I hate this movie. I hate it so much. Why can't we touch the stars, ride through the lights and the beauty, reach the endless space, and grasp it in our hands.
Same with Wall-E, I wish I could touch the stars with nothing but a fire extinguisher.
12. (I keep coming back to this video, don't I?) The script and voice acting was amazing - Joseph-Gorden Levitt, Brian Murray, David Hyde Pierce and Emma Thompson all did a terrific job - they made their characters sound convincing
@00ammy00 I TOTALLY AGREE!!! Could not have said it better myself!! I was going to pick my favorite reasons (that this film is the best one EVER) from the ones you gave,,, but then I realized that they were ALL my favorites!! XD
I hate the fact that most critics dumped this movie when it came out... Let them boast, I loved it then and still do at my twenties! Dr. Doppler and BEN ftw! XD
treasure planet was the first disney movie i ever saw it got me onto disney due to the fact it talks about someones dreams and how instead of it magically coming true he worked for it
Well, I suppose some of you know that Treasure Planet is an adaptation of a novel called treasure Island !! That's why the scenario is damn good !!!!!! ^^"
This has GOT to be my FAVORITE Disney movie of all time, along with the Lion King. Treasure Planet is awesome!!! People who haven't seen it don't know what they're missing.
I would KILL to play this song in my next orchestra concert. If the orchestra and the band teamed up, I can't even imagin how wonderful it would sound. We'd be able to accomplish sound track music. Sometimes I wish orchestra/band teachers would pick fun songs to play. As in fun, I mean songs of our childhoods, songs we grew up with. You should see my face playing the little mermaid for violin. Now THIS is music. Screw the classics, this is what makes concerts intense.
I love princesses, predictable romances, and fun Alan Menken songs just as much as anyone, but Treasure Planet has more adventure than most Disney movies.
I'm very glad they never made a sequel, because knowing Disney sequels they'd most likely give him a girlfriend, who would be the cliche`d just too perfect to exist kind of girl, and it would ruin the original for us hardcore fans of it. The movie was amazing, and doesn't get nearly enough credit.
I know ppl pay most attention to the solar surfer part of this track, but seriously, every single time I watch this movie it's the very beginning that gets me. You get this scene with an endless, beautifully animated stretch of stars and purple clouds and then the title fades in, and with the music from 0:00 to 0:54, plus the sounds of the solar whales you can hear in the background, it's just...ah. It's just breathtaking. I'd switch worlds with Jim if only to get a view like that
@00ammy00 I listen to this song for the beginning especially. I love it so much. And with these earbuds I have, you hear the thunder like bass in the background during the phrase that starts at 0:34. It's amazing. And I have dreams about worlds like this. This is one Disney movie that I applaud most strongly. =)
For some reason, the second half of this song keeps giving me deja vu. I've heard it somewhere before, somewhere other than in this movie, and it's driving me up the wall. I almost want to say there was something similar in the Turn-A Gundam soundtrack, which aired about a year before TP was released.
If anyone has any thoughts, please, let me know before my brain explodes.
@ThraceVega Interesting Factoid James Newton Howard utilized the same Melody for his works in Dinosaur and Atlantis. Check out those themes and you'll hear it.
@CrystalStarlight95 What do you mean, when it first came out? How about now?! The kid's appearance just screams, "LOOK AT ME I AM ESTROGEN BRIGADE BAIT!"
...However, I should probably move along now that I am 22 years old. XD
@CrystalStarlight95 He WAS the reason I went to see it xD I remember watching it over and over just for his cuteness... now I watch it over and over, not only for that, but for the story and it's charm :3

In my opinion, I think that Treasure Planet is one of Disney's greatest films. I don't consider it a masterpiece like Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King and The Hunchback of Notre Dame (don't kill me! just my opinion ^^), but I still think that is very underrated film. It's ironic because I disliked this movie when little, now I just love it.
And I think the movie was fine how it ended and don't need a sequel. Sequels tend to decline both in animation and story in comparison to the original.
Reasons why Treasure Planet is the best Disney movie ever: 1.The characters don't sing randomly 2.Jim is the first Disney teenager who acts like a teenager 3.Silver is not a cliche badguy. Heck, he's not even a complete bad guy.. 4.The music; they combine rock and orchestra 5.NO PRINCESSES. 6.And no predictable romances 7.Morph 8.Killer scenes, especially with the solar surfer 9.Wonderful animation 10.It just plain rocks
@00ammy00 I'm fading Disney for 16 years and I know a lot of things on it! All Disney movies are not necessarily as a princess and heroine there is indeed a love story in Treasure Planet and s'avoir also requires that most Disney films are adaptations of works, so if Disney wants to produce Cinderella, you should see that Cinderella is a princess! Logic! We will not put a princess in Treasure Planet, so there are not any in the novel even if Disney always agrees fantasies!
@00ammy00 yeah, no predictable romances so douches like *cough* dolphy * and *cough**cough*DF01 step in and create douchie little fan romances for babies. fuck those fags
I love how Disney combined a classic adventure story with Sci-Fi and created an entirely new look and feel to it. This is a true Disney classic in my book. :))))
@vampyr12sweetie no need to buy it, just use Zamzar.com to convert it to mp3 format straight from the vid on youtube! its fast and free and no risk of virises. it really is to good to be true and yet there it is!
@thewoodsman45 Correction; it IS the last Great Disney Movie. Home on the Range and The Princess and the Frog totally sucked. If Disney isn't going to get their act back together they should just shut down and stop ruining their reputation. Remember all those sequels? Ugh!
@00ammy00 True this is a great film that everyone should watch but toy story 3 is a great disney movie and that came out recently. Disney can make great films but they need a good story line first. Disney is a huge company with thousands of people working there, all those people need to work together to make a great movie which means they need to love the movie too. That kind of teamwork can't happen on every movie.
@chrno269 Note: Toy Story 3 was Pixar, which while owned by Disney, is still a separate entity. Everything they've done has been at LEAST good, if not spectacular.
The sad truth about Disney is that they lost their mojo. Now, Princess and the Frog was actually pretty darn good, so I hope they're getting their old spark back, but it's hard to tell, and it will take time.
@Dracontiar True and maybe Disney's rep is falling but the new film Tron looks quite cool and that is by Disney. Enchanted was a great film by disney so disney can do it they just need a little push sometimes.
@chrno269 I LOVED toy story 3. but toy story 3 is pixar, and all of pixar's movies rocked. I'm talking about disney separated from pixar, as in mostly their non-computer-animated movies.
I couldn't really imagine a sequel. I mean the movie was ended, idk what the 2nd part would be. This was such an amazing movie, my 3rd fave movie of alllll timmmee <3 Idk why it was a flop, people needed to appreciate its greatness more. I cant believe it didnt do well in the box office, it was so perfect.
@AbstractDolphin Well, honestly the reason it didn't was because of the critics saying that the movie was too mature and too many scary themes for children, which I didn't understand because I saw this movie when I was like 5 and the scary themes weren't that scary to me. And I find it kinda weird that ALMOST all of the GOOD disney movies were rated lowly and the terrible ones nowadays are rated so professionally. The critics should have started thinking outside the box and made a sequel for it.
@AbstractDolphin the second movie i can emagine jim being captain of a navy ship and sent on a mission to hunt down silver and end up in an aventure with silver
@AbstractDolphin i dunno maybe a couple years later when jim got a family and all that stuff maybe silver comes back with a map about another treasure planet or sumthing, would be epic as hell in 3D i think.
@AbstractDolphin If they did do a sequel, it'd be cool if he went out and found his dad who's maybe like in trouble and needs rescuing from some great evil...thing! And he finally talks to his dad about why he left and we can get some closer...:)
@AbstractDolphin Teasure Planet flopped because it was released when it was up against the newly popular CGI market and people were losing interest in 2d films. I wish disney would understand just because their movies don't do well in theaters doesn't mean its a bad movie they just released it at the wrong time.
@nintendo4ever123 But... Charlie Chaplin is awesome. D: Altho I agree, people back then were pretty closed-minded about this stuff, especially the critics -_- BUT TREASURE PLANET WAS FCKING AMAZING they should have not said otherwise. XD
@AbstractDolphin it was released at the wrong time, it wasn't advertised to the audience that would find it most enjoyable, people doubted the CGI-traditional animation mixing technique, etc.
Awesome theme, Tresure planet is a real under-rated movie in the disney pantheon. My thoughts on a sequel...NO. Considering Disneys track record with sequels I think they should leave T.P as it is
A Treasure Planet sequel would definitely be interesting. The only problem is that Disney isn't exactly known for their spectacular writing when it comes to sequels. Maybe if they could write a story that was good enough. Still, that's only a maybe. Frankly, I think the movie's too good on its own; but personally, I'd love to see more of John Silver. I loved his character in all adaptations of the original book, as well as the book itself. It's probably my fav.
@SilverSonic202 Or, sometimes (rarely) they'll make a sequel's story just as good as the original but the art and characters will be... well.. LAME when compared to the original. : /
@abbyfanduby yah, remember Atlantis 2? Just ruins the first one. The animation art actually got lamer, and it became more childish. The first one was awesome, but the 2nd one is a disgrace
there is a 100% chance there will not be a sequel. the movie made over 30 million less than it cost to make (140 million). to disney, making this movie was a big mistake. they are not going to make another one.
plus the movie was based on the book treasure island, which didn;t have a sequel. to make one they would have to come up with a whole new story instead of have something already to work with.

I'm not sure about Treasure Planet being a sequel to something, but as far as I know there is no sequel to Treasure Planet. All the fans just muse on the idea of one, but like EmptyBrooke said, Disney are not to creative and smart when it comes to sequels (the only one I didn't gag at was Lion King 2 (1/2 I hated)).
Besides, with Treasure Planet being as awesome as it is, can you really imagine a good sequel?
I personally think that if Disney started treating their audience (however young) like they had a spec of intellect, they could pull themselves out of the gutter. More serious moments, less pointless characters (such as Rhino, in 'Bolt') that ruin the feeling of the movie... ect.
I remember Beauty and the Beast was one of my favorite movies when I was young, and still is, simply because the story and characters were so compelling.
@gng0fan soo true my favorite one was/is the little mermaid just the meaning of the storie its beautiful but now Bold and tho other movies are nothing compair to the old times
"YAAAAAH-HEEEYA!" I happily shout that when I hear this.

This movie is too underrated. Why, I don't know; I think it was because it took alot of money to make and didn't earn enough in return.
00ammy00 1 year ago
@00ammy00 No, it was overshadowed by Dreamworks's Sinbad The Legend of the Seven Seas. They had the same premise with pirating/ships

This is one of the last great disney movies.
thewoodsman45 1 year ago
@thewoodsman45 Correction; it IS the last Great Disney Movie. Home on the Range and The Princess and the Frog totally sucked. If Disney isn't going to get their act back together they should just shut down and stop ruining their reputation. Remember all those sequels? Ugh!
00ammy00 1 year ago 3
@00ammy00 True this is a great film that everyone should watch but toy story 3 is a great disney movie and that came out recently. Disney can make great films but they need a good story line first. Disney is a huge company with thousands of people working there, all those people need to work together to make a great movie which means they need to love the movie too. That kind of teamwork can't happen on every movie.
chrno269 1 year ago
@chrno269 Note: Toy Story 3 was Pixar, which while owned by Disney, is still a separate entity. Everything they've done has been at LEAST good, if not spectacular.
The sad truth about Disney is that they lost their mojo. Now, Princess and the Frog was actually pretty darn good, so I hope they're getting their old spark back, but it's hard to tell, and it will take time.
Dracontiar 1 year ago
@Dracontiar True and maybe Disney's rep is falling but the new film Tron looks quite cool and that is by Disney. Enchanted was a great film by disney so disney can do it they just need a little push sometimes.
chrno269 1 year ago
@chrno269 I LOVED toy story 3. but toy story 3 is pixar, and all of pixar's movies rocked. I'm talking about disney separated from pixar, as in mostly their non-computer-animated movies.
00ammy00 1 year ago
@00ammy00 Yes i forgot that Toy Story was by pixar, but I still think disney has it in them to pull something great out of the hat.

AbstractDolphin 1 year ago 49
@AbstractDolphin i know! i love this movie!!!=) this is one of the movies that i cant get tired of watching=)
narniaHP4ever 1 year ago
@AbstractDolphin Well, honestly the reason it didn't was because of the critics saying that the movie was too mature and too many scary themes for children, which I didn't understand because I saw this movie when I was like 5 and the scary themes weren't that scary to me. And I find it kinda weird that ALMOST all of the GOOD disney movies were rated lowly and the terrible ones nowadays are rated so professionally. The critics should have started thinking outside the box and made a sequel for it.
spyrotamer 1 year ago
@AbstractDolphin the second movie i can emagine jim being captain of a navy ship and sent on a mission to hunt down silver and end up in an aventure with silver

corruptstar1 1 year ago
@AbstractDolphin i dunno maybe a couple years later when jim got a family and all that stuff maybe silver comes back with a map about another treasure planet or sumthing, would be epic as hell in 3D i think.
videocritic2463 9 months ago
@AbstractDolphin If they did do a sequel, it'd be cool if he went out and found his dad who's maybe like in trouble and needs rescuing from some great evil...thing! And he finally talks to his dad about why he left and we can get some closer...:)
domtom010 9 months ago
@AbstractDolphin Teasure Planet flopped because it was released when it was up against the newly popular CGI market and people were losing interest in 2d films. I wish disney would understand just because their movies don't do well in theaters doesn't mean its a bad movie they just released it at the wrong time.
Iheartdolls4ever 9 months ago
@AbstractDolphin boxx office is a bunch of old time geezers who would like charlie chaplin over this! >:l
nintendo4ever123 8 months ago
@nintendo4ever123 But... Charlie Chaplin is awesome. D: Altho I agree, people back then were pretty closed-minded about this stuff, especially the critics -_- BUT TREASURE PLANET WAS FCKING AMAZING they should have not said otherwise. XD
mibt11 7 months ago
@AbstractDolphin it was released at the wrong time, it wasn't advertised to the audience that would find it most enjoyable, people doubted the CGI-traditional animation mixing technique, etc.
techneonix 7 months ago
They seriously need to make a live action movie of this
DashingStallion 1 year ago 7

This music's wicked inspiring too
EmptyBrooke 1 year ago 6
@EmptyBrooke
you got that right. Disney makes a good movie (something they didn't do in a while) then they make a sequel, but its not as good as the original
SilverSonic202 1 year ago
@SilverSonic202 Or, sometimes (rarely) they'll make a sequel's story just as good as the original but the art and characters will be... well.. LAME when compared to the original. : /
abbyfanduby 1 year ago
@abbyfanduby yah, remember Atlantis 2? Just ruins the first one. The animation art actually got lamer, and it became more childish. The first one was awesome, but the 2nd one is a disgrace
SilverSonic202 1 year ago
@SilverSonic202 Yeah, all the purpose it really shows is giving more footage of the characters to use for videos here on youtube or somewhere.

This has been flagged as spam show
there is a 100% chance there will not be a sequel. the movie made over 30 million less than it cost to make (140 million). to disney, making this movie was a big mistake. they are not going to make another one.
plus the movie was based on the book treasure island, which didn;t have a sequel. to make one they would have to come up with a whole new story instead of have something already to work with.
your "problem" isn't the only one.
Anthonyk312 1 year ago
It seems like Disney is really trying to bank on sequels on some of their successes but I think this deserves a sequel and if possible a trilogy.

WAT!?
im so confused...help me plz...sumbody?
anybody?
MrsJaziWagner 1 year ago
People think there should be a sequal to Treasure Planet. Treasure Planet is not a sequal itself.
AryaForce 1 year ago
@MrsJaziWagner

Spyro2292 2 years ago 3
I personally think that if Disney started treating their audience (however young) like they had a spec of intellect, they could pull themselves out of the gutter. More serious moments, less pointless characters (such as Rhino, in 'Bolt') that ruin the feeling of the movie... ect.
I remember Beauty and the Beast was one of my favorite movies when I was young, and still is, simply because the story and characters were so compelling.
