I'm proud of her and I suspect when the music programs were taken out of Urban schools during the Ronald Reagan years,it was to dis encourage young black folks like her by those who control the status quo. Physical education too. Lack of money,I don't believe it! It can be printed at will by the federal reserve. All by design as far as I can deduce. I'm glad she made it to this level. Jujusweet33 I'm totally envious of you! You saw her at Yoshi's and I missed that engagement. I hope she comes to my side of the bay (Yoshi's San Francisco). All joking aside, the more I listen to her the more impressed I am with her skills. She brings an interesting and fresh, new rythmic sensibility to old standards (check out "Body and Soul"). I saw her in concert this past Thursday at Yoshi's in Oakland a small intimate supper club and she was so amazing..No one could take their eyes off of her. We gave her a standing ovation. The sound of her voice mixed with the bass is unbelievable...when she comes to your town...PLEASE go see her...you won't be disappointed.
