Some betta wont tolerate any other fish. Most though are docile to fish who have short fins. Some betta will even tolerate guppies with long flowing tails, but that is kinda rare.
The betta you buy in the pet store are not bred to fight, so the fight is kinda bred out of them with other fish. Sounds like yours is a grumpy man ;)
Just letting you know, that african dwarf frogs love company, they are very social and much more active with a firend. I have 2 in a 6 gallon along with a dwarf gourami.
nah i had a aqua background on my tank and it made a small mirror image in one corner, and he spent all his time flaring his fins in that corner. he shares a tank with 2 ghost shrimp and a snail and he never bothers them.
i tried putting in ghost shrimps with my fishie before but after a week the shrimps are all gone...i think he ate them all..is it really ok to put other fishie with him? nice tank btw!
I had Harlequin Rasboras in with him. They seem to get along just fine. The shrimps are food to him. Make sure you have enough room for everyone. Harlequin Rasboras like to stay in groups of five or more.
very easy, the frog doesn't need much. I feed him frog food, blood worms and flakes. He'll eat on his own but I got him used to eating from my hand(using tweezers).
@blaisemisiek i gave a crowntail with a few rasboras in a 3 gallon and my betta chases them around all the time haha i think it depends on the bettas personality
omg i had my betta.. Jason... I have had him for a year and i had a african drawf with him and they were enimies. THe betta always attacked him when he was little so he got a proper shelter but when he got bigger he would nip at the fish.. ahh it was terrible. They got there seperate cages
The current seems pretty strong for the betta boy. He's just getting pushed around. Any way to reduce that so he isn't stressed/tired by fighting it? Plakats and females do better with currents, but the long fins are like sails in the wind.
An African clawed frogs, (the white ones sold at walmarts) will eat fish though. Only 25% change every few weeks?, but then again, you only have a betta and a frog in there
I have 2 african dwarf frogs in with my beta. I think my tank is too small for all 3 of them so I'm either going to give the froggies to my GF or get a bigger tank
Is that SAND at the bottom of your tank? I prefer sand (sometimes) but it gets so cloudy - fast - with algae. How often do you change it or what filtersa do you use?
you gotta make sure you use Silica sand. I use my girlfriends old stocking to rinse the sand first. As for the filter, it's just a crapy one, doing a 25% water change every few weeks keeps it nice.
nice I used to have a betta with my harlequin rasboras but they ended up being notorius fin nippers so I took my betta out. Hope you have better luck with yours.
wow are those little fish (black white ) in the beginning called ?

Maybe two male bettas could stay together if they was in a 6'2'2' or bigger and had enough space to avoid each other?

yea, you can put 5 females together in a 10 gallon and up
but if you want a male and female together permanently, you need a 50 gallon with lots of hiding places.

The Betta is not interested in fish that don't look like him. These guys look much smaller than they appear in this video.

how big is your tank? I've taken out the rasboras since out, they are in a bigger tank now. Now it's just the betta and a frog.
