  • The actor playing Chaing is Ron Yuan and he was born in New York.

  • Its dubbed scrubs

  • she's not speaking chinese, she's lip synching. her lips don't correlate with the words.

  • @MrBikercat its the video itself because if u notice even the long haired guy's lips are not synchronized

  • @MrBikercat it's not that difficult to see that it's just the audio in this clip that's lagging. the woman speaks mandarin, among other languages, in real life. google vanessa branch.

  • @MrBikercat None of the words are in synch with the lips because the clip is fucked up. Vanessa IS highly fluent in both French and Chinese. I went to school with her at Mercersburg. I know.

  • is this video from movie?i dont think so.

  • The long hair guy is probably a Taiwanese-American

  • The Chinese girl is Tooshi from Taxi 3 !!

  • thats not even her

  • @ninetwentyone Your proof? It's her, dumbass. Google her - she's fluent in Chinese...

  • trust me, that man is not chinese, he is what ever he is

  • I love Venessa. I'm mesmerized by her beautiful hair.

  • I speak cantonese far better than I speak Mandarin. He have a more cantonese like tone.

  • @MingTheMerciful to me he sounds really choppy, and the way he pronounce the english word makes him sound he is not as fluent in chinese but more or so fluent in english

  • people from hong kong who is born speaking cantonese will also speak mandarin like that.

  • I am an ABC the chinese dude's mandarin is about the same as mine

  • y'all realize this is looping right?

  • the chinese guy's mandarin sucks =[

  • that would be dubbed.

  • He looks like wilber pan... sounds a bit like him too... and yar.... ABC.

  • Her Chinese sounded more impressive to me before I actually started learning Chinese :P but we shouldn't insult someone who has learned a language. Anyone who learns languages like Mandarin Chinese, Russian and Arabic get my kudos :) she is an actress not an ambassador, so it doesn't really matter.

  • Bai Lin and Long Hair Dude are freaks, Where the f is Russell Wong and Kelly Hu??

  • how did she learn mandarin? :D

  • both the asain and blonde speak broken chinese at best

  • @udlock9 but the blonde's better than the twinkie's

  • So was she really speaking Chinese Mandarin, or was she dubbed? Because the audio and video does not match, so I am not sure whether the whole thing was dubbed, lol(z) ;p :)) !!!

  • What a smart blonde she is

  • fuck china

  • @mjutsu2

You are an idiot. Oh, and fuck you and your mother.

  • @DifangDuana

i fuck your monkey mother and your sister i fuck your whole family

tsi hau so chi na kaszai mutesd

so that you chinese bitch can unerstand what i said

  • @mjutsu2 i thought u were against racism?

  • wtf a blonde can speak diff language? thats something new

  • The guy has an American accent. It's not a Taiwanese or Hong Kong accent. I mean, it's obvious that his family is Chinese, and probably from Taiwan, but he's definitely American.

  • the orbitz girl, she is awesome

  • @Oceandeep8

she has a "straight" accent present in many american speakers, while the asian looking guy either an ABC, or ppl from HK or Taiwan.

  • this was dubbed in..... ABC did it for her

  • She is hot.

  • Now American and European can speak Mandarin Chinese well now.

  • the long hair guy 's chinese is not so standard.and i think vb can understand so many difficult chinese.she is excellent. but she needs improving her tone in chinese .

  • Oh come on, people! It's not that bad. This is an American show. I'm just surprised and happy to hear recognizable mandarin! It doesn't matter if it's not spoken comfortably; at least the accents are right!

  • the blonde isnt that great either

  • 길이 무한도전이랑 두탕뛰는 가보군...?

    blonde speakin' mandarin'z hwat

  • her chinese isn't that good.

  • wooo, Even that Chinese guy's accent is so wired, because When a person's native language is English, he or she will pronounce Chinese like that, then why speak Chinese.

  • his accent isn't an american accent, it's the accent of a cantonese person speaking mandarin

  • @CodenameLan Really? I have heard so many cantonese friends who speak Mandarin, but this guy's accent is so different and wired.

  • sorry, i meant taiwanese.

there are a lot of taiwanese exchange students at the university that I live near by, and that's what some of the sound like. if he had an american accent, his chinese would be a lot less fluent, and a little more strained... he mumbles from time to time, but it's not unintelligible mumbling which means he's proficient enough to mumble fluently... does that make sense?

  • Nice Swordsman and Tsui Hark reference.

  • Its not dubbed, the video and audio are simply off sync.

  • Fabulous, No matter what.

  • Those drinks on the table look like energy drinks!!

  • great chinese

  • To be honest, her Mandarin is better than the creepy long hair guy's

  • @askfskpsk Yah agreed

  • @askfskpsk no it's not. He is definitely not a native chinese speaker though.

  • actually a professional interpreter should interpret directly what a person says rather than using 'he said'.

  • Vanessa branch(world famous hollywood movie actress ) can speak

Mandarin fluently.very good. Congratulation. Hollywood movie directors , movie actors and actress learn mandarin chinese now because they target china movie market . Chinese mandarin is #2 world spoken language now.

  • its actually number one with almost half the worlds population speakin it

  • this dubbing is soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo shit! lol

  • its fucking dubbed. duh

  • round table of the douchebags

  • The Chinese guy is not a native speaker, his accent sounds like he learned Chinese in highschool

  • Agreed

  • The Chinese guys Chinese is not that good. He is probably ABC.

  • vanessa's chinese is better than the chinese dude

  • @thisismyytname

ta shi yiting meiguo de hua ren.

  • @thisismyytname His mandarin isnt that good hes prob canto

  • @thisismyytname He speaks chinese with Shanghai accent. which means he is not an ABC. Mandarin is based on the dialect spoken mainly in northern China. People from eastern and southern China have an entirly different dialect. Miss Branch however did a great job speaking mandarin except a few words.

  • i was waiting for bai ling to recite one of her poems

  • just to re-iterate everyone... there is a delay in the audio and yes, Vanessa Branch is fluent in Mandarin

  • Her Chinese sucks big time. But interestingly enough, the Chinese dude's Chinese also sucks...

  • It's not dubbed you fucking morons. She speaks Mandarin in more than just one movie.

  • dubbed!

  • Sounds like she's speaking Mandarin.

  • yes its mandarin that she speaking.

  • Actually there's a few seconds delay in the audio, if it were dubbed everyone else would be speaking on time with the audio. Anyway, it states in her bio she's fluent in Mandarin and French.

  • Weaver16- Are you sure she's the orbitz lady?

  • Watch their lips, it is dubbed audio.

  • it's just that the video isn't in sync. it says in her imdb that she speaks Mandarin Chinese fluently.

  • The guy's chinese is unbelievably CRAP. He speaks like some chinese dude who grew up in the states with a basic conversational proficiency level in mandarin. He's speaking in groups of words like he's speaking from memorised text.

  • Yup yup and she is so dubbed

  • No it's not dubbed. The audio in this video is out of sync.

  • its U.S tv show dont expect too much.

  • This is movie, in words, fake.

  • she's the Orbit lady.

  • Oops I meant he HAS bad chinese lol typo

  • The guy is bad chinese lol

  • What?! That's an insult to both Taiwanese and Singaporean Chinese. :P I don't think Taiwanese or Singaporean Mandarin are in any way inferior. They may be distinctive, but no more so than the infamous Beijing 兒.

The guy's accent is not "regional," it is just clearly non-native. Period.

  • Powerful women are unbelievably sexy - and they don't have to look as good as this actress - but what the hell - I also wish to have her babies now - she's so smart you just need a few Mandarin expressions - like "wo gen zhe nin, ye shun cong nin - nin zong shuo de hen dui - lao ban."

  • shes not 'powerful'...she 'knowledgable'...theres a difference

  • Congratulations on overlooking the one of the most basic facts about today's world, that knowledge is power - but in overlooking this reality, you've explained how you could consider she isn't powerful.

  • ds..i speak 3 languages..... that does not make me 'powerful' maybe she appears 'powerful' to you and thats a sexual issue with you i think not a factual one. the ability to speak a diferent language does not make anyone more'powerful' she has no 'power' only the ability to speak different languages. while it has been written that knowledge is power, her 'ability' to speak foriegn tounges does not grant any'power' upon her. lets see. looks like YOU need SOME knowledge of your own..LOL

  • well it depends on how you use your knowledge of speaking three languages i suppose!

  • ds...you are also confusing knowledge and wisdom...the knowledge word used in 'knowledge is power' has its origins in proverbs 24;5 ""A wise man has great power, and a man of knowledge increases strength." knkowing a language doesnt give you knowledge , and lifting wieghts can give you strength as well...use yer hed ! dungh!

  • DUBBED

  • I want her babies! :D

  • The Asian guy spoke Mandarin in a funny way.

  • Seriously... everyone's talking about Branch's accent, but the Chinese guy's accent suggests he isn't a native speaker either. I think that's Ron Yuan? If so, then I think he was born in the States.

  • no. it's the taiwanese way of speaking chinese. it may seem different for mainlanders.

  • I work with a number of Taiwanese Mandarin speakers and they don't sound anything like this. This guy is too deliberate with his enunciation and tones, not to mention his "shi" sounds seem too strong compared to the characteristic Taiwanese pronunciation.

I suppose I could be wrong, but the way he speaks reminds me of George Takei speaking Japanese on Heroes. Hiro is a native/near-native speaker but his dad is probably reading off a script.

  • I can't find much on Ron Yuan, but everything I find indicates he was born and raised in New York. He's a heritage speaker, maybe, but definitely NOT native. He sounds good enough that most people can't tell the difference, as demonstrated here. I interact with Mandarin speakers at work from various places in the mainland and Taiwan, and there is definitely a non-native accent coming from this guy.

  • Accent of native mandarin speakers can be vary too depending on what region they come from. Sound for me it is more like taiwan accent, overall the pronunciation are all correct so this suggest he is a native mandarin speaker.

  • Woah her chinese is good. =D

  • fake fuck u all

    respect

  • she makes a good soviet in red alert 3

  • OMG, she speak authentic chinese, she must have learned it when she was young

  • Dub?

  • 你对了

  • how come the black guy is speaking mandarin? hahaahaha

  • That's not a black guy....

  • Comment removed

  • Its sinchrosnised!!

  • roflmao!!! i noticed the Tsui Hark reference.

  • Love love entourage, can't wait to get more of their dvd

  • why isnt the chinese chick translating.

  • wht the hell!!! how come ??? first time see....

  • I would so hit her.

  • The damn asian speak chinese as a second language..

  • It is so cool to speak the Chinese language.

  • It is so cool to speak the English language.

  • It is so cool to speak the chinese and english language.

  • not cool. It is FKING HYPE. China is LOVED and HATED by the most people in the world.

There is no middle ground. You either LOVE China or you HATE China.

China is the most misunderstood country in the world.

  • Cheer, I'm just saying the language, nothing to do with country. I speaks mandarin but it doesn't indicate i love or hate china. Hope this make some sense to you. And lastly i do believe there is middle ground btw love and hate.... and trust me, dont simplify things to solely one extreme.

  • leave ma country alone ya lil monkehh

  • that is just horrid..

  • Where's the "dirty mouth" part?

  • when did she learn mandaerin???

  • I read that Branch is fluent in Mandarin....and it shows. No accent. Just smooth speaking. You go girl!

  • There is a fucking obvious accent actually. She can speak enough to be understood though, so kudos to her.

  • Excuse me if English speakers have an accent because we don't natively understand the difference between nĭ and ní

  • Well, I'm not attacking her for having an accent -- everybody has an accent. She would have no problem conversing with a native speaker; she would be easily understood. So that is quite impressive.

I've seen non-native speakers (who've learnt the language in adulthood) speak tone-perfect Chinese -- they speak it even better than I do, and I'm a native speaker, it's a marvel to listen to because it's really very hard to learn unaccented speech if you didn't acquire it in childhood.

  • She speaks it fluently but she does have a bit of an accent. Nothing wrong with having an accent, makes the world more interesting.

  • bai ling scares the living shit out of me.

  • Yeah she does look scary...but for some reason I'd still give it to her really hard.

  • Well......What ever rocks your boat I guess. :/

  • damn, that's a turn on for asian guys. white chick speaking an asian language, i like that!

  • 4 tones Vanessa, 4 tones? an you please return the 4 tones to me Vanessa?

  • that Chinese girl is so ugly! I have never seen this kind of ugly Chinese girl.

  • i think that's bi sex lololol

  • is "really" fluent in mandarin... ?

  • I didn't expect that! She speaks perfect mandarin

  • wow

  • i think is a hongkong accent...no wonder, grow up in china, than YOU can speak chinese:) thats it!

  • That's the chick from the Orbit gum commercials!

    Fabulous!

  • Venessa Branch is great, but the schmuck with the curly hair on the right is smug looking LA Trash.

But Bai Ling is in it (at least I think it is) and she's really cool.

  • all i know is shes poundable

  • GOOD BUT FAR FROM FLAWLESS

  • That's really impressive.

  • Is she actually speaking Mandarin, or is that someone playing her role that's speaking there? It sounds like she's lip-syncing.

  • its because the audio and video doesn't match, the audio is a little bit slower

  • She has learnt chinese, checkout some videos on youtube, where she is in videos that teach mandarin.

  • Yes...She really does speak Chinese Mandarin.

  • tWhat? What are the videos called?

  • yeah and i speak french and her french is virtually flawless

  • i speak chinese, and let me tell you, she almost have no accent, thats pretty impressive.

  • SHE SPEAKS LIKE A HONG KONG PERSON

  • AND THE MAN IS FROM HONG KONG FOR SURE
