That's a great prehab/rehab exercise when you don't use any additional resistance. It doesn't strengthen anything when you're already strong. The technique they were using is the "strengthen" way (waste of time for verlander) not prehab. No wonder he gave up so many runs in 2008.
@Cubu47 This is a back workout. Your never to strong in your back to not be able to benefit from a back exercise like this. All you have to do is increase your reps. It's like pushups. Just because you can do a lot doesn't mean they don't benefit you strength-wise.
@Cubu47 And if your doing back in the form of weight lifting, you can increase weight, reps, sets and improve your form. You don't want to do too heavy of weight for back, but improving your form will benefit you the most, because the stronger you are the straighter you can keep your back, which will intensify your workout. For example, if your doing two-arm long bar rows, the further you can bend over, and the straighter you can bend your back(if possible almost arch), the hard the workout.
these excerices are soo effective, weight lifting made my mechanics and muscles memory super slow, which resulted in no speed.
look at all the justin verlander workouts they all involve expolsive movements not slow reps. THANKS STACK BASEBALL!

Should hold the top portion for a second, then take twice as long to go down...this will work the eccentric aspect as well.
