-I dont quite believe the louree bow style was achieved just right, it's a little too detached and not quite...smoothly connected if that makes sense?
-2nd violins at A...:S
-softer dynamics could be less, however the louder dynamics were great! But that is the problem with larger groups, you reallly need to learn to adjust.
-I find the rall.'s to be a little untasteful...just a bit too slow.
Overall a very nice performance. However I do have some constructive criticism. I have been playing since I was five for about 12 years now, and my orchestra is playing this piece.
Mvmt 1:
-Great opening chords.
-there's some funky intonation in the inner voices throughout C&D
-There definitely IS rushing starting at G and even more at H.
-Then slows doen too much later on.
-Vivace is more of an "a tempo" due to an exaggerated allargando.
very excellent pieces. But we were required to have mutes for the 2nd movement. in my opinion I like the lullaby effect it gives a little better than what was played. I thought they played them well.
HAHAHA omg nice "cheating" of the basses at 3:11, lol! but don't worry, i'm a double bassist in ACS(I) orchestra, we are playing rutter for FOA this year, and to be honest with you people, EVERYONE CHEATS THAT PART :P it's like almost impossible to play la.
okay... so i've been concert master of my orchestra since my freshman year... and i've been playing since i was about 5. AND my pet peeve is when people try to pick out details that are nonexistant. for example.. they did not rush... they just took it at the tempo rutter intended. and whoever said "they were a little bit off" are terribly ignorant. they performed it very well. so dont try to make your selfs sound superior.
@jugglesmk11 There is most certainly a difference between ignorance and constructive criticism. There is always room to improve, and there are many many interpretations of music. That is what makes music different to each person. However, each person, of course, likes to express their opinion on how to improve. Denying that is like saying you yourself are superior. So please, don't take things so critically and accept their opinions are being helpful, not bashing, no matter the tone.
In the 1st movement there were several intonation problems...and you definently rushed at the end of this movement...
Something weird happenend in the beginning of the 2nd movement...I don't think you were together...every time you get into the higher octaves (a string and above) it sounds really bad. Something sounded bad in the cello section too. Rhythms are good though...
Overall intonation was really bad and you rushed...no offense...but you did a good job...keep up the good work!
sounds good... my school's orchestra is going to play this for an upcoming concert, but overall this seems a bit rushed compared to us and other orchestras... nice job though
Personally I really prefer a slower tempo, at the very least in the more lyrical passages.

Awfully fast, it's supposed to be a sea shanty, I don't it's supposed to be played as fast as you can. But technically nice.
