  • i get my Dominican blow outs every two months or so, sooner if a special occasion comes up in between, besides the heat and tension , there isnt much wrong with blow outs. Thanks for clearing up the Brazilian treatment i never really knew what it was lol.

  • how about products such as palmer's olive oil formula moisturizing hair milk? It has formaldehyde in it. Will it be harmful to our type of hair as well?

  • Yes, the short term results are great but the long term results are not great (My hair is thinning)! and who knows if anything else will happen bc i did it so many times. I'm honestly scared to find out. It SHOULD NOT be on the market. This is a really good video, thanks for making it. People need to be warned.

  • I've had this done 6x's you're 100 percent right. DO NOT DO IT!

I've had signifcant hairloss, headaches, shooting pains in my ears, irritated eyes, nose, throat and lungs. I'm a healthy 28 yearold (no health problems) and i'm balding. I'M BEGGING U GUYS DONT DO IT.

  • Well, I applaud Canada for banning it, don't wanna hurt their polar bear's hair(jk, love Canada :P). I was considering getting it done... until I looked up what the hell formaldehyde was.

  • they are required to have proper ventilation and you are suppose to give you a mask.

  • WHAT THE FUCK...... THAT SHIT IS JUST LIKE BOOTLEGGED PERM if they gotta wear all that SHIT than it's definely not safe for children or old people.

  • Thanks for the warning. Now sally beauty supply has a formaldehyde FREE Keratin hair treatment! Hella cheaper too......

  • @CushieDiva Does it work on African American Hair? And how does it cost?

  • This sounds incredibly dangerous. I would rather err on the side of caution and I am sure I can find something else to use if I want to. Thanks for the "heads up".

  • I've tried the do it yourself kits and treatments. It has been banned in the states as well.I heard at several salons that there is going to be a new formula.Organix brand i tried. It works great i like it.It claims to be Formaldehyde free.I did it myself. It feels healthier and more manageable.

  • Wonderful information.

Thanks for sharing it with us :-)

  • Personally I've never seen or gotten a treatment in a salon that required a gas mask. So that right there makes this treatment a NOGO for me and I think they should ban it. Yes there are other chemical treatments done in salons (such as relaxers) but, this one appears to be on a completely different level.

  • wow. i was about to go get this. like TOMORROW. JUST TOMORROW (it was suppose to be today, but it's christmas and all stores are closed). thanks for sharing ti!

  • To me it is better to just get your hair flat-ironed. Stop putting all this bullshit up in your hair and let it be what it is.

  • wow... So I was considering getting this and was reviewing youtube videos & came across yours. Not being one to believe every bad thing I hear, I did some research and came across a story from CBSNews confirming what you are saying! Thanks for blowing the whistle!!!!

  • Wow thank you for sharing!

  • WTH?!! It is also in PCP!

  • personally, i worry about pretty much all the chemicals i use, laundry detergent, soap, nail polish. . . but i still use them. i don't know. i worry, but i guess i tend to let the superficial over-power the health risk. i just hope it doesn't come back to bite me too bad.

  • thanks for keeping us informed!!!!!

  • But, i seen the same ingredient in dominican keratin product, formaldehyde. They where mask everytime they use it in hair, scary.

  • The minute I heard formaldehyde I was like wow, are people seriously comfortable with something that is being used to embalm dead people. That alone made me not even think about twice. yay for Canada.

  • This is absolutely disgraceful and it should be banned world-wide. Shame on anyone who sells this product, knowing how harmful it can be to human beings.

  • DPrincess28 made a similar video a week ago. She also talks about her experience with watching it done. She said the same thing ab the masks!!!

  • girl! im lovin your hair! thanks for sharing the info, cause ive been hearing some misleading information too

  • Please do more videos! your voice is relaxing!

  • the global keratin treatments used in Australia have been formaldehyde free for years.

  • I'm glad i don't put all thoes chemicals in my hair natural is the way to go

  • thanks for your great and informative video

  • congratulations!!! 1 year

  • wow ...a woman I use to work with had this done, but 8% what else are they mixing it with because that is a strong product to me, I mean you can smell it. In funeral homes they usually have warning signs in areas they use it and underneath the warning it actually says that you can get certain illnesses from exposure. I am glad I did not have this done to my hair, but yes it will make your hair bone straight...now I know why it's so straight. It looked like a chemical on my co-workers hair though

  • OMG. That's why its so important to research products from other countries before purchasing. Not all countries have FDA or such organizations.

  • The hair with a regular relaxer will last 12 weeks. When you go natural you have to cut the relax ends off, because it is still straight. I don't care what you get you will have to use chemicals, because of the new growth. So the product isn't all that. I wouldn't be afraid for my skin I would be more afraid for the brain.

  • Gosh the things people do for straight hair....just stick with the relaxers and flat irons.

  • I just can't get over the ventilation mask. My health is more important.

  • Ladies should not risk their health to get their hair straightened.

  • Wow, that is lethal. i have recently heard about this "protein". I also heard that there were some issues, but this is the first I have heard all the details. Thanks. I didn't know about it when i was loose natural, but i can definitely spread the word. A friend of mine got it a couple a few months ago. Happy Nappiversary!

  • Not to sound weird... but you have a beautiful smile! Love all your videos.

  • Thanks for the warning!

  • And Black women wonder why they are the highest rising group in the U.S. for breast cancer.

    Ventillation masks?

It can't be good for your skin.

I feel bad for younger black men that have to pick a bald-headed wife who has patches and she's only 30.

One day you have to let SOMEONE see what's under those rugs they call wigs.

  • THE AMERICAN GOVERNMENT IS NOT GOING TO BAN THIS DEADLY TREATMENT BECAUSE THEY ARE GOING TO USE THIS AS ONE OF THEIR DEPOPULATION WEAPONS AGAINST FEMALES THAT LIVE IN AMERICA.

  • Thats why black females need raise their self esteem concerning the hair. All the sesame street videos in the world cant do that for them. Formaldehyde........damn thats deep.

  • If there are serious health risks then yeah they should ban it. There's no issue for me health comes first and it should come first for everyone. A regular straighten should be fine, if you're comfortable with your curls it shouldn't be a big issue to have your straightened hair last for a SHORTER time period. To me it's not that serious, blow outs and flat irons work just fine for me, the hair doesn't need to be straight for 3 months.

  • hey, I am a man and I dont understand about hair treatments and stuff like that, but I understand about Canadians trying to boycott our economics stuff! Those chemicals stuff are all bullshit because they all can cause cancer if you use too much! SHAME ON YOU CANADA! They want to scare people about the Brazilian way of life because they are afraid we can take over their economies, what a bullshit! Brazil should declare a war against those cheaters bastards!

  • Something to add also...

Formaldehyde can also cause deformaties within unborn babies if the chemical is present within the mothers body.

  • it was mentioned on the tyra show she she was doing all that talk about hair

  • i was so interested in the brazilian treatment at first until i did the research, it's very scary. i learned a method that allows be to keep my hair straight for up 2 weeks with a flat iron so i rather use the heat when i want my hair straight then use that product

  • lovelyti, how did u get ur hair like that? i glad to see you sporting ur curly hair.

  • If you have to wear a hazmat suit to put a product in my hair uh yeah I'll pass it is not that serious ladies

  • This was on Judge Joe Brown. This woman wanted that and they had a specialist on saying the cancer risks and the formaldehyde that the stylists sniff up their noses plus the clients! Crazy what women are will to go through. Oh and the woman was white and was still willing to get the treatment after she learned about the product! It should be bannned. But the FDA won"t get involved becuase it's a "Beauty" treament

  • wow thanx for the info. makes u think twice before trying treatments of any type.

  • crazy cuz what if its a mother who gets her hair straightened...my kids play in my hair all the time. sometimes they try to put my hair in their mouth. YUCK, and i dont even put anything besides shea butter in it. and for them to wear masks for the application, what about when they leave? whenever Ive gone to a salon, after i left, i could still smell whatever products they put in my hair. when i touched it, i could smell it on my hands. wow. this is just a lot. and it is NOT cheap either smh

  • Embalming hair to make it straight - well, before going natural,

Embalming solution for straight hair - well, before I was natural, I used draino (high ph of perm) to straighten my hair and many still use it. I think sometimes even if the potential harm of a product is known - if it keeps you skinny (cigarettes), or makes your hair sleek (Brazillian keratin treatment), some individuals will turn a blind eye.

  • @curliefro do u mean the draino for the sink?????????/

  • @Laquater LOL! - no, but chemical relaxer has the same high ph and abrasive properties (did you see "Good Hair" film and the desolving soda can?) as draino.

  • @curliefro Are you saying an embalmer is the same as a hair relaxer? No maam

  • thanks alot!

  • wow has it come to this? We are now flat ironing this sh!t in our hair. And what the hell? A mask? I mean come on people this is really getting really ridiculous.

  • I think it should be regulated because I would be worried about people ignorantly having this done. People should be informed before they have this treatment done and safety precautions should be put into affect. Other than that it should be legal.

As for risking your life for the pursuit of beauty. I am kinda on the fence. Being unattractive is like the 7th level of hell. However, I do worry about the health issues involved with it and I'm not just talking about physical.

  • How SAD that a person is willing to wear a ventilation mask just to have straight hair. A person rather put their health at risk to have straight hair than to be curly/wavy and healthy?? Even though I'm transitioning to natural... I still enjoy straight hair just as much as the next person, but I'm not about to catch cancer for it! I'll stick to my flat iron...THANK YOU!

  • formaldehyde???? crazy that's a chemical they use @ funeral home when they're preserving the body also with embalming fluid.

  • I say JUST DON"T DO IT!

its not worth killing yourself over

  • @jemy1415 the global keratin treatment used in Australia and a couple of other countries have been formaldehyde free for years.

  • @itsageoffrushthing Yeah but with all the side effects coming out, might as well just use relaxers.

  • useful information

    btw your hair looks gorgeous!

  • Thanks for the info. thank god im natural

  • i am with you... if you have to wear a mask and be outside.... not the treatment for me! thanks for the info!

  • look at this shit, this really pisses me off, anything, absolutley anything for that CERTAIN standard of beauty huh?! Got to have it even if it's that risky, please just stop, people will try anything sometimes, and the hair companies don't care about our hair, they just care about our black dollars. Thanks for the tip TI good looking out

  • honestly there are two different kinds one with the chemical and one with out. But im on the fence now plus it cost too much for me.

  • wow 8-12%? I use 4% formaldehyde to embalm my bodies and fix my brains...

  • @teaundra

You must work at a funeral home...

So you mean to tell me, you all only use

    4% formaldehyde on the deceased,

But the living are putting 8-12% on their hair and scalp....

Wow this is worse then I suspected :(

    Thanks for posting your comment!!

  • @lovelyti2002 No I don't work at a funeral home. I am getting my PhD in cocaine addiction so once we get the rats addicts and perform our test we embalm their bodies and remove the brains...but yes that is crazy I didnt know the percentage was so high in the BKT

  • @lovelyti2002 damn you remember the day you went natural ??? your hair looks nice

  • @miamibabii77 yes mam!!

i still can't believe it's been a whole year lol,

    thanks so much=)

  • @teaundra i HOPE you work at a funeral home. . . that's not just a hobby, right??

    ;) jk.

  • @esamorenasexi No I am a graduate student that does a lot of animal research

  • @teaundra oh MY GOD! PLEASE do a video on a typical day at work at a funeral home. i am so curious! do the dead folks move? do you feel sad while you're preparing bodies? how do you do all that while at work and then have the stomach to eat lunch afterwards? omg i have so many ???s lol

  • THANKS FOR MAKING THIS VIDEO WOW CRAZY. PEOPLE NEED TO BE CAREFUL THIS IS SERIOUS!

  • Thanks for the info it is scary! Your hair looks gorgeous by the way really lush and healthy!

  • @vida130 thank you=)

  • Didn't formaldehyde create severe birth deffects in children years ago? If this is the same thing then I say there should be no if, ands, or buts about it, pull the product. If someone really wants their hair straightened that badly, they should truly look into like you said dominican blow outs, regular flat ironing, or as much as they try to avoid it perms. Wigs are an option too :).

  • I've been hearing about this treatment lately, there is another sistah I'm subscribed to DPrincess28, on her channel she touches on the Brazilian blowout as well and she said the same thing, she saw the stylist wearing a mask. To me that's very scary, relaxers are worst enough but having to wear mask for a hair treatment seems highly dangerous, I'll stick to being natural, thanks for your info, knowledge is power, stay blessed.

  • @BlaqGurl25 you are more then welcome, you know i have to look out for the fam=)

when i saw folks wearing ventilation mask, i knew something was up smh...

if it were an all natural product, then there is no need

for stylists to be walking around, looking like mad scientists LOL.

  • @lovelyti2002 Some stylists REALLY believe that they know what they talkin' about, some of these stylists are trying to push products like that to make a quick buck and they don't care about the outcome as long as they get that money. I had to stop seeing an old stylist of mine because he didn't honor the fact I wanted to be natural. People need to get the appropriate info before doing something so permanent. Keep on being positive and giving us the business. Thanks again!

  • @BlaqGurl25 hahaha i couldn't stoppp laughinggg. she was wearing a maskkkkk

  • Dominican blowout rocks!

  • @MultiSkysthelimit Whats the difference?

  • I'm glad you said somthing before I did somthing dumb to my Afro lol.
