@jrhm94 It is in the eurovision rules that all singers must sing live on the stage. So there can't be any backing singers back stage. I remember watching it on TV (Graham Nortan, the UK commentator, accused them of Lip-synching so I watched closely to see if it was the case and I'm certain that it wasn't). The backing singer might not be good at dancing so they couldn't fit her into the dance routine (only a guess so don't quote me on that).

Her voice is waaay different. Lucia was kept back because she a backing singer and her only purpose was to give vocal harmony not to stay in the spotlight.

And yes, we are proud of Elena because she is a gifted singer. But she had a dreadful song that year, that's my only complaint.
