  • Does anybody know why they created this song????????

  • @haolesteve111 WHY??? Not sure. Dont you like it?

  • @estyle40 Love this song and can relate!!!!!

  • @haolesteve111 Gotcha.........

  • @haolesteve111 Created..? it was a long time ago when people understood the song you poor thing

  • @rogerthedodger55 LMAO..........spot-on correct!!! Compared to what we got now??? No f`n contest!!

  • @rogerthedodger55 I'm not a poor man, I just happen to know they did they due to stories they heard from Vets returning from Viet Nam....

  • @haolesteve111 It is about Vietnam combat veterans. They are singing about how we were afraid to fall asleep...running from the sandman. Not that we slept much there anyway. I will admit that I was afraid of being killed when I did sleep a little. As a former boxer, I still want to go down fighting. Just thankful to be a survivor. Nam '72

  • @Charma34 Thank you, I'm glad someone knows why. I didn't go to Nam because sole surviving son and my dad was there.

  • @Charma34 Awesome Story, And a Beautiful Song.

  • Sandman's Theme song Spider Man 3

  • @spartandude45 dude i was just watching SpiderMan3 on veetle and saw Sandman, which made me come here to listen to this song hahaah

  • a vrey cool song from Amrica

  • :D

  • AINT THE YEARS GONE BY FAST..

  • Okay. So let me see if I've got this right. ABBA and Madonna are in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. AMERICA is not. Can somebody please explain this to me?

  • @mrrmd1967 Fucking politics and the record companies that are still standing...If Microsoft billionaire Paul Allen doesn't have you on his meet and greet bucketlist, your ass is not going to get in to the fame...

  • @mrrmd1967 actually ABBA is deserving but Madonna was a hugh self made phenonom.she still can be in there.America was maybe a little to artisy to be Rock..i think we should be considering the idea that maybe (W/O the RR hall of fame)we wouldn't have a tribute to R&R at all

  • @nomiclas While I respect your right to your opinion, I must say I had to read your post twice to make sure I read it right the first time. While ABBA was a very successful and upbeat musical band, they were in no way R & R. As far as Madonna is concerned, if you believe as you said,"can still be in there", while America is too "artisy", let me assure you there are countless Doctors schooled for years who are standing by and ready to help you through your musical abyss. .

  • @mrrmd1967 i don't know if i can afford the amount of money(medical) it would take to fix my addiction to certain groups.Madonna is definately not at the list.i didn't like the Superbowl Bullshit except for Ce Lo.Abba has always been a fav of mine.I'm an old school/old time rocker.i've had the privelege to see Chuck Berry with the Bee Gee's in concert.there's another admissiin you can bash me with.i have a ton of Bee Gee's LP's.i've saw Rick Nelson,Chubby Checker and some lesser rock acts.con't-

  • @mrrmd1967 Sister Golden Hair is about as rockin' as America gets.i do however have this LP as well as 5 more of theirs.the reason some groups are not in the R&R hall of fame could be politics but if you went there they focus on a lot of R&B and lately have hugh group based displays to attract fans and generate operating capitol.life unfortunatly is a business.it's worth the visit.while your in the "A" catagory, check out "Ambrosia",great group, way underrated and about the same as "America"

  • @mrrmd1967 I have no issues with Madonna or ABBA, I just don't feel they are R&R. Their disco period aside ,the BeeGees were an excellent band and do belong in the hall. My sister was in love with them as well as their younger brother, Andy, and were in fact my first concert. Saw them at the Spectrum in Philly a long long time ago.

  • @mrrmd1967 My daughter's list: What's this with ABBA? NO FRIGGIN' WAY! No comparison! Apples and Kiwi! Sorry, but BLEAH! as Snoopy would say!

  • you did it again chissykim ---I agree with earthshone,,,the bass line --oh boy ! talkin' bout musical treats--my 1st time checkin' this one out . Good Deal

  • Just a wonderful gift chissykim, thank you for this and your other uploads of America. This is easily my favourite song of modern recorded music. It's so strange in every way. But it has this amazing sadness and freedom all at once. Love, Glaeken

  • Thanks for the post. I heard the song played over the base PA at Hahn AB in Germany one snowy night and it was quite powerful. I need to post on my timeline.

  • chissy you know what I want to say. You #$%^&*( rock!

  • Thank you ...I am an original fan of this band...I bought the LP right when "Horse with no Name" hit as a single..I love Neil Young and this band was supposed to be the band with a Neil sound...I bought all their LPs new as they hit...Love on record and they still put on a pretty good show...
