this tutorial is shit. you can even clearly tell that the car isn't going to be parked between the lines just by looking at the animation on the video. best way is to angle your car before backing into the spot instead of leaving it perpendicular.
@lespaulguitarist92 WHAT CRAP! this video supports the training given to our learners in the UK. Not sure how you can tell 'the car isn't going to be parked between the lines' as this is an animated guide. I would never teach an angled start to a beginner until a more competent skill level has been archived, as it is harder to judge the correct start position, and therefore harder to complete this maneuver to a sufficient level.
@lespaulguitarist92 This driving instructor is right. It IS how 90% of learners are taught. We are told strictly NEVER to go in angled, but the general public do that. Stop picking up habits from older drivers. I would have appreciated an explanation on WHEN and how much to steer, however.
@2eyre 1 key is to always start in the same position to the bay every time distance away picking a reference point. 2 carry out the manouvre as slow as possible using your clutch control, this should help your all-round observation and spacial awareness, if you are not in the correct position adjust earlier than later. Good luck.
@j2ching jesus christ man that's fucking crazy why haven't I heard of you before?? Have you been in contact with NASA?? You should phone the MOD they need people like you in the sky over Afghanistan, one mission from a man like you could end the war. Are you seriously telling me you came onto a video about bay parking just to tell everyone that you learned to park when you took your uncles car out for a spin when you were 16 and that it was really easy? For fuck sake man thats sad.
@NextSLDNX The song is "Sirius," which is on the album "Eye in the Sky" by the Alan Parsons Project, and was used as Micheal Jordans music intro for the Chiago Bulls, I believe.
if you want a specific bay all you need to do is count 2 lines after the bay you want to park in then reverse till that line is online with your knees then put full left lock on it will work everytime i knows it i grows it
@parkdrivingschool no it doesnt matter what car you drive the reference point stays the same thats what is so good about it try before you buy ive done this in every car i have ever had trust me i am really good
@parkdrivingschool The length of the vehicle an the turning circle will all change the reference (a small car will be different to a large 4WD) and although most parking spaces will be the same size this can vary too a disabled bay or child space and if you drive abroad the US have wider spaces as the average size of car is great
when you learn to park in lessons, there are no cars either side or you (or only 1 side when parallel parking). In reality you nearly always have to park inbetween 2 cars. They should teach you that too as it's hard to do something you've not been taught, especially when you are a new, not that confident driver.
@Scrups RUBBISH you cannot teach every possibility, We teach tools not rules.
If you wanted get into the first space you would need to start at 90 degrees into the second space 45 degrees. When on a lesson various situations/problems will arise and dealt with but how can you expect this to be taught in this basic reap! please reply
@parkdrivingschool As I have said this is a cop out and not real life . This method cannot be used in a small car park with cars either side . Also if you want to park in a space like this and drive past the space you want any driver behind will drive , nose first , into your space . What would you say ? I need to go past my space at least 2 other spaces before reversing back ? You`d look like a fool !
Ive 15 yrs as an A.D.I and im an advanced driving instructor/examiner
@Scrups I totally agree mate, I'm learning to drive right now and it's a classic case of being taught to pass but not to drive, when driving with my dad, the majority of parking areas I come across just don't allow enough time or space to do a manoeuvre like this, my Dad couldn't believe it the other day when I told him I don't know how to park any other way.
@M4DDISON Hey, good joke, that's a real clever one! However, no I'm not, and you should have said 'your' middle name, not 'you middle name', it doesn't make sense (but I'm the numpty?). I don't really get why you replied to my comment, did you not agree with something I said, or are you just looking for an argument..?
@HarrisJamesBen well i wasnt looking for an arguement but it looks like YOUR middle name is bungalow it was obviousley a slip of my spelling finger missing out a "r" dont worry you can have these 2 as spares r r
I am going for my highway test, and have been advised that i will need to reverse park. Every car is different, I will be using the instructors car, which is a Toyota Corolla, does this rule apply? I was taught a similar trick, but i don't remember my side mirror being parallel to the line.
@fra1989 No any reference point will be different in every car you drive and indeed it will be different for a different driver who is will have the seat in a different position. You will need to find the reference for you in your car. on the attempt pick a reference say the mirror if you miss the centre of the bay by 2 feet then adjust you reference by 2 feet, once you have your reference you should find the manoeuvre much more consistent with little adjustment required
@stec6680 These video's is only meant as a recap to what you should have been taught, Where do you think the bad advice is and I can clarify any miss understanding. Always be led by you driving instructor. I look forward to your further comments, It is always disappointing to not get the result you wanted but pick yourself up and rise to the challenge, passing the driving test can be as much as a psychological test rather than just a test of driving ability.
@stec6680 Clearly YOU did it wrong and misinterpreted the information given. You failed because your an idiot; clearly proven when you used the words "fack da you" which is probably the stupidest thing I've ever seen written in a comment today.
@stec6680 u failed coz you couldnt do it...u cant use this to blame ur lack of driving skill!! its only an example of one of the many ways you can learn bay parking idiot!
@AlphaBravoV The DSA Syllabus includes 5 manoeuvres 1 Turn in the road, 2 Left Reverse, 3 Right Reverse, 4 Parallel Park, 5 Bay Park, all of which you should cover as part of your training. On your driving test you are required to do 2 manoeuvres, from either 1 Turn in the road, 2 Reverse around a corner which will always be to the left (unless you turn up in a van) 3 Parking which could be either a parallel park or a bay park. Bay park will only be considered if the centre has its own car park.
@randomjoe333333 Any referance used for a manouvre changes for each car and also each divier here there is also a variable for the gag between bay which might change ie disabled bay allow extra room, but most bay would be simular. What you need to do is estimate a referance if this does not put you into th e middle of the required bay adjust the referance next time until you know your referance for your car
i call this back left and the way i do it is, if you're in a parking lot with parking spaces on both side, go in the middle of the road and align YOUR SHOULDER, like of your body right in the middle(or in my car a little bit past the middle) of the parking spot 2 spots away from the one you want to get in to and the rest do as the video.
The key to all the manoeuvres is speed you can't go too slow unless you're not moving for no reason. So use you clutch control, your main focus on keeping speed down to a minimum, this wiil then give you more time for observation. Good Luck
basically the place you want to park your car in reverse, you should be 3- lines ahead, with your steering wheel at even point of the 3rd line. I'm I right, and this is for an automatic car.
At the point of turn steer towards the bay as you come striaght to the bay steer back from full lock to straight timing of this is important, some adjustment may be required. if it does not work our adjust the reference for next time.
