  • Until I stumbled across TvOtR I didn't realize that there were still bands out there that could write beautifully esoteric lyrics & couple them with poignant, textural music. Just beautiful ...

  • fear of death

  • gOOvy diggin kool

  • @1SamYabes Watch the episode of Entourage they use this song in. They were awesome with using the right song at the right time, but that was probably the best use of a song in a tv show. ever.

  • I don't understand the studio versions of Tv On The Radio songs. They all sound about a million times better live...

  • @jazzavantgarde

I suppose you are possibly right as I never saw them live. But I personally think this sounds better than the original

  • @bigtoepfer Never saw them live too, but you have this videos all over youtube with performances on Letterman and others and their tunes make a huge improvement with the actual band live.

  • R.I.P

  • i love this song but when im high this song takes me to a whole other level. the first time i heard this song while high i actually almost cried.

  • @UnderagedStoner You must have been FUCKED up lmao

  • @UnderagedStoner Odd.. Considering this song is about intercourse.

  • @commentableuser It's not, it's about dying, and the similarities between feelings of the last moments of life and the feelings during boning.

  • @UnderagedStoner i did cry.

  • @UnderagedStoner cool story bro

  • These guys are genius.

  • I always pictured them as long haired white guys. And on a completely different note they're amazing.

  • Everybody should listen to the Young Liars version. It's essentially the same song, but there's a slightly different intro. It's really short, ten seconds or so, but it makes the baseline sound so much more awesome.

  • @mahonmic agreed

  • This song makes me feel hight

  • i needed to hear this today.

  • Comment removed

  • @hollywoodhennelly stop using that worn out joke/comment, please be original for a change

  • @flatronl1915SLG Hm. 2.8% of raters are haters.

    ...better?

  • I would kill myself for not finding this band earlier. But I wont, in the shake of listening to them.

  • Indeed they have a great approach of the essence of music. They mastered how to make people feel like they are in an other dimension. This songs feels like you are diving slowly further and further to the depths of what we could call the Everything

  • @mahonmic truer words have never been spoken on a youtube forum :P

  • I heard this back in like '03, where the fuck were you guys. ^ ^

  • @AlanAyazyam bein ignorant

  • goooooood stuff!!!! :)

  • oh I forgot I used to like this song and kinda this band

  • another pop video using the same effect yawn

  • @aveffects what effect is that?

  • @aveffects pop videos took their effects from bands like these to play the "original" card dont get confused.

  • this is ten times better than the live version lol

  • This is by far my favorite song.

  • Heard this song from Entourage!

  • SO GOOD!

  • who gives a shit isn't about the music man

  • to rabbitintheheadlight, um ya and most people do judging by the ratings i got

  • ...cool:)...

  • i just got my heart ripped out. I am staring at the sun on repeat for the next few days.

  • @TeamZissou88 how'd that turn out? its been a year now.

  • @TeamZissou88 How are you doing now?

  • @TeamZissou88 Yep me too. 2 years ago man.

  • so good

    nice

  • i want the lyrics

  • \m/ in my opinion is the best song by TVOTR!

  • this song is amazing, but wana hear it so its twice as good---simple solution.......get high

  • so you think that fact is positive?

  • Its from Desperate Youth, Blood Thirsty Babes.

    Track 2

  • Simply can't stop listening. Love it.

  • Such an awesome song. These guys are incredible live too!

  • is it just me or does he sound like sound garden in this song?

  • new TV on the Radio fansite and forum - tvontheradio co uk

  • awesome*.*

  • what album is this from??? Comment me on my page other wise I will miss the reply!!?

  • these guys on on

  • For a while at the beginning it almost sounds like the bass synth is off time or something. But then once he starts singing it doesn't sound that way. But I'll be damned if the intro isn't awesome.

  • what a cool vid

  • Cant wait to see theese bad boys

  • Strange song... but i like it ;)

  • just love that song and the video.

  • I love this song :]

  • nooo, this band is amazing, you suuuckk!!!

  • this band kicks a hell of a lot of ass. great band with great songs. i hope u take a tour and come to Oklahoma City so i could see you guys live. u kick ass

  • random info burst #34

Why dont you research Frank Miller and his connections to Robocop?

  • Dude this group is amazing

  • this band have changed things for me,especially the way i look at music.

  • i don't consder myself a TVOTR fan-- in fact, i think that they are pretty overrated-- but i do love this song and "halfway home," and a few others. yes, the members of TVOTR are great musicians. but i just can't get into the band, and i honestly don't see what makes them so great. to each her own, i suppose.

  • dont you mean HIS own?

  • uh, no, i typed "to each her own" for a reason, thanks.

    and don't you mean "don't"?

  • Don't you mean "I"?

  • Bands you might like if you like TVOTR: Gang Gang Dance, Dragons of Zynth, Massive Attack, Osibisia, Build an Ark, Sa-Ra, Celebration, Bauhaus, Material, Pavement, the Party of Helicopters, Breakwater, Liars, Excepter, daniel givens, kayo dot, crystal antlers, saul williams, Benga, Stereotyp, Dalek, Thevious Beck, Octavious, Shape Shifters, Free Moral Agents, Warrior Queen, Telepathe, Four Tet, Sunburned Hand of the Man, Emeralds, Girlz of Zeatar, Sonny Sharrock, Art Ensemble of Chicago, Sun Ra

  • best rock band period!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • Definitely top 5. the new album's a disappointment, but it's not going to hurt them in the long run

  • lawl this is so cool

dance gavin dance sings the chorus from here when they do rock solid live instead of the part where the two guys talk like on the cd

when i saw them do it i was anticipating the conversation but the singer just broke out this chorus and it fit pretty well

  • yeah im really starting to get into this band. i loved dear science, so i checked out their two other releases but i only got one (return to cookie mountain).. its great too.

  • This is absolutely beautiful. I started listening to them not too long ago and I'm already in love.

  • interesting

  • Besides, music is an art, subjective to opinion, and the fact that you want to argue about peoples' musical opinions just reveals that you have missed the entire point of music.

  • To all those who are claiming that a band must be instrumental virtuosos to be "good"...

Music is more than playing an instrument. Shred and Metal can be considered some of the most technically challenging genres of music out there. I, however find it incredibly boring. It is linear, and uninventive. This band was able to write a piece of music with great atmosphere, and depth, and that connects with people on an emotional level. I find this far more important than technical mastery.

  • couldnt have said it better myself

  • yea you tell em

  • Exactly, there's several virtuosos. I mean, you can find several hundred of them on youtube, but they're not doing anything artistically groundbreaking. Not to take away from them, I mean, technical skill IS a laudable quality, but there's a difference between being a great artist and a great musician. They don't always have to be one in the same.

  • what about 'family tree', 'dancing choose', 'love dog'? - that's three great songs on one album (at least). I agree they've got too many 'clever' songs that you don't really get much of a buzz from listening to, and you couldn't recognizably cover without just copying the original, but I'm sure they've got some great songs in there

  • @mahonmic beautfully stated

  • @mahonmic Dude, i'm seriously going to quote you on a bunch of community-pages now, couldn't have said it better, i doubt alot of people can. :P

  • @mahonmic Amen. *cue youtube religious debate because I said amen*

  • @mahonmic

finally someone who knows how to recognize ''good'' music... thanks :)

  • @mahonmic i agree completely. i found this band recently and im now obsessed with the music. just great jam out music yknow? and im VERY happy to see an african american group that isnt R&B or rap and they are damn good!

  • @mahonmic Amen

  • @mahonmic But some people need to be inspired by technical mastery to appreciate what they are listening to. Just saying tho, my own opinion is that I think minimalism is a technical difficulty as well.

  • @mahonmic you are quite right on most of that except for saying metal is boring, you obviously listen to shitty metal then, but any genre i cant handle for a long time i always keep listening to differet styles cuz to me any genre can be shitty when listening to it for too long

  • @mahonmic true, but keep in mind that taste in music is a matter of opinion, you can't argue that one band is better then another of a completely different genre, it's like a health-freak saying granola bars are better then cake to a fat ass who loves his cake... he's obviously going to disagree loll

  • @LongRangeGunna

    perfect analogy lol

  • i love this song

  • The girl in the video looks a little like Laura Palmer (Sheryl Lee)
