You can probably find silver sold for less than the current spot price, in the form of jewelry, on ebay and at garage sales. I think gold is a poor investment compared to silver right now, because a lot of it has been going towards jewelry-making in India, but their demand has dropped significantly lately due to worsening economic conditions.
