Hi! I'm teaching in Korea, and Koreans have trouble with 'dip' 'fit' and 'sit'. They pronounce the /i/ very well because it's in their language, so the opposite happens. "Fit" sounds like "feet", and "live" sounds like "leave". Any ideas? Help? I've heard that sound (/I/) is one of the hardest ones in English and is not used in many languages, although the /i/ sound is pretty common and most languages use it.
Hey dave. i love you work. I´m an english teacher and I´m very inspired by what you do here. Thanks for sharing! Plus you´re quite cute in a Fox Mulder sort of way!
Good video. Professor, your work here is very good, and i'm sure that you are helping many people to improve their pronunciation. I'm a brazilian and sometimes i have difficult to speak some words in english, so your classes are helping me a lot
Dave, you are not only a funny actor but also a great teacher. I love your videos and they help me a lot to improve my pronunciation. Why don't you upload more videos about all english sounds including vowels and consonants?
I would like to see videos about the 4vowels sounds (short,Long, Schwa & R-Control) explaining when we have to use each one?
Thank you for make me laugh and share your knowleges with us. We appreciate your job.
reading a speedy gonzalez transcript made me aware of how spanish speakers mispronounce the soft i sound. weel you speedy go out weeth my seester... could you cast some light on the differences between: i DID IT INDEED; get rid of read, the heat hit me, sip is not seep, shit is not sheet and a ship full of sheep. also I noticed the transcripts read :poosycat and not pussycat. could u think of other mistakes a spanish native is likely tp make.
You're referring to the /I/ sound. This is short, quick, and low. You should not "smile" when you make this sound. I will make a video for this, but for now you can watch the Pronunciation Shoutcast 2 video (see my channel) where I talk about the word "tip" containing that sound. Thanks for watching, I appreciate it!
