I think you have it backwards actually. WWI was only won by the allies after the US interviened. WWII was going disasterously for the UK before the US got involved (France, Norway, Greece, Singapore, Hong Kong, Africa). The US is the main reason the Japanese were defeated in WWII. Western Europe was liberated mainly thanks to US intervention. I really dont understand how ungrateful Western Europeans are. Without the US you would be a living in a communist sesspool right now.

For WWI it was kind hard to say we picked sides. We were selling munitions to both sides of the conflict and, as soon as the British began their blockaid, we could not sell to the Germans and could only sell to the Allies.  So from a German point of view our support for the allies would lead them to believe that we were in the Allied favor. Thus, they took actions to harm us and brought us into the war on the allies side. WWI was actually going in Germanys favor before the US entered.

If the US was never thrust into the war by the Japanese and Germans declaring war on us then Britain wouldve probably had to except peace on German terms (i dont think the Germans couldve successfully invaded Britain). The Germans probably wouldve still have been defeated by the Soviets and Europe wouldve become a Communist state. 17 million Americans served in WWII while 11 million British (including commonwealth) served. I would guess 2/3 of US forces served in Europe.

In ww1 yes the americans did help, but the germans Schlieffen plan completely failed by 1917 and they where mostly on the defensive. America entering the war was the final nail in the coffin.
