Religios & ethnic separation is undesireable to Chomsky but necessary for the interviewer. That's the subtext here, I think. She aks with horror if Jews should be expected to accept minority status in Israel. Minority status isn't a fear unless a zeitgeist of identity exists. Jews, Aremenians, Tutsis and Serbs have in their recent history suffered horrific slaughters which make them fearful of this. Chomsky understands. Ugh she's like a kid who won't listen to his parent saying he shouldn't have pizza because it's unhealthy and he's overweight, and just screams "WHY DO YOU HATE ME?!?"
Either she doesn't understand what he's saying, or she's just trying to make the viewers not like him, and I don't know which is worse.
Just like the people on Fox News who don't understand how someone can criticize Bush, for the sake of the country. How difficult is it to understand?

@linkon2me MEA regimes today are oppressive. The West is very oppressive too. Western countries hide their dictatorship under the so called terrorism. You have to think the way they want you to think looool. It's funny how countries like Germany oppress those who dare say anything about those they persecuted for years..

The interviewer desperately wants to make it sound like Lebanon is oppressive and her country is liberal. Lebanon may be partly free, but definitely more free than the country that denied entry to the man she's interviewing. She could have claimed her country is very open on another occasion lol.
