Honda did it in 1990 with a Civic, Porsche and Mclaren honda f1 driven my senna.
The sound of that F1 engine is simply awesome, especially as Coulthard overtakes the opposition in the final corner. As a friend of mine once said as we watched the Spanish GP at the track; "it's an assault on the senses" !

I would like to have seen these manufactures use their top vehicle in racing f1 car. Even Ferrari used a fast car unlike Mercedes with the junk of boat. They should have used amg 63 or the black series. That would generate interest in those vehicles. They should fire their marketing team ASAP.

It would have been quick but no way could it have won. The Veyron would have to average such a high speed to win. If it was a straight line race the Veyron could win if it got past 220mph or so when the F1 car tops out.

You're right. Also, don't forget that as you said, the setup affects the top speed. So an F1 car set up for top speed would do more than the Veyron I guess, and still with better acceleration.

Thing is, if the f1 was set to have no downforce it would easily smash 400 km/h, however with what, a 400 kg dry weight? the driver would be looking for his death bed to try to handle a chassis that light at a speed that high......
Veyron faster than a F1? maybe in a straight line. On a track, the veyron would get smoked by the F1. Not many cars can do a lap around the Nurburgring in under 6 minutes, I assure you an F1 can. Besides, a Corvette ZR1 is even faster around a track than a Veyron, and the ZR1 has around 400 less HP.

The veyron is one of the best sports cars of all. Acceleration 1,2g, braking and curving up tu 1,5g with high speed (drag and force of air helps). A F1 car accelerates not that much faster, only 1,5g. But it turns and brakes up to 6g, which is very close to the physiolocical limit of the drivers, particularly during 2 hour long races.
Thats THE difference, a F1 car corners full throttle, while even a veyron has to break hard and creep the curve slowly
lol dickhead the veyron goes 0-60 in 2.4 seconds and from what i remember it wasn't naturally aspirated. The F1 is N/A and only a V8 it is built for speed it reaches 0-60 in 1.6 seconds thats almost a second difference. And to reach 200 km/h it turns out there is a 2.5 second difference if i remeber correctly.
Cornering also comes into it so realistically the lap time for a F1 would be about 25 seconds faster.

Probably wouldn't have even one. When those slicks run cold they do horribly wouldve taken atleast a couple turns at less than maximun G to warm them up enough.

Richard Hammond, one of the Top Gear hosts, tried his hand at driving a F1 car in one of the newer episodes (I think a week or two ago). He failed very, very hard.
I can't even imagine how impossible these cars are to drive.

when you lose downforce in f1 you become airborne instantly an f1 without downforce wont work,a veyron would have nothing maybe rob hadfields 3000hp chev or that english guy with 2200hp vauxhall 0-60mph in 1 second both road registered.fastest road registered car i think it is called here on tube

It would have been quick but no way could it have won. The Veyron would have to average such a high speed to win. If it was a straight line race the Veyron could win if it got past 220mph or so when the F1 car tops out.

some dums says veyron strait faster than F1 is base on the 400km/h figure but F1 seldom above 340km/h, but do anyone knows how fast a F1 goes from 0-300?
and if a veyron had a downforce like F1 i think it will never touch the top speed of F1. it is too stupid to compare veyron need 1.30min to reach 400km/h and a F1 goes 300km/h in 13sec

You're right. Also, don't forget that as you said, the setup affects the top speed. So an F1 car set up for top speed would do more than the Veyron I guess, and still with better acceleration.

It would, only if it didn't have the 3 and a half tonnes of downforce that the rear wing generates.
Thing is, if the f1 was set to have no downforce it would easily smash 400 km/h, however with what, a 400 kg dry weight? the driver would be looking for his death bed to try to handle a chassis that light at a speed that high......

Veyron faster than a F1? maybe in a straight line. On a track, the veyron would get smoked by the F1. Not many cars can do a lap around the Nurburgring in under 6 minutes, I assure you an F1 can. Besides, a Corvette ZR1 is even faster around a track than a Veyron, and the ZR1 has around 400 less HP.

i agree with the F1 car would beat any car around the track fair enough some cars would keep up with it in a striaght line but an F1 car would struggle around the nurburgring as the cars are set up so stiff the bumps would either throw the car off a just break it i mean if u dont understand just look at the brazil GP with the bumps not very much but they are at the limit a F1 car can take

The veyron is one of the best sports cars of all. Acceleration 1,2g, braking and curving up tu 1,5g with high speed (drag and force of air helps). A F1 car accelerates not that much faster, only 1,5g. But it turns and brakes up to 6g, which is very close to the physiolocical limit of the drivers, particularly during 2 hour long races.
Thats THE difference, a F1 car corners full throttle, while even a veyron has to break hard and creep the curve slowly

lol dickhead the veyron goes 0-60 in 2.4 seconds and from what i remember it wasn't naturally aspirated. The F1 is N/A and only a V8 it is built for speed it reaches 0-60 in 1.6 seconds thats almost a second difference. And to reach 200 km/h it turns out there is a 2.5 second difference if i remeber correctly.
Cornering also comes into it so realistically the lap time for a F1 would be about 25 seconds faster.

i say they showuld try again but a f1 car vs a bugati veyron, slr mclaren a lamborghini murcielagi lp640 and we will see....by the way a f1 care has only oane chair the veyron has 2, 12 airbags, aer condition music and other staff.that is what it makes it so special and it reaches 407km/h a f1 car dose not reach 380km/h. faster then an f1 car + more confort

LMAO! Lame to think a production car, any production car fer that matter, can beat a Formula machine. 0-100-0 in under 7 seconds guy. Less weight, plus racing tires, and these cars are limited. They could be way more powerful than they are now.

A 911 Turbo could get a faster track time then a Veyron, fact is if you buy one your gonna need a runway to get it up to full speed, a F1 car will do it on a main straight. People who buy a Veyron really have no idea about cars.

You need a runway for the Veyron to crack 400, it hasn't done it on any race track. Plus it'd take 3 times as long to get there as a F1. Even a Porsche 911 Turbo laps faster then the Veyron and its a 5th the price.

Why dont you quote me on a veyron that can pull 2.5 G's in the turns. You cant compare an F-1 to anything else in the world, be it supercars, nascar or anything else. They are the fastest vehicles in the world around a track. If your comparing a F-1 to a veyron based on acceleration its like comparing a veyron to a top fuel dragster. Theres no comparison, but one can turn and the other cant. Its the same with a F-1 and Veyron. F-1 will go 110 though a 30mph turn.
