The ring thing has to do with your faith or background....I think catholics wear it on the right and prtestants on the left or vice versa...well, that's the case in The Netherlands anyways. I don't think it's still that 'strict'...I used to have it on my left hand, sometimes ring finger, sometimes middle finger...I am still married, just lost the ring :( I don't have a religious background....
